Joss Whedon Teases THE AVENGERS 2 Villains And Saving Thanos For "The Grand Finale"

Will we have to wait until The Avengers 3 before seeing Thanos? Writer and director Joss Whedon seemingly hints at other villains appearing in the next movie and saving the Mad Titan for "The Grand Finale"! He also shares his thoughts on whether or not Robert Downey Jr. Will return as Iron Man.

In an interview with Desde Hollywood at the Los Angeles premiere for Iron Man 3, Joss Whedon has seemingly revealed that while he does indeed have plans for Thanos, he may in fact be saving him for what he describes as "The Grand Finale". It really depends on how you read into his comments, but it most definitely sounds as if the superhero team will have their hands full in 2015! Be sure to watch the video to also find out what Whedon thinks about the possibility of Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the sequel. Check it out below.

"Thanos is more powerful. He's not someone you just trot out and punch him. Like you did in the comics, you want him to be threading through the universe and to save the big finale for the big finale. He's definitely a part of what I've got going on. The thing about The Avengers is, that they are very powerful, but they aren't very stable. There'll definitely be some people who are gonna shake them up in the next instalment!"

So he's saving him for Avengers 3, but we'll know of him/see him pulling the strings in the second one? Makes sense to me.

i Feel like stringing us along for a big super finale will be almost not worth it. Waiting that long; another 5 years or so from the Avengers to Avengers 3, the wow factor would wear off.

Idea: What if the villain is Ultron, and in the end, and the dust is settled the team asks themselves "Who created this thing?" Cut to Hank Pym (after credits of course), in a dark room, slamming down a bottle, preparing for his quest to atone for his sins.

Here's the question i do ask will Gaurdians of the Galaxy be in Avengers 2 or 3? If Thanos isn't in A-2 then theres no need for the GOTG; But if Thanos is in A-3, then the GOTG will need another one solo movie.

Don't worry, I got the inside scoop from MARVEL. That's right, the villain in "Avengers 2: Electric Boogaloo" will be none other than...

Pink Pearl!

Should be a good one gang. I smell another hit, or is that Pearl? Either way, it's pungent.

I rem the MOE from back in the late 80's early 90's? Lead by Baron Zemo, they took over Avenger's Mansion, put Hercules in a coma, and just raised hell on all the Avengers. Could make for a more personal story, but whatever Joss has planned it's gonna be great.
"Make Mine Marvel!"

@DVonShakari; Tom Cruise is in his 50's, and he's still headlining big sci fi action films.

@GUNSMITH - It's to early for Ultron, Ant-Man isn't till Phase 3 even if they introduce him in Avengers 2 it will be pretty messed up for him to join and then the enemy they go up against is the very thing he created, if all that happened in one movie I wouldn't expect to see Hank in The Avengers after nearly getting them killed the moment he joined.

@Floke, not necessarily. in the comics Odin is more powerful then Thanos but this is the movies. if you've heard anything about IM3 then its pretty clear Marvels Studios CBMs are about as accurate as Wolverine Origins.

but with that said, if Thanos gets his hands on the IG then he becomes nigh-omnipotent and is 2nd only to, iirc, the Living Tribunal and The One Above All.
