Joseph Gordon-Levitt In Talks To Direct And Star In Big Screen Adaptation Of SANDMAN
The Dark Knight Rises star recently made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Don Jon, but he is now finalising a deal with Warner Bros. to produce Sandman, with an eye to both direct the Vertigo Comics adaptation and play 'Morpheus'.
It was rumoured last month that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was somehow attached to David Goyer's take on Sandman (which he recently pitched to Warner Bros.), but now Deadline have confirmed the news in an exclusive report. According to the site, the actor is finalising a deal to produce the adaptation of the classic Neil Gaiman comic book with Goyer. However, that's not all! He's also interested in both starring - as the lead protagonist - in the movie and making it his next directing gig after the recently released Don Jon. A writer is also currently being looked for. As they point out, "The Sandman series shifts between horror and fantasy, and the central character is Morpheus, the personification of dreams. After being held captive 70 years, Morpheus escapes, gains revenge and rebuilds his crumbling kingdom while trying to adapt to the times." How do you guys feel about this news?
