Scarlett Johansson Sizes Up The Black Widows Role In The Avengers

Scar Jo lets us in on what she thinks her role will be in the upcoming blockbuster of the millennia The Avengers!
We have seen Scarlett Johansson as the black widow in Iron Man, but what does her role have to do with The Avengers or Spider-Man? In short everything. The Black Widow is a important part of the Marvel Universe. She is everywhere. Whether or not she will appear in The Avengers remains to be seen but according to Scarlett:

"I hope I get to come back and do it again," she said. "The character certainly comes back. We see that she does in the comics and certainly she is a big part of The Avengers. I don't know if that is where it's going to go but she is definitely a big part of The Avengers."

Should Johansson's Black Widow join The Avengers to fight along side Tony Stark(Robert Downey Jr.), Nick Fury(Samuel L. Jackson), Thor (Chris Hemmsworth), The Hulk (Edward Norton), and the still un cast Captain America? My answer is yes. Marvel would be crazy not to have her in The Avengers. Sony is crazy not to have her in one of the upcoming Spider-Man films. Regardless of what studio owns what property, money talks and BS walks. If the studio's think they will profit then we will start to see crossovers. Like I said above if you have read the comics Black Widow is everywhere and that needs to be reflected in the movies if they are to mirror the source material. I would much rather see Scar Jo in The Avengers then in her own stand alone movie.

Scarlett Johansson goes on to say:

"She (Black Widow) has many different incarnations and different storylines so I'm hoping she will be able to continue in that way," states the actress. "I'm hoping that if the fans like the character and support the character, we'll see her again."

Oh yes, we will see you again Scarlette.

So she didn't even confirm that "her role" comes back in the avenger's movie. She just confirmed what we all know that her "character" is a big part of "the team" in the comics.
Shaman - 8/21/2009, 7:39 AM
Well ive alway said she's the perfect BLACK WIDOW!!!

But she should'nt be in THE AVENGERS!

It should be the ORIGINAL AVENGERS first! ; )

THOR, HULK, ANT-MAN, WASP, IRON MAN oh and CAP!

Leave her for a role in AVENGERS 2!

Cool article @ JMAN! ; )

LEEE777 - 8/21/2009, 7:39 AM
AVENGERS is gonna be the SUPERHERO movie of all SUPERHERO movies!!!

CLASSIC AVENGERS!

Oh yeah an a cameo of ackles as HAWKEYE! ; D
LEEE777 - 8/21/2009, 7:43 AM
I would actually like to see her in The Avengers alongside Hawkeye...Ultimates style! :)

the_ultimates2_issue11

Still, i agree with LEE that its more important they introduce the main Avengers first.

teabag - 8/21/2009, 7:46 AM
ULTIMATES SUCK JOSH!!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOO! ; D

TEA @ Heh heh heh, i wanna SCOOBY SNACK!!!
LEEE777 - 8/21/2009, 7:55 AM
Okay! Captain America's helment is freaking growing on me. I like the tactical look. I'm referring to the above Josh pic. I would like to see a poll on Captain America's gear. To make it more interesting when his ass is thawed make him go through the Green Beret program and the Navy Seal program. To make it more interesting make him go through the Russian Spetsnaz training. US and Russians hates Nazis. What a perfect way to tie the two cultures together. Captain America's is everyone's hero, like it or not.

I know it's off the topic, but only thing good about ScarJo is her tits. Nuff said.
SirPrize - 8/21/2009, 7:56 AM
Damn @ SirPrize @ Your pretty good! ; )
LEEE777 - 8/21/2009, 8:00 AM
SirPrize@ 100% agree ;)
teabag - 8/21/2009, 8:04 AM
LEE: have you actually read The Ultimates? if not you should really give 1 and 2 a chance (3 is awful). if you forget the original characters and just accept it as something completely different, Miller delivers a really interesting new take on the classic characters that is actually really interesting! dont get me wrong, i dont want to see 'The Avengers' movie being The Ultimates but as a comic book it really is one of the best series' ive ever read. :)
joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 8:05 AM
SIRPRIZE: that is an excellent idea! and i agree with you about the Ultimate version of the costume - not only is it more realistic but its also pretty cool looking! the regualr Marvel Universe seem to be picking up on this as they've retconned Cap's WWII costume in Reborn to have the same type of mask with the chin strap! And dude, Scarjo's boobs are never off topic, lol! ;)

joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 8:08 AM
Leee - Make Cap badass. He's a super soldier and make him perform like one. Make his ass run a mile in 30 seconds, make him fast and stronger. Lace his F'ing bones in Vibranium.

I like to see him ramped up. It's going overboard, but the villians are getting stronger and faster. Captain America needs an upgrade. We all like this guy, but deep down we want to love him. He has the potential and of all the Marvel characters out there he has paid his dues.
SirPrize - 8/21/2009, 8:10 AM
JOSH @ THE ULTIMATES is about the only ULTIMATE comics i read and bought back then, and ive got vol.1 & 2, their NOT good enough to dilute the real AVENGERS movie!!!

AVENGERS are so much better than them knock offs! ; D

(An ive got a lot of AVENGERS books more than anything else cept JLA! (Bout the same).

LEEE777 - 8/21/2009, 8:11 AM
eeeeh I agree to some part.... cap can be every ones hero over in the states, but not on this side of the ocean.
and if he would be so popular..... why took it then a bunch of superhero movies before he ever was mentioned???!! jezus...... even electra and hancock got their movies first!!
phenomenon - 8/21/2009, 8:12 AM
I think MARVEL should do a ULTIMATE UNIVERSE movie, that can have a suckin' tackles as CAP for ya an crappy ULTIMATE THOR an co, then they can leave the REAL MARVEL UNIVERSE alone lol! ; D
LEEE777 - 8/21/2009, 8:16 AM
phenonmenon - do some research before you spout off your mouth. Captain America had a movie in 1979 and 1990. Go back to bed before you get schooled.

Hancock was never a comic book.

jeezuz you just been pwned.
SirPrize - 8/21/2009, 8:17 AM
LEE: i agree, the Ultimate versions shouldnt be used in teh characters in The Avengers movie! despite that, there are a lot of elements i think that should be - Cap being disgusted by the modern world for example - that was a really clever idea of Millers! a guy from the 40's would not like the world of today and would find it really hard to adjust!

the actual Ultimates comic book by Miller and Hitch is one of the best ever though IMO! :)
joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 8:17 AM
Sorry Josh im not a big ultimate fan either...takes away the spice from it all :P

Phenonmenon@ where are you from?? im a Brit and a massive comic fan and i know Cap is the greatest hero there is!!! :)
teabag - 8/21/2009, 8:24 AM
I'm not an Ultimates fan either. But, pulling some elements from that Universe would be an ideal choice (e.g. Caps Helment).

Make it believable, make it gritty and no fluff.

Imagine Josh, Tea, Leee and I are at a bar on a patio and this big f'ing dude hauls ass right by us and rips right through a bunch of people and take down a gunman or whatver and he stops and we see a man holding the striped shield and we are holding our beers thinking 'oh shit that was f'ing cool'. That's how that Cap should be.
SirPrize - 8/21/2009, 8:28 AM
1979 that must have been stopmotion-picture! haha
and 1990? most of you where sucking on mama's ...'s

come on don't live in the past....king kong was also released in the thirties.
results in the past aren't a guarantee for the future..!

and research..... get a life
phenomenon - 8/21/2009, 8:29 AM
I feel bad now. I pwned a child. phenomenon must be supermikes lover.
SirPrize - 8/21/2009, 8:33 AM
Phenom@ i had better titties to suck in 1990 :)
teabag - 8/21/2009, 8:40 AM
SIRPRIZE: haha, not only is that a perfect idea for how Cap really should be but a pretty funny scenario if that were to happen to the four of us, hehe! :D

