More From Jason Momoa On Portraying AQUAMAN, Diversity, And Being In JUSTICE LEAGUE

The actor who's set to portray Aquaman of the DC Cinematic Universe, reiterates why he's excited to be playing King of the Seas over the next four years while getting to represent his culture and more.

Given that, for almost a year, Jason Momoa had to dance around countless questions surrounding his cameo as Aquaman in the highly-anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it's always a pleasure to now hear the actor talk passionately about portraying the DC character; even he's saying the same thing over and over again. Therefore, his recent interview with The Daily Beast is no exception as Momoa reiterates why he's excited for the Aquaman role which will span at least four years. “It’s awesome as an actor to know what your future is going to be because I have children and I’ve busted my ass to put food on the table,” he said. “It’s awesome knowing that I’m going to be in Justice League because my son is the biggest Batman fan and my daughter loves Wonder Woman. It’ll be cool for them to see me in something because they’re not going to be watching Game of Thrones or Red Road anytime soon, but now they can see Daddy kicking ass in IMAX.” On bringing diversity to superheroes, Jason Momoa continued, “I’ve had to bust ass to be in this industry. A lot of things are very black and white,” he says. “Aquaman is especially cool because being a Kanaka Maoli—being Hawaiian—our Gods are Kanaloa and Maui, and the Earth is 71 percent water, so I get to represent that. And I’m someone who gets to represent all the islanders, not some blond-haired superhero. It’s cool that there’s a brown-skinned superhero.” When the Daily Beast mentioned the irony that Momoa's first major acting role was as a lifeguard in Baywatch Hawaii, the actor laughed before saying, “It’s a trip. I spent 15 years trying to dig myself out of the Baywatch hole, and now I’m Aquaman. Life is very good.” What do you think?

After being introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25, 2016, Jason Momoa will later return to Aquaman full-fledged under Zack Snyder's direction in Justice League Part One on November 17, 2017, and then headline the standlone Aquaman movie on July 27, 2018.

I think they did Aquaman justice by casting Momoa. They've added a level of bad-assery that Aquaman never had before in the common public perception.

I know people are hesitant on Mamoa as Aquaman, but I feel he will own it... My fear is that Snyder is going to aim for the 90's Long hair and beard shirtless hooked hand Aquaman which I wasn't a fan of... I def have faith in Mamoa as Aquaman, I just hope he doesn't have the hook hand and is more of a mix of his Young Justice and New 52 costume... Orange armor and green! NO HOOK HAND!!!!

Im excited about this interpretation of the character, something different. Momoa is going to look badass standing alongside Cavill, Affleck and Gadot.

As for casting the only ones I am currently hesitant on are Jesse as Luthor and Ezra as Flash... I HOPE to god they don't [frick] these two HUGE DC characters up. Ezra should dye his hair blonde just to give us a little bit more faith in him as Barry, saw a manip of Ezra with Blonde hair, looked pretty good! And Jesse will be hit or miss, I think he will be decent just there is better options imo... We can only hope

That line right there instantly sold me, literally blow that sh*t out of the water Mamoa and don't hold back.
