Anthony Mackie held a panel today at the Emerald City Comicon 2015, where he talked for the first time about his confirmed return as Sam Wilson aka Falcon in Avengers: Age of Ultron, as well as in the much-anticipated Captain America: Civil War.  When asked to compare Cap & Falcon's dynamic with Batman & Robin's, Mackie implied that his superhero pair is more equal. "With Falcon and Cap, what's so great is there's a mutual respect," he started. "There's a soldier respect. What's great about Age of Ultron and [Civil War] is you get to see their relationship grow." Mackie had then expressed his excitement for Avengers: Age of Ultron, in which he will likely only appear briefly. "Remember the first time you saw a 3D movie, and got a headache, and were like, 'What happened to my brain?'" he asked. "Avengers: Age of Ultron is like that, with The Rock punching you in the face. It's like Disneyland for adults. It's like going to Vegas with an unlimited credit card. It's by far the most stupendous film experience you'll have. It's just ridiculous."

Anthony Mackie was later asked how much of Marvel Studios' future plans is he aware of, to which he replied explaining how he (and everyone else) found out late last month that he would be in Age of Ultron. "This is how it goes," he said. "About two weeks ago, I got a call. My friend was like, 'Yo, Age of Ultron posters out.' Why didn't tell me you were in it?' 'I'm in it?' That's how Marvel rolls. When you see somebody and they say, 'We can't tell you,' that's because they don't know."

Marvel Studios presents Avengers: Age of Ultron, the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure. Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision. Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” published in 1963. Get set for an action-packed thrill ride when The Avengers return in Avengers: Age of Ultron May 1, 2015.

I don't think enough people appreciated their relationship in The Winter Soldier. The Russo brothers treated Cap's struggle with adapting to modern times as if it were a soldier coming back home from a long tour overseas. That's...pretty [frick]ing brilliant. So of course Falcon was a soldier who only recently returned home, suffering from PTSD after seeing his "wingman" blown out of the sky, and so of course the two struck up a strong friendship so fast.

They really figured out the perfect way to get us to love Falcon, while also giving a fantastic reason for the two to be such great friends in the first place. I can't wait to see how their friendship develops even further in future movies.

@KurtWagner1225 Jesus, I keep forgetting about Black Panther. Damn. I'm excited to see what they're doing for him and Hawkeye. The action in Winter Soldier was incredible!

Can't [frick]ing wait.

"If you’re not a comic book fan, when you think ‘Captain America’, you probably think ‘jingoist’, a propaganda piece. But if you know the comics, every time something happens in the world, he gets to address it: the hippies, the civil rights movement, the Watergate. And our MCU Cap missed all that, he missed 9/11. So he gets to address where we are now without having seen what forced us to make these decisions. He did not have the same slow descent into the cynicism that we all had over the last 40 years. He comes out with fresh eyes.

One of the great things in the comics that we hoped to replicate in the movie is that his reaction is never the sort of knee-jerk old man conservative reaction you would think the man dressed in an American flag would have. He exemplifies the spirit of America, not a party, not a government. He’s never going to fall on a political line. He stands for an ideal and he stands for principles that are translatable across the board. What he is against in this film is subversion, subterfuge and lies, that line between freedom and fear.”

@KurtWagner1225 daaaaaaaaamn, I hadn't read that f-ing quote. That's just... brilliant. I love it so much. Goddammit, TWS is not the kind of movie you get tired of after a while, it's the one you love more and more the more you know about it. And for a geek-friendly movie that didn't have a single energy blast or a single giant monster or robot destroying stuff, that's saying a lot. You just know these dudes will make Civil War great, I got to feel the perfect taste the clash of ideals in TWS with freedom vs security an other stuff, but if they have the same writers for Civil War plus the Russos as directors then I know they'll try to do another HonestTrailer-proof movie.
