UPDATE: Details On Bryan Singer And Fox's Plans For Quicksilver In X-MEN: DOFP Revealed?

Today, it was revealed that Bryan Singer and 20th Century Fox have found their own Quicksilver for X-Men: Days of Future Past. Well, we now have more information as to exactly why they've made this seemingly antagonistic move towards Marvel and what this means for The Avengers 2.

One need only take a quick look on Twitter or even in the comment section of THIS article to see that the reaction to the news that Fox is planning on introducing their own version of Quicksilver in next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past has not been met at all positively by fans. In contrast, the recent reveal by Joss Whedon and subsequent confirmation by Kevin Feige that Marvel Studios are planning on making the character (and his sister the Scarlet Witch) members of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in The Avengers 2 was a decision praised by fans, regardless of the fact that it meant their mutant heritage could not be mentioned. The fact that Bryan Singer and Fox have made what appears to be a very late stage casting addition to interfere with Marvel's idea seemingly means that there is now a very real possibility that the studio will no longer use the duo due to any confusion or legal problems this could cause.

However, a report over at HitFix has shed some more light on both Singer's plans for Quicksilver and the relationship between the two studios "This is not a situation where the two different companies are working together to try and create a sense of a larger shared world. In fact, if either of them could get the other to back off, they would. The thing is, Bryan Singer has designed a sequence that he feels only works with Quicksilver, and Joss Whedon feels that there is a pressing reason for Quicksilver to show up in "The Avengers 2," and so what we're going to see is a legally-negotiated stand-off in which we'll get two totally different versions of one character. While they may act like things are amicable in public, HitFix sources say otherwise." Unsurprisngly, they add that, "Marvel has larger plans for the character, though, and wants to use him for more than just one action sequence."

Some have even rather naively speculated that this is all part of some grand plan to merge the two franchises. It's not. In fact, if anything, Fox may just end up seriously compromising their relationship with Marvel after already clashing with them last year over the rights for Daredevil and some key Fantastic Four villains. "If they push forward and allow Singer to include the character, there's a chance they're burning down any future cooperation with Marvel, who have proven themselves to be hard negotiators who aren't afraid to flex whatever muscle they have." How do you guys feel now knowing that Quicksilver's role in X-Men: Days of Future Past will more than likely consist of little more than one big action sequence? Are you still hoping to see him and the Scarlet Witch in The Avengers 2? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Whedon just let it go, let them have Quicksilver. I don't think the world really needs two versions of Quicksilver. However the world does need Black Panther and the Avengers need more women on the team. The first one was a bit of a sausage fest.

What a cockblock by Fox. Personally I love it. Quicksilver should be with the X-Men. He's a mutant and the [frick]ing son of Magneto. Why out of all of Marvel's characters they own would they use 2 mutants?

Be smart Marvel Studios and use Black Panther and Ms Marvel or Ant-Man and Wasp.

Why confuse the general audience? They'll think it's a shared universe or something. If Fox wanna use Quicksilver then, Marvel looses. Oh well. I don't want QuickSilver and Scarlett Witch in Avengers 2 anyways. Saoirse Ronan is a terrible actress. My left nut has better acting ability than her. I will never watch Marvel movie where she is in it unless she dies.

This shows how inept WB are there MIGHT be two versions(I hope not) of Quicksilver before the Flash ever hits the big screen.

So...Whedon actually is using the character for the story, and Fox is using him just to maintain rights. YET...you guys prefer the Fox version without having any idea how which company is doing it?

Terrific.

what the [frick] CBM has completely lost it.@Crossbones you want Saorise Ronan to die, so you want a young girl who's about 19 to die so you can enjoy Marvel movies. Seriously hope that comment was a joke that I just didn't get. If it isn't then please get some help. and stay way from Saorise Ronan.

@Hellsing: No, I'll only accept her in a Marvel movie if her character dies. That's it. I don't want the actual actress to die, that's just wrong. Who would want an actual person to die?

"Bryan Singer has designed a sequence that he feels only works with Quicksilver" Most likely a sequence that involves Magneto. I would guess that quicksilver would try to attempt to save his father in that scene.