LEE: yeah, but when you consider The Ultimates as a seperate entity from The Avenger, it was a great comic book! The Ultimates bieng deployed in the Middle East, SHIELD making a whole team of Giant-Men...i thought these were all really interesting ideas and stuff that would probably happen id The Ultimates were real and walking about in our world right now! I much prefer the reguar MU characters as well but SirPrize is right - there are a lot of great elements in The Ultimates that would make The Avengers even better! :)
joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 8:43 AM
I like Beer :P

teabag - 8/21/2009, 8:54 AM
JOSH @ SirPrize @ Point taken, an yeah the reg MARVEL UNIVERSE is so much better, but as long as we don't get ULTIMATE THOR im cool! GEEZ we already got ULTIMATE NICK! (WILLIS so much better), but i wont go there lol! : D

Anyway lets hope AVENGERS blows us all away!!! ; )
LEEE777 - 8/21/2009, 8:55 AM
maybe you can visit sirprize ,teabag......hahahaha

ok that's enough remarks.... we are talking movies here!

and without the hulk , avengers wouldn't be a good movie....what do all of you think??
phenomenon - 8/21/2009, 8:56 AM
cap's costume should look exactly like it does in the comics, but instead of the tights and goofy boots, he should just wear combat boots and tactical army pants. just my opinion
CorndogBurglar - 8/21/2009, 8:57 AM
phenomenon: well, i live in the UK and Captain America is probably my favourite comic book characters! but i agree, an Avengers movie without The Hulk wouldnt be the same!

teabag: you dont The Ultimates either!? i also prefer the regualr MU but I really like the alternate versions of the characters! :)
joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 8:57 AM
@ phenom

i think your crazy. lol the hulk is barely a part of the avengers comic, except for the first few issues, yet the avengers is still one of the best comics. they could make a perfectly fine movie without him. but he'll be in it, and i am excited to see them throw down with him at the end!
CorndogBurglar - 8/21/2009, 8:58 AM
CORNDOG @ CAP probably will! ; )

Phenomenon @ HULK should be a founder (like the comics) and go BAD (And be in it of course), that way the AVENGERS hav'ta get THOR'S help!
LEEE777 - 8/21/2009, 8:59 AM
LEE; just like in The Ultimates, lol! ;) theres one scene from The Ultimates, id really like to see in 'The Avengers' ...

After The Ultimates vs Hulk fight and Hulk has now transformed into Banner:

Captain America: I'm just here to make sure those cuts and bruises of yours get the proper attention, pal. C'mere, let me get a look at that big gash on your cheek...

Bruce Banner: But I haven't got a gash on my cheek.

(Captain America kicks Banner in the face)

Captain America: You do now, son. Dig out a straightjacket in a size thirt-four, General. We're bringing him in.
joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 9:05 AM
See now thats not the cap i grew up with and thats why i hate the ultimates....booo Josh boooo lol :P
teabag - 8/21/2009, 9:06 AM
hmmmm..... I rather have an epic movie on galactic proportions with galactic supervillans and lots of action than sticking to the original comic-book stories!
build the story line up, and after a few movies we can see a lot of superheroes in action.

and joshw24 .... I was just f*#*ing around... , no problems here with cap! only not my favourite superhero!

and if you wanna know ... I live right across the channel! we hade a good footballgame a few days ago! 2-2 than you know where I come from!
phenomenon - 8/21/2009, 9:07 AM
phenomenom is the new supermike. Let's all congratulate pheomenom for this phenomenom which is a phenomenom itself. [[[[claps]]]] never thought anyone was capable of toppling the supermike.
SirPrize - 8/21/2009, 9:11 AM
teabag: lol, same here but i love that scene!! :D

phenomenon: oh cool, so you're from the Netherlands?

