Joss Whedon Talks MAN OF STEEL, X-MEN: DOFP, Aaron Taylor-Johnson As Quicksilver And More

The Avengers 2 director Joss Whedon shares his thoughts on seeing Zack Snyder's Man of Steel in order to get inspiration for his superhero team sequel. He is also quizzed on how he feels about X-Men: Days of Future Past and those Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver rumours.

In the above video interview with Total Film, Joss Whedon was asked whether or not he has had chance to catch Man of Steel yet; a movie which seems to have divided fans and critics alike. "I have not had a chance to catch Man of Steel yet, but I'm going to," he confessed. As for whether or not he thinks the reboot will influence what he does with The Avengers 2, he added: "When you're making a large scale superhero film and a large scale superhero film comes out, you have to go and see it to make sure you're not imitating it. That you don't have a giant plot point or set piece that is exactly the same as yours. And it does happen a lot and we say, 'Oh, we better zig instead of zag.' You have to watch it for that, but also, to get a big of inspiration. You either have a great time or you think, 'Well, I can top that', but I'm definitely going to have a great time."

Talk then turned to how Whedon feels about Bryan Singer beating him to the punch by casting his own Quicksilver in next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Unsurprisingly, the man who directed a superhero movie which is better than all of Fox's combined a million times over, simply does not care. "I don't. I really, you know what, I'm doing my thing and I'm very excited about my thing." Unfortunately, when the site then asked about the recent reports that Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is favourite to play Quicksilver in The Avengers 2, Whedon wouldn't give anything away. You may want to have a close look at his body language in the video however to see if you can garner anything from it. "I'm VERY excited about my thing," was all he would say. Be sure to watch the video interview to hear Whedon's thoughts on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and his latest movie, Much Ado About Nothing.

I don't have a problem with the whole Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch being in The Avengers 2... I'm just kinda disappointed they chose them over Black Panther that's all. Avengers 2 could've been a great way to introduce him, similar to the cartoon Ultimate Avengers 2, but beggars can't be choosers.

Anyway, bring on Avengers 2!!!!!!!

its never been said that Black Panther won't be in Avengers 2 so don't give up just yet. I have a feeling we are visiting Wakanda in the sequel.

I think Man of Steel kind of copied the end battle of The Avenger's but they wanted to make it bigger and more disastrous.

I'm hyped for Avengers 2.

Sorry Josh, with respect I have to call b.s on the "better than all of Fox's combined a million times over" comment as that is simply not true. Besides being a highly subjective comment stated as fact the first two X-men movies were great and set the bar and standard for comic book movies of the super powered variety. Granted the majority of their CBM movies were not critically and in some cases commercially successful but lets not go over the top on the hyperbole. Avengers was great but the concept and the execution of the gamble was a large part of that; the movie has deep flaws but is far better than it should have been and expected to be...

Wow, people should really take something away from this.

All this Marvel Sucks, Dc Sucks nonsense is pointless when you read this.

Whats a bunch of [frick]tards loads of people on here seem now. When do we draw a line in the sand?

I still think Black Panther will be seen in A2...least I hope so. Wouldn't it be crazy if they managed to actually keep something under wraps and we got wasp, antman, bp, in it too?? Oh dreams.....

Did people really enjoy MoS more than Avengers?! I liked MoS and can't be bothered with these tiresome Marvel/DC fanboi wars but Avengers was a whole lot more fun, the plotting, characterisation, dialogue and pacing was considerably better in just about every respect.

As for Black Panther, I identify Quicksilver and particularly Scarlett Witch with the Avengers far more than I do Black Panther, I think he'd be better suited to a stand alone film. I'd rather see Vision personally.

I have no beef with Jollem and usually like at least 36.75% of the stuff he comes out with on here. But Hitler had a ton of haters so some may argue with your logic

@Jollem

If you invade Poland then we're done

Yes Mr.Whedon, just like you copied The Joker letting himself get caught to do more damage in TDK.

Black Panther doesn't add anything new to the team characteristically, visually and powerset wise we've already got scientists,ninjas and hand to hand combatants on the team, his spot is being occupied by Widow at this moment in time. On the other hand Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch do, they're also going to be villians at first. Anyway I expect them to put him(Black Panther) in Captain America 3.

@Jollem

Hitler just seemed the most obvious choice. He is just like a super villain right off the pages of a comic. The typical bad guy wanting to take over the world. Creepy

But don't worry, i wasn't comparing you to hitler (i'm sure you could grow a much better moustacheif you wanted). My point was that someone isn't neccessarily doing good if they have haters. Nothing to do with you at all, simply that your name was in the post. I wanted to make sure u knew u were seperate from my comparison.

Just ties into my first post on here of why there is a need for haters at all. When does it end is all

what happens Whedon? cant u express your opinion about a massive proyect like Days of future past?

its not all about Quicksilver, u know.

And he is a X-Men fan, so whether Quicksilver appears on it, its a great proyect, but no, you cant express your interest, right?

whatever

Why try stem any debate out of it? Whoever asks these questions is an idiot. Whedon is going to do his own thing and Fox will do theirs.

It's not like he's gonna answer saying "Well Fox can shove their QS up there asses, I'm gonna rain down on their parade..." He has to be civil
