Why is this storyline growing on me? I like a tougher Spiderman and Otto seems to be embracing things about the persona that Peter completely omitted.

People who like Superior Spider-man are probably the same schmucks who actually think Iron Man 3 is a good movie.

I hate the fact that I like this murdering scum bag as Spidey. I look forward to the return of Pete but until then I want to see where this goes.

People hate Superior Spider Man but his approach in dealing with these villains is very similar to Batman. You give a villain a bad enough butt whupping they will think twice about committing crime in your city

I hate Spider-Ock, but I concede I would like to see Parker evolve as a character. It was one of the only good things about this book, seeing Parker's essence learn from Octavius but with that gone, Parker would/will likely return not much different.

@MrMartinMarvel I’m just saying there seems to be a correlation between people who like shitty comics and shitty comicbookmovies. I don't hate these people and don't wish them a slow and painful death (maybe a quick and painless one) because they don't know any better.

@MrMartinMarvel Again something I didn't say. Not an idiot, more like the uninitiated. You have your views and I have mine. I'm just expressing mine very bluntly as are you.

I'd like to know why this guy "Owlsey" looks EXACTLY LIKE WOLVERINE!?

C'mon now :(

I agree with most people though - I hated this idea at first and the book has still grown on me. I still want to see Peter back, but I'm okay with reading this.

@SNIZZ loved Iron Man 3, can't stand what I've seen of Superior Spider-Man so far. I like things that are well made, well written, and have layers of subtext rather than things which are one-dimensional. Superior Spider-Man started as a gimmick, and it will end as a gimmick. Iron Man 3, on the other hand, was damn good storytelling, it took a few risks (including the twist) and I believe they payed off, and it seems only the comic book purists don't like it.

I know many people do not enjoy the Spider-Man storyline with Doc Ock in control, though I have to admit it is nice to see ole' Spidey with a set of stones big enough to give the bad guys the smack down they deserve.

I do miss Peter Parker though, just so I do not get totally trashed here on the site.

Oh and by the by so psyched getting to meet Stan "the man" Lee at an upcoming comic-con, nuff said.

Everyone, let me say this loud and clear. I do keep up with the current events, but I absolutely refuse to read this comic. And, most importantly, the only thing I care about from the comics anymore is the return of Peter Parker, but to the point where he's going to STAY!! Other than that, Dan Slott and those who support the decisions he's made so far can go (frick) themselves.

Besides, aren't there other ways that Otto could've cheated death? I mean like, couldn't he have made a clone of himself and put his brain in the clone's body? There just has to have been other ways he could've pulled it off. He didn't have to steal Peter's life.

I hope that Peter comes back and quotes Jack Sparrow, "You've stolen me. I've come to take meself back."

It's hard to take people who quote Jack Sparrow seriously...

Hmm I like Stegman's art on this book. They're giving me flashbacks of the Todd Mcfarlane Spidey eyes
Phlegmbot

@Snizz - You should really give it a shot. It's actually a very old-fashioned Spidey tale in a lot of ways. Slott's finally hit a groove w/this story. Until this, I hadn't actually purchased an issue of Spider-Man in about 10 years or more...and Slott's past work on Spidey (Ends of the Earth for instance) has been atrocious. But this has been really impressive. I'm not sure if it'll remain as interesting now that Peter's no longer in Ock's (his own) head, but I'm willing to give it a try a bit longer.

Oh, and IM3 *was* fun...but, yeah, to enjoy it, you really do have to check your brain at the door. You know, there's some serious issues in the plot: Killian wnated revenge for getting blown off...at a PARTY?! What?!!? JARVIS can send armor to catch Stark in mid-flight, but a missile can get through to the house 30 seconds after a person says "Hey, look!"? And the list goes on.

Really digging the new Superior Spider-man, the issues have been so consistant.

"sad and lazy writing" is a sad and lazy comment when you can't bother your arse to come up with any actual criticisms..

this series is fantastic. Really enjoying what Slott is doing so far. Obviously Parker will be back eventually, so why not just enjoy the ride?
RexBlazer1
RexBlazer1 - 5/16/2013, 2:10 PM
@ReillyParker, whether I'm quoting Jack Sparrow, John Wayne or whoever the Hell else doesn't matter. The message of the quote is what DOES matter, "This imposter has taken my identity, and now I'm here to take it back."

I still don't plan on reading it. I only look forward to Peter's return. Otherwise, to me anyway, it's not worth the paper it's printed on.

@nibs I guess.
@Phlegmbot I agree with everything you said about Iron Man 3 but as for superior, no thanks I've been reading Spider-man since the JMS run and then they shit on my face with one more day and I forgave them for that then they shit on my face again with issue 700 and superior spider-man, no thanks.

Its easy for people to say that Parker is dull and boring but really that is the people writing him that made him that way. Marvel has always refused to let him grow. If Marvel can make a boring character like doc ock interesting. They can do the same for Pete. Lets not forget Ocks a lunatic. this storyline is a big contradiction after contradiction. Pete put a little girl.in danger but ock was the one that put her there. As far as the whole brain swap it makes no sense that switching brain patterns would make ock pete. It would make Pete think hes ock unless the brain switch was done by magic like in one more day. Doc ock having more stones than Peter is a load of crap. Anyone remember the sin eater storyline where Pete crippled him. Lets not forget were talking about the same spiderman that took out firelord. Yeah its just a story but it doesnt change the fact that ock tried to kill everyone on earth and the only reason hes in Petes body is because he killed off Peter. Which does not make sense.
