As bad as the new costume looks I certainly hope not! Plus Take a look at Linda Carter's Wonder Woman Gallery over at ComicBookHotties.com!

I don't know if you read MarkyMarc's article about Jim Lee's redesign of the Wonder Woman out fit and a revamped story line starting in issue #600. If you have not then you can check that out HERE! Yes as far as I can tell Markymarc was the first to post this article.

I have read a few headlines saying something to the tune of "Wonder Woman Gets A New Costume for a Movie?" I have to say I certainly hope not and let me tell you why. First you should see the pic of the new costume:

It's all wrong, this looks like Jubilee got stuck in a worm hole trying to crossover into the DC universe and then somehow got mistaken for being Wonder Woman! I really admire Jim Lee's work, but not this time. I realize this was something he was told to do but I think DC is heading down the wrong direction turning Wonder Woman into Wonder Girl, and not in a good way.

Wonder Woman is iconic! She is right up there with Superman in the DC Universe and on top of that her original costume is a perfect nod to the Flag of the United States of America!

Notice the good ol Red, White, and Blue painted beautifully on Wonder Woman's body. At this point no one is quite sure what the underlying reasons are for DC's revamp. One thing is for sure that the redesign is rubbing the fans the wrong way. Nikki Finke is pissed over at Deadline, you can check her take on the subject Here!

Nikki seems to be upset that male writers and male artist's are taking liberties that female writers and artists wouldn't do. That's an entirely different article all together. What I am not cool with is the possibility that DC is changing Wonder Woman's outfit and back story to fit in with current times, that will be easier to transition to the big screen. It's like Barakapool all over again. Why fix what aint broke!!!

Ooh and keep Lauren Shuler Donner as far away from a Wonder Woman movie project as possible. We do not need another redesigned Donnerized movie version (the first Donnerized movie version would be, yep, LEEE you guessed it, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) of Wonder Woman!

I don't mind the new costume. But I don't think it should be in the movie.

HERE IS WHAT DC WILL BE DOING IN A FEW MONTHS WHEN THEY REALIZE WHAT THEY'VE DONE

Hmmm ... where have I seen such an attempt to modernize a DC character with what they believe is a hip, updated, contemporary look to an iconic character that worked out so well ...

I'll accept the pants, but that jacket screams "Every failed 90's redesign and new character." Not a fan.

This new "costume" is a horrible idea, and yet another product of the phony "realism" which is a cancer upon comic books. I've heard the argument about Wonder Woman's "assets" popping out during a fight as the "realism" answer for inflicting this abortion upon us. That will never happen for the same reason that the Hulk's pants manage to stay on him when he goes back and forth between Hulk and Banner. Comios that are not kept in the "adults only" rack are not going to show nudity. So leave Wonder Woman alone!

Let's also face a basic fact here: NO straight male comic book artist or comic reader would ever want to cover up a beautiful woman's body. I will say one thing about the "new look". It is definitely bad enough to be a movie costume.

Yes, Wonder woman's costume is Iconic... as a naughty Halloween costume! I don't know why all the CBM "Purists" get so upset when ANYTHING gets changed for a movie etc... Comics = Drawn and 2D. Movie = Real people and 3D. Only those purist could ever take a WW movie seriously if she's the original costume. Its so Iconic, it'll come off campy. I like the new costume overall. I think she looks Bad-Ass... Like a reall tough chick, which she is. Kinda like a female Terry Bogard...

I doubt they'll use the new costume for the movie. The studio will probably use the classic costume because it's more recognizable, and iconic.

@Gunsmith, I agree too. They are trying to bring in women of all ages, they don't want her walking around in her underwear. This also goes for young boys. What I don't understand though is, it was ok to put that costume on television in 1976, but you can't use the likeness of it in a movie in 2011? WTF DC?
YogiDonnie
YogiDonnie - 7/1/2010, 8:32 AM
Too far a departure from the orginal design. This is fail. Some change is ok, but this costume goes too far from what is Wonder Woman. AND don't get me started on this WWINO's backstory. I hope it isn't for an upcoming movie.

I would bet JMS wouldn't want B5 reconned this far, so why Wonder Woman?

If the new costume was indeed created with an upcoming movie in mind, then it makes sense. WW's traditional bathing suit costume would look silly in a live-action movie, anyway.

how is lees version updated?...its from the 90's...jus remember//jim lee is one of the best comic artists out there..but he came from a comic book era (90's)..where the costumes were over-done and pointless....how exactly does his new redesign have her looking like a goddess???....man..good thing le isnt redesigning thors costume!!!!!

I prefer the original(not the early years version) Wonder Woman costume in the movie and the new one in the comics.

Timerider84 - 7/1/2010, 8:44 AM
@BrotherJohnson, not if you have the right woman in it, it wouldn't. Yes, you can update it some as posted above, but it still has to look like her at least, that picture at the top, looks nothing like her.
