I never liked doomsday. I always was annoyed with the death of Superman leading to all the different Supermen and then the rebirth, blah, blah, blah.

This looks pretty interesting, though.

I hate Doomsday but I can't help but be fascinated by him at the same time. The name alone is stupid but he does have the distinction of having killed Superman, so that brings some cache I suppose. At the end of the day, the Death of Superman can be summed up as the following:

BAASSSHH "HAA!" KRASSHH "HAH HAAA!" BADOOSH HAAA!" FRAGADOOSH "So.. weak ... b-but have to keep going" "HAH!"

The last issue is pretty epic in terms of the art. I can't deny that. It was basically 24 splash pages. But that last shot of the punches they throw is just physically impossible.

That said, at the same time when you see Doomsday pop up it's usually fun (unless Chuck Austen was writing him). I'm definitely sold on this issue on the basis of seeing Zod vs Doomsday alone.

Now why can't the art look like this on a regular basis for this title :)

Man Doomsday looks badass and terrifying. If Doomsday was ever in a movie this is what he should look like.

We all know that "Doom's Day" is actually a holiday in Latveria when a special, scarred, little birthday boy gets cake and ice cream.

Not a huge superman- a solid one I would say- but I think Doomsday is bad ass. Crazy strong, insane character. Looks good

"DOOMSDAY NIPPLES, ACTIVATE!!"

That would have been his battle cry for the Joel Schumacher-helmed Superman movie.

This looks really good! Both Doomsday and Zod look badass, and the art in general is nice.

Jor-El on the second page looks kinda funny...! ;)

Brett Booth's covers suffer from "stretchy face" syndrome, but the man's pencils are very VERY nice to look at. Good stuff.
Also, Greg Pak is ACE. I've only ever read Planet Hulk, but the man's an awesome writer. The fact that he's writing this title and Action Comics helps establish continuity. Digging this!

Zod was such an underrated character. Good to see his character get ahold of some badassery every now and then.

Never been a fan of Doomsday, but I understand his role as a plot device. Art is cool but I'm not a fan of the horns.