SirPrize: i actually consider 'CaptainAmerica' to be the new supermike, lol!
joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 9:13 AM
yeah you're right! joshw24.

you'r friendly neighbour!lol
phenomenon - 8/21/2009, 9:16 AM

teabag - 8/21/2009, 9:17 AM
@ LEEE

i hope so!!!!!
CorndogBurglar - 8/21/2009, 9:19 AM
phenomenon: i have to admit i googled that football match - im not a football fan, lol! and im actually from Wales to be specific! :)
joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 9:19 AM
First off about this article, I love the use of the phrase "Blockbuster of the millennia"

Jman, just from that I can see that you understand just how huge and important that movie will be (if it's good)

DarthMulder - 8/21/2009, 9:20 AM
still remains on the other side of the channel, joshw24...also fine by me!lol!but I don't know how well your relationship with THE english are....lol

and thanx for the applause teabag..... bow!lol

and you're right darthmulder..... this movie can make or brake next superheroemovies! people get bored or want more superheroes!
phenomenon - 8/21/2009, 9:27 AM
phenomenon: i have no problem with the english but i sure as hell dont support their football or rugby teams, lol! :)
joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 9:32 AM
And your darn tootin the fans will support!! I know I will! In Avengers, Spider - Man, Daredevil, Iron Man or anything else!

And for the gentlemen who say they prefer classic MU, I have to side with you! I mean I never really read the Ultimates but I have heard what it's all about, and yeah classic MU does seem fairly superior.

Teabag, your a true fan buddy. hats off to ya

@ Josh24: That would be a cool scene, but I don't think the Cap I know would abuse a helpless unarmed man who hasn't attacked him.

@ Corndogburgler: You are dead straight right on the money, about Hulk in Avengers. Your exactly right.
Personally I couldn't care less if Hulk is in it or not. With IRON MAN< THOR,AND CAP on board, who really even needs the Hulk anyway? There's already PLENTY of Marvel awesomeness to go around.
DarthMulder - 8/21/2009, 9:34 AM
DarthMulder: well, that scene in The Ultimates did take place after Banner deliberately took the Hulk serum to give The Ultimtaes a villain to fight and went on to kill 600 people so im guessing thats why Cap did it - still you're right, that isnt the Cap we all know but id still like to see some sort of version of that scene in the movie! :)
joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 9:39 AM
ultimate universe is lame. i'll admit i like the first 2 ultimates stories, but the ultimate universe as a whole is lame and totally not needed, especially after this ultimatum story...god that was terrible
CorndogBurglar - 8/21/2009, 9:42 AM
al i got out of this entire thread is scarlet johansen has big tits. did i miss anything else?
superdog - 8/21/2009, 9:44 AM
@ darth

thanks man! i'm not much of a hulk fan anyway, kind of a weak character. (and before anyone jumps on my balls, i don't mean physically weak, his character is weak) but, again, it will be cool to see the avengers fight him, so i'm all for it! but yeah, darth, in response to Phenom's post, they could easily make an avengers movie without the hulk and it would be just as great.
CorndogBurglar - 8/21/2009, 9:47 AM
every one his opinion.... but I think the studios are also looking at the commercial side of it!
read the following opinion( and keep in mind, this is not mine!!)

with all shit now going on world wide...... many countries get sick even hearing the word america! (lots of asian (muslim) countries especially...... we are talking about 2 billion people!!

well.... I think that's one of the reasons why there isn't a stand alone cap-america movie! we are talking about lot's of "customers"here!

never underestimate the commercial side of the studios!!

and again I haven no problems with cap..... but I think worldwide there are more people who are connected to the x-men , hulk , ......

what are your opinions about that???

phenomenon - 8/21/2009, 9:47 AM
CorndogBurglar: yeah, the overall Ultimate Universe isnt great - Millars run on The Ultimates was great though. as for Ultimatum - wow, and i though Jeph Loeb did a crappy job writing Ultimates 3! Ultimatum was the worst way that they could have killed off the universe without all those idiotic and unecceasry deaths!

superdog: lol! what do you think of Mark Millars Ultimates?
joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 9:51 AM
phenomonen: you do know that the Captain America movie is coming out in a couple of years right? im definitely not sick of hearing the word 'America' - i pretty much love all things American in fact! Without the good old USA, i wouldnt have any of my faourite films, books, TV shows or comic books! like with any country its not perfect but what country is!? :)

on this type of topic, would you guys in the US bother seeing a Captain Britain movie if they ever made one?

joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 9:55 AM
My opinion is that you have no idea what your talking about.

