Marvel And Fox No Longer Moving Ahead With THE PUNISHER TV Series

Following the news that AKA Jessica Jones won't be making her way to ABC (read more details on that HERE) it has now been revealed that The Punisher will NOT be joining The Hulk on the small screen too. Read on for details.

While The Hulk may have been given the, ahem, green light, it has now been revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that The Punisher will not be joining him on the small screen. Despite the fact that Fox and ABC Studios were planning on moving ahead with Criminal Minds' Ed Bernero on a pilot, Paul Lee (the president of the latter network) has confirmed that it is not moving ahead. No reason was given, but you can read his comments about working on other Marvel TV shows by clicking HERE. The series was originally described as an hour-long procedural which would have made Frank Castle a rising NYPD detective who moonlights as The Punisher in order to seek justice for those that the system failed. Fans weren't too happy with those changes to continuity and may not be all that broken hearted by the news. Be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!

HBO or Showtime would be a perfect place for a Punisher TV series, not network television. Actually, I bet they could pull it off on FX (which probably has the most shows that push the envelope in regards to the FCC).

Wait what? I thought marvel got back the punisher property last year? FOX still owns it!!? Well, if that's the case then I'm glad this got kaboshed, because it needs to be back in marvel's hands so they can do the character justice finally!

Yeah, HBO or Showtime is the perfect place for the Punisher. Even if there's another Punisher movie and it ends up being good, it still won't do well because of the last films.

Marvel Studio seems like they not doing R-Rated movies. for the Punisher to work on film they need to make R-Rated movies. would Disney let them do that.

also yeah Punisher on HBO or AMC would work. Marvel should hire the guys who did The Wire to produce Punisher tv series.

After the many abominations in theaters, it's best that The Punisher stays in the comics. Besides, we would have never gotten a truly faithful version of Punisher if it wasn't on HBO or Showtime.

I am so thankful. While there have been pros and many cons about the past 2 Punisher movies I actually enjoyed them. Not as well made movies but as a voilent popcorn flicks. When I fist heard of this new series I immediately face palmed myself. The Punisher is a hard series to do as a movie and an impossible show for basic cable. I think it could work perfectly as an HBO, Starz, or Showtime series. I'd even be cool with it being an animated series like Spawn was on HBO.

Good, there approach was just dumb. The Punisher would make a great TV series if it were done right though. Look at shows like Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy and The Walking Dead.

I would love a procedural cop drama surrounding Frank Castle. Let us see him as a cop, get to know his wife and kid, then at the first season pull the rug out from underneath us and kill his family turning him into the Punisher. Then the following season become about vigilante justice and avoiding the very people he use to work wit.

The Punisher would make a great TV if done right. I think it should be on either FX or AMC because both channels you can show violence. HBO has too much unneeded language and sexual content.
