Looks nice! Now if only more than one of the characters depicted actually had anything to do with a charming little book called 'The Hobbit'...

Kind of messy from an artistic standpoint, IMO.

So generally, though, the elves seem cool, even if they are an "elaboration" shall we say on the book.

But other than that, there are so many other elements that will be in play in this film, and have received less attention in the trailers so far. 'Twill be interesting to see how it all plays out...

Is...is this movie even about Bilbo anymore? Not much point calling it "The Hobbit" anymore when Peter Jackson is clearly more interested in tying this all together with his precious LOTR trilogy and expanding it with his own inventions. Seems like this trilogy is more about the Wizards, the orcs, the Elves, the Dwarves, the people from Lake-Town, the Necromancer, etc instead of the simple adventure story about a single Hobbit that the book was actually about. Still going to watch and try to enjoy it, but it sucks knowing we'll probably never get the story that Tolkien intended.

You already have the story that Tolkien originally intended. The Odyssey too was told and retold many times before someone finally wrote it down. Stories are more interesting when the storyteller puts his own touches on them imo... This is how PJ & co have decided to tell this story. No, it's not the definitive Hobbit; we have the book if youre looking for that, though.

I hope people can stop comparing these movies to the book SOMETIME before the third one comes out FFS, and just enjoy them for what they are!

I'm a little concerned about this poster because Legolas and Tauriel weren't even in the Hobbit book.