1. There is a Captain America movie which is being planned and written as we speak.

2. There was a Cap movie in 1990, that was really bad, so interest is there an it always has been

3. America is a great country, and we don't have this anything like this snooty elitist eurosnob attitude that I hear everywhere. The dishonest leaft leaning liberal media has fed you a bunch of baloney about us which is the real reason you are sick of hearing about us. We embrace your country and any other that isn't third world or otherwise chaotic or dangerous to the soveriegnty or safety of smaller weaker nations or threatening anyone with nukes. If anyone ever attacks you, America will be there for you, despite your bad attitude.

There. That's my opinion.

@ sirprize I think your right about this guy
DarthMulder - 8/21/2009, 9:56 AM
@ phenom

i think that all goes without saying...of course they're looking at the financial/commercial side of things, they're a company, like any other, they're in the business of making money.
CorndogBurglar - 8/21/2009, 10:01 AM
@ josh

i would see captain britain in a heartbeat! MI 6 was awesome!
CorndogBurglar - 8/21/2009, 10:05 AM
Josh24, that's a ridiculous. OF COURSE we would. I would in a snap!

I will say this though, Captain Brittian is cool but he isn't a first stringer in terms of popularity. For some reason he has just never been much of a big time player in the Marvel U, but that's just because of the writers. It's not that there is anything wrong with Captain Brittan
DarthMulder - 8/21/2009, 10:09 AM
Darthmulder - Well said. I've been to Europe and the reaction I get is 50/50. They either hate me or love me cause I'm American. If a foreigner comes here they are embraced and welcomed. I have bounced at many bars here in Texas and Oklahoma and everytime I see a foreigner visit the club I always see people buying them drinks and make sure they are taken care of. Had a Scotsman in tears 'cause he was never treated so nicely'. He came in several times and I made sure he never had to pay a cover fee to get in. That's how we really are. Come over, my casa is your casa and you'll be fed. That's how I am and that's how Americans are. Funny thing we have an Asian District here and they are huge Sooner football fans. They love America. Come visit, make sure you visit the right place so you may really enjoy what we have to offer.

Also have a friend that came from the Netherland on a work Visa to work here. His Visa wasn't renewed and he had to move back. He loves it here and wants to come back. He's a good man and he is always welcome here.

Don't believe in the media. You'll be amazed by the gernosity of us Americans.

I've helped several people here that are not Americans with their Internet, HTML and other tekkie stuff. I'm here for all. Question is are you here for me?
SirPrize - 8/21/2009, 10:12 AM
well said darth, and sirprize!
CorndogBurglar - 8/21/2009, 10:19 AM
@ darth

also, that quote he had in that post about cap not having a stand alone movie was from like 2 or 3 years ago...i remember reading that before...possible when they announced the first iron man movie?? this guy is silly
CorndogBurglar - 8/21/2009, 10:21 AM
darth you should take more schoollessons on reading!!!!
first of all I stated , it's not my opinion, second of all,i talked about asian countries..... and they are not lying in europe..... go back to school and take some more geography lessons!!!

and we are talking here about the commercial side!!

always wonderd why americans can handle criticism so bad and feel immediately attacked.
every country has it good and bad things and every company considers it's commercial side!!

And I know what I'm talking about! in europe we take a world interest, you only do that if it's biting you up your ass!

and you're right I also am glad for all the good things from the usa!!!!
phenomenon - 8/21/2009, 10:22 AM
For the record, i dont actually like to consider Britain as being part of Europe - i would much prefer the UK to be a standalone country rather than part of the EU. if anyone asks where im from, i sure as hell dont say Europe!! and i swear to god, if they ever make us get rid of the £ and we have to use the Euro, im emigrating! funnily enough, im hoping to do that anyway - as soon as i finish college and uni i want to move to the states anyway!

