More good news for
Marvel's The Avengers! Joss Whedon's superhero ensemble is now closing in on $600 million domestically (it dropped just 21% this weekend, making $7 million and taking its total to $598.3 million). Overseas, it has now made an incredible $837.9 million, meaning that Earth's Mightiest Heroes currently hold the #3 spot on the all-time highest grossing movies list with $1.436 billion worldwide. Meanwhile,
Deadline reports that Pixar's
Brave has taken the #1 spot with an opening of $66.7 million, after it took $24.5 million on Friday and $23.5 million on Saturday. This is Pixar's 13th North American debut at the #1 spot in a row. Concerns that the animated feature would appeal only to the fairer sex proved to be unwarranted, with it having no issues reaching all ages and both genders.
Brave's worldwide total is currently $80.2 million, although it has yet to roll out in many other territories. The news is nowhere near as good for
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, after it took the #3 spot with $16.5 million following a disappointing $5.6 million Friday and $6 million Saturday. Word of mouth is not good on this one. However,
Snow White and the Huntsman is still doing well as it closes in on a worldwide total of $300 million.