"Marvel has larger plans for the character, though, and wants to use him for more than just one action sequence." I wonder if people will actually read that.

Listen, dude is a Mutant. At the end of the day, Fox owns rights to the Mutant members of Marvel. Marvel tried to think of a loophole around it but Fox OWNS HIM.

Fox will win. Not hating, just stating facts.

I've got an article explaining a way to use them without being Magneto's kids, and I did my research for that shit, so give it a read when you can.

I don't want any X-Men related characters in the MCU. The X-Men is such a big franchise on its own that it could be its own universe.

Singer should use Northstar, Aurora or Surge instead.

Seeing a black super-hero in the follow up to the third highest grossing movie of all time kinda more important than Quicksilver. But I find it hilarious that there's a fight(of sorts) between studios over Quicksilver.

Not surprised Fox is stuffing a whole bunch of characters into another X-Film. The butchering of the X-Men no doubt will continue.

And don't expect a link up of universes between Fox and Marvel Studios anytime soon. Fox pulling this move ain't helping a goddamn thing. They are real life trolling.

@Hellsing: lol completely understand bro. As I said though, Saoirse Ronan is a terrible actress and should go to DC. The only way I'll accept her in Marvel is if her character dies in the same movie she debuts in and NEVER EVER appears in any Marvel movie again. Can't stand her as an actress.
Hellsing
Hellsing - 5/23/2013, 2:34 PM
@Crossbones Well I disagree about the terrible actress part but hey your opinion is your opinion. But I might be slightly biased, because I think she's adorably cute. Sometimes shit like that does judge perception of an actress.

Y'know, before all of this, Quicksilver was an upper C-List character.

But if Disney use Pietro and Wanda without any connection to their father or the fact that they are mutants, then this is kinda worse than just using them for a throwaway scene, isn't it?
Also, like I said on the other article, why doesn't Whedon just use Agents of SHIELD to explain the Magneto connection and the fact that they're mutants? They have the rights to do that on TV. They can even use the same actors, like they did on Ultimate Spider-Man, with JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson (being on the same show as Clark Gregg as Phil "Guess where he put the hammer down" Coulson).

You know, of all the characters to burn down their relationship over, why Quicksilver? I mean, I could understand maybe over someone on the same level as Wolverine or Deadpool, but Quicksilver?

@Hellsing: Watch, The Host. She's absolutely terrible in it. Hanna and The Lovely Bones weren't much better.

The problem is, I feel Quicksilver works best in X-Men as his relationship with Magneto is more important than with the Avengers. On the flip side, I always think of Scarlet Witch as an Avenger first; her roots are deepest with the Avengers and she even married one. The studios could just split the characters, but that would force Joss to rewrite the Avengers 2 script without the brother/sister interaction he's apparently so fond of. This is really interesting, and now I guess it's going to be really ugly between the two, which is a shame as they'll only be competing with themselves.

@SKOne exactly my point if they were fighting over Wolverine fair enough I get that.

Doesnt Marvel have some script approval power too? Im just not a Fox fan for various reasons. This looks like the classic stance of the studio. Doesnt really care about hte character "Stick him in there, [frick] story, just piss off the guys that make better movies then us"

Still no cast for FF...and when they run out of time again i bet Marvel doesnt play nice again.Id rather have Wasp and Pym or just add Panther and expand Widow and Hawkeye's parts...

@Crossbones She [frick]ing amazing in Hanna! I know I said I'm biased didn't say I was raving lunatic I can tell the Host isn't good movie, the premise sounds shit doesn't matter what caliber of an actress you are your not going to improve that shit. and I have no desire to see it either.

As I said earlier, I really hope Quicksilver only appears in Days of Future Past rather than also being in the MCU. There would be no continuity between the two so, why confuse the GA? Ya know? Plus, I'd rather have Black Panther and Ms. Marvel over Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in Avengers 2 any day. The whole confusing the GA though is my biggest reason of him staying at Fox until rights revert.

it's sad to see Singer resort to this endless tweeting and pimping of the movie. I can understand though, Jack the Giant Slayer was a giant commercial failure