Darth: i agree, Captain Britain has been really badly handled. Alan Moore's run was great but since then almost every title he's had has been cancelled! i understand that he's never going to be as popular as any of the US heroes but if Marvel took a gamble and gave the character an A-List writing team, it could be really good!

Not to flog a dead horse going on about The Ultimates again but i really liked how Mark Millar wrote Captain Britain in that title (even though, it was a brief few appearences) Poor old Captain Britain, lol! ;)

Oh, and as far as Im concerned any of you guys in the US are welcome to the UK anytime!

The ULTIMATE team up! :)

ukusa

joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 10:37 AM
they shouldent go all the way ultimate or none ultimate they should only stick to the 6

captain britain mi6 was great, it was cancelled, but it didn't deserve it
CorndogBurglar - 8/21/2009, 11:05 AM
Josh@ Me too i dont see us as apart of europe :)

Now lets get things straight....who gives a [frick] what other countries think of us.....the Americans think they have the greatest country and me and Josh think we have the greatest country.....Hell im sure phenomenon
thinks somehow he has the greatest country(lol)...hehe anyway fact is we all love Comics, we all love Movies, we all love Captain America

:)
teabag - 8/21/2009, 11:13 AM

CorndogBurglar - 8/21/2009, 11:18 AM
Phenom,

I am not going to argue with you. I am not going to argue with anyone about anything. But someone needs to inform you of two very important things.
First of all the media lies to all of us all the time. The Eurpean Press has it's good and bad just like ours does but the real problem is the idealogical spin put on everything that gets told.

And secondly, some people pay attention to what is going on in the rest of the world and some don't. I am one of the ones that do, and so is everyone in my family. I would be willing to bet that it's the exact same way in your country.
The last thing I am going to do is judge someone for that, which is what is particularly wrong with what you are saying. It's nothing against anyone. You just pay more attention to where you live because you live there.

DarthMulder - 8/21/2009, 11:19 AM
Never eaten a Twinkie :(
teabag - 8/21/2009, 11:21 AM
But we have all the Comics, Hollywood and the Internet. Oh! and all the hot girls. Neener neener neener. Just playing....don't gang up on me. =P

update and we have Twinkies.
SirPrize - 8/21/2009, 11:26 AM
lol @ Sirprise!!! "neener neeener neener"?? LMAO

Teabag, I don't think we have the greatest country in the world. I don't even think on those terms. I am not the kind of person who criticises everyone else but never himself. It's the same with nations. Were not perfect but niether is anyone else.

I love my country and I am proud of it, and I love our Brittish friends across the pond too. I have been to England twice and man what a great place. I loved the people most of all.

DarthMulder - 8/21/2009, 11:29 AM
Darth@ We loved you too! im not on your back bud....im just saying we all love our countries but hell comics come first with me :)

Id love to visit the USA one day :)
teabag - 8/21/2009, 11:33 AM
that's right SP.....!

and again darth .... I read my own comment again... and really, I never mentioned europe anywhere.....!!!
so I really cann't understand why you mention it!
I only talked about specific parts of the world where this feeling is growing, and you know that as well as I do!! so don't blame the messenger!!any..... and I really mean any superhero movie is welcome.... even cap's!!lollolol
but I still think the hulk needs to be in it!
would love to see them fight the beyonder or even a team villans including abomination, and forgot his name...gladiator .... I think.

and teabag..... no I think my countrie is ok.... with good and bad things!lol!!

and I wonder.... do all of you think they should stich to the story-lines of the comic books??

phenomenon - 8/21/2009, 11:40 AM
one thing to add darth, your earlier comments are not so far from what I think the same of!!

phenomenon - 8/21/2009, 11:51 AM

CorndogBurglar - 8/21/2009, 1:10 PM
What's with the gap between Hollywood and the comic book industry? ScarJo was quoted as saying"Black Widow is a huge part of Avengers". ? -- What??? Think back to the original run. She was only in the title for a handful of issues and didn't even officially join until issue #111!!! How can you play a character you know so little about? The only reason to have her in the Avengers flick is to have an excuse to introduce Hawkeye! She played a much bigger role in Daredevil's title and in Champions than she EVER did in Avengers!

