Stellan Skarsgård 'Erik Selvig' To Return (And Go Nude?) In AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

The Swedish thespian has confirmed that he'll make his fourth appearance as Dr. Erik Selvig in the anticipated Avengers sequel, and also hints that he'll strip down like he did Thor: The Dark World.

It seems writer/director Joss Whedon has worked yet another familiar face into next year's highly-anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron as Stellan Skaresgård has confirmed that he will reprise his Thor: The Dark World role as Dr. Erik Selvig in the already jampacked Marvel sequel. During an interview with Total Film magazine, the Swedish actor was asked how he got involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And after explaining that Thor director Kenneth Branagh had wanted him for the role, Skarsgård admitted, “I didn’t have much clue about the Marvel universe at that time.” He then added, “What I said to Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel, was, 'All those superheroes? Still in those comic books? Can you make money out of that?' The whole table just froze and looked at me as if I was an idiot. But you sign on for at least five films, I think. Or I did. I’m going to do my fourth. I’m going to be in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, a small appearance. It’s something really nice. Even if it’s owned by Disney now, it’s really run by four or five people, and they know exactly what they’re doing. I like working with them because if I have a problem with the scene, I have Kevin Feige’s number. I can call the head of the studio. You can’t do that when you work on a normal Disney film or with Warner Bros or Paramount.”

The Total Film interviewer then joked, "You run around in your pants in the second one a lot…," referring to Thor: The Dark World. Stellan replied seemingly hinting that he'll go nude again in Avengers: Age of Ultron like he did last year. “Yeah, I was naked again,” he said. “They called my agent and said, 'Do you think Stellan will mind being naked?' My agent laughed his head off. Yeah, I almost insist! Sometimes with a contract you get a nudity clause, which is fantastic. It’s supposed to protect me from having my genitals exploited, which I doubt anybody would make a dime on.” Skarsgård was then asked if he could reveal anything about Age of Ultron. “First of all, I don’t know what I’m allowed to say,” he started. “But usually they call me in if they need something explained. There’s a lot of explanations to do when it comes to that universe.” Anyhow, it's interesting that Dr. Erik Selvig is returning, given that the titular villain is more technology-based. Of course, besides possibly going nude, he will probably share scenes with Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder, who is rumored to be going through a breakup in The Avengers sequel. It's also worth noting that several Asgardian background extras have been cast in Age of Ultron. What do you think?

(Rumoured spoiler)

Apparently according to some rumours floating around his character is vaporized by Ultron in a rather gruesome scene and similar to Coulson's death giving the team motivation - Selvig's death will be used to cause Thor to enter a rage against Ultron.

The quote was "Yeah, I was naked again" ... again in Thor 2, he didn't mean in a Marvel movie, just that he's been naked in movies before, a couple of Swedish ones at least.

Not that I care much for his character anyway but they really ruined him in Thor 2. Everyone in that movie was a cartoon character.

Elves with dark matter guns and spaceships was the dumbest thing I have ever seen in cinema. The Dark Elves should have used bows, blades, and magic - like they do in every other fantasy piece.
