UPDATE: Paramount Plans On 2016 Release For TRANSFORMERS 5; BOURNE 5 Delayed
Earlier today, Paramount discussed their upcoming release schedule & revealed that we should expect to see Optimus back sooner than later. Plus, it appears Universal's Bourne 5 has been delayed.
Earlier today at CineEurope, Paramount Pictures International SVP, EMEA Edward Ryan walked attendees through the studio’s rollout plans for 2015 and beyond. His presentation began with a showing of exclusive footage from Transformers: Age of Extinction, Hercules, & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but then transitioned to him mapping out the studio’s release plan for 2015 and 2016.
Their 2015 releases include:
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water
Hot Tub Time Machine 2
The Gambler (with Mark Wahlberg)
Project Almanac (produced by Michael Bay)
Terminator: Genesis (with Arnold Schwarzenegger)
Friday the 13th 3D
Mission: Impossible 5 (with Tom Cruise)
For 2016, Ryan promised:
Transformers 5
GI Joe 3
Star Trek 3 (directed by Roberto Orci)
Paranormal Activity 5
Ben Hur (directed by Timur Bekmambetov)
Beverly Hills Cop 4 (with Eddie Murphy)
Hansel and Gretel 2
The biggest news to take from all of this is that Paramount is planning on releasing Transformers 5 in 2016 instead of 2017, like we reported earlier. Of course this is subject to change, but if this expected release date holds, it add another big budget release for a jam-packed summer of 2016, which already has X-Men: Apocalypse, The Amazing Spider-Man 3, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Captain America 3, and Finding Dory all set to arrive.
UPDATE: Universal has announced that The Bourne Legacy sequel, which has Justin Lin in the director's chair and star Jeremy Renner set to return as Aaron Cross, has been delayed from its original release date of August 14, 2015 to July 15, 2016.
2016 is shaping up to be one of the biggest summers ever, which has to be exciting news for movie fans everywhere. Sound off with your thoughts below!