Ultimates is entertaining to the fan in the know who understands that it is an alternate reality VARIATION on the Avengers! I don't think it's a good idea to try and base movie elements on this adaptation! People's affection for the title is likely based on its high quality execution by its elite creative team!

What I want to see is CLASSIC Avengers on the big screen! That's what we've been waiting YEARS and years for!

The 2012 Avengers movie needs to be as canonic as possible! That means eventually focusing on the core 8 members: Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Pym, the Wasp, Vision, Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye! That's the roster that best represents a distillation of the most classic versions of the team!

lol, whats a twinkie? ive heard of them on TV shows and stuff but always wondered!!

teabag: Amen brother! Your comment above is exactly how i feel! :)
joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 2:41 PM
If I could, I would mail you some Twinkies. They are not that expensive. They are very lite to so shipping will be cheap.

Twinkie is like angel food cake with creamy filling. Same filling as Hostess cupcakes.

SirPrize - 8/21/2009, 3:12 PM
lol I'm a health nut. I haven't eaten a twinkie or anything like that in about 20 years.

I won't touch Star Crunch or HoHOs Dunkin stix or Little Debbies or those coconut baseball things.. not a chance.

@Josh24: it's pretty much extreme junk food. It's a greasy oily yellow cake like substance with a greasy oily whip cream like substance inside it and it's rather cylindrical in shape. It's shot with sugar and probably refined lard, and a lengthy list of strange chemicals additives as well.

I am sure you guys have something like that.

DarthMulder - 8/21/2009, 3:23 PM
SirPrize: wow, that looks pretty nice, lol! thanks for posting that for me man!

DarthMulder: when you put it like that, they sound a little less nice, hehe! to be honest im not sure we have anything like that - a lot of simalr things sure but nothing like that exactly!
joshw24 - 8/21/2009, 3:44 PM
I as a huge cap fan must say that i'm not into the helmet that he sports in ultimates...i like it in the WWII flashbacks but i love the original mask...i'm hoping that when cap is in present time that he'll have the mask...in the WWII scenes i like the helmet...i just can't dig it in the modern era. I hope that the movie is awesome...cause if they mess this movie up then i'll leave comics alone and comic movies as well...
TheREALHumanTorch - 8/21/2009, 4:21 PM
@ jonf

i totally agree with you on that 8 man roster! that was definately the definitive avengers team, no doubt. but at the same time, black widow actually is a pretty big part of the avengers. maybe not originally, but black widow is pretty much sinonomous with shield, and in the movies/ultimate universe, nick fury/shield are the ones putting together the avengers, so it actually makes perfect sense for her to be in it.

and i hate the ultimate universe, but at the same time, the 616 MU has very good things about it, and also bad things, same with the ultimate universe, so i don't see much problem with trying to find a median between the two, and taking the good things from both for a movie...except maybe nick fury, the regular MU fury is the real deal!! i wish we could have him in the movies. i want my fury to have grey hair on the sides, to have fought in every war imaginable, grizzly as shit, and buying prostitutes in his spare time, lol.
CorndogBurglar - 8/21/2009, 6:35 PM
CDB: To tell you the truth I agree about the Nick Fury thing.
And you and I have the minority opinion for sure. It seems like the whole world is calling for The Ultimates, and our voice is not and will never be heard above all the noise.

As cool as Samuel L is, he's nothing like the Fury I grew up reading, and I miss that.
I am trying to be patient and keep a good attitude about it, but yeah i wish it was the classic MU Fury.

CorndogBurglar - If you re-read my second post, you'll see that while Ultimates is a hot title, to me it's still just an alternate reality, meaning: no real consequences and endless continuity variations and deviations!

In making a film adaptation of a super hero comic years in the making, it's been proven time and again that the classic interpretation is the way to go! I didn't wait 30 years to see an Avengers movie to be given an Ultimates movie! That to me is a separate entity unto itself and should be treated as such!

The Ultimates comic is already presented in a big budget, wide-screen action movie in the first place, so I feel it would be both misguided and redundant to try and incorporate elements from the Ultimates reality into An Avengers film, which is supposed to be based on mainline continuity!!

As for the Black Widow, my point stands about her limited involvement with the Avengers team: she never served an extended tenure until recently! Other than that, she was strictly a reservist for her entire membership!! Now The Ultimates' version is another story! I was referring to the mainline BW. It's as if Marvel is LOOKING for problems that could potentially screw things up years down the road!

One thing I really don't understand is all this race-changing! If it makes sense, it's fine, but lately it just seems to be done randomly and for no apparent reason! (see Nick Fury, Ripcord, The Kingpin, etc.)

Recently I commented on the article about Sony hiring writers to penn Spider-Man 5 and 6. In my post I mentioned that Sam Raimi should stick to Steve Ditko's creations, as they are essentially all you really need to deliver a Spidey film with a timeless appeal! The same goes for the Avengers! Why would I want to see concepts originated by Mark Millar and Brian Bendis less than a decade ago come to life on the big screen when I've been waiting far longer to see the classic versions of the characters that I love get their just due? It's almost insulting! What's next, flicks starring the gray Hulk, Thunderstrike and USAgent?!

And I don't understand why everyone is so excited to see War Machine debut on the big screen; Rhodey became the second Iron Man a full 10 YEARS before donning the WM armor!!! I think it would be MUCH cooler to see Rhodes in the Mark III armor and Tony debuting the Silver Centurion armor!! Mix in a throwdown vs. Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man with implications of an international incident and you're good to go!
JonF - 8/22/2009, 2:31 PM
Phenomenon - not true! Cap had two TV movies in the 70s and a feature film in 1990! What we're waiting on now would actually be a reboot of the '90 film!

SirPrize and DarthMaulder- sorry didn't read all of the above posts first! But thanks for helping keep the whippersnappers in line! ;-D

Twinkies are disgusting....
InstigatorGIRL - 8/22/2009, 7:49 PM
I'm not a big fan of Twinkies. I prefer chocolate Zingers.
SirPrize - 8/22/2009, 10:09 PM
I just HATED the "Ultimates" abominations. I thought they showed a total lack of creative energy. If the writers had not liked the original characters, they could have put their thinking caps on and come up with new characters. And to suggest using elements from "Ultimates" in movies we comic fans have waited, in some cases two generations to see on the big screen (yeah, I'm old) just misses the point.

What I want to see in the Avengers movie is the Avengers going after The Hulk. Why that story? Why would Nick Fury be assembling The Avenger Initiative? To go after bin Laden? Of course not.

Hulk has already trashed San Franciso, and then popped out of hiding to screw up another city. SHIELD isn't there for minor scrapes, they specialize in the BIG threats. So, Fury got Tony Stark aboard, trying to get the Avengers assembled, but Stark went off on his own (in his inimicable style) to pull Banner into the group. He even gets Banner's help defeating Whiplash and other assorted baddied in Iron Man II, but the Big Green Bastige goes ape, doesn't just stop there, and rips New York City a new one. Heck, even leaves Stark on the verge of dying until War Machine chases him off.

SHIELD comes down on Stark, threatening to take his company and ALL his assets away, unless he gets on board with Avengers' original mission, to take down, or at least neutralize, the Hulk so that SHIELD can lock him away for good.

Thoughts?

InsitgatorGIRL, I am in serious "like", ha!

Twinkies are nasty. Ding Dongs (actually originally marketed in portions of the country as "King Dongs", if you can actually believe an ad executive approved THAT!), however...
bropous - 8/23/2009, 9:56 AM
