Joss Whedon Explains Why Tom Hiddleston's 'LOKI' Was Cut From AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Reassuring the God of Mischief was almost in Avengers: Age of Ultron, as previously revealed, director Joss Whedon now explains why we didn't see Loki (Tom Hiddleston) after all. Check it out!

Idris Elba let slip last year that he had filmed an Avengers: Age of Ultron scene with Tom Hiddleston, but while Heimdall does make an appearance in the Marvel sequel, Loki is nowhere to be seen. Evidently, Hiddleston's cameo was left on the cutting room floor, as Joss Whedon now confirms.

“We did shoot something, but it didn’t play,” the Age of Ultron writer-director told MTV News. “The movie has so much. It’s so filled. We didn’t want it to feel overstuffed. I really wanted to have Loki in it, but I understood the decision that there were now too many voices in the chorus.  Whedon added, “At some point the embarrassment of riches is actually embarrassing.”

Perhaps, Tom Hiddleston's cameo will be included in the many deleted scenes to be featured on the Blu-ray and DVD release for Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the meantime, we can still expect the God of Mischief's full-fledged return in Thor: Ragnarok on November 3, 2017. What do you think?

Marvel Studios presents Avengers: Age of Ultron, the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure. Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision. Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” published in 1963. Get set for an action-packed thrill ride when The Avengers return in Avengers: Age of Ultron May 1, 2015.

Honestly, I wouldn't have minded if the movie ran a few minutes longer. I think this deleted Loki scene really would have set up a good road for Thor: Ragnarok.

Also, in that case, [SPOILER] should have been in the mid-credit scene as shown, and Loki should have been in the after credit scene (if there was one)!

With a movie this size and so many characters to show they should have just allowed it to go for 3 hours.

They made Ultron menacing in the trailers, but in reality he was not at all. I thought he'd become after his Vibranium "juicing", sadly even that didn't do nothing.

My biggest problem with the movie was that Hulk didn't talk once, not once. Last movie we get 'puny god', this movie, not a [frick]ing thing. So underutilized, so many opportunities to say 'Hulk Smash' or 'Hulk Tired' or 'Widow make Hulk uncomfortable'.

I assume Loki would have been right after Thor shoved Heimidal aside.

Yeah the movie had enough characters, Loki wasn't even a threatening villain in The Avengers, it was only until the Chitauri showed up that the stakes were raised.

@SirGoraf, Ultron cutting someone's friggin' arm off isn't menacing enough? Or killing people followed by a creepy joke?

The movie is nearly 2 and a half hours long. Be happy Marvel didn't cut it down to an hour 45.

@Nomis

(this is copy and paste from where I typed it before)

My understanding is by destroying all the suits, removing the chest reactor....to show Pepper he was done.....by saying I am Iron man He was saying...he is the suit.....the human embodiment of Iron Man....physically and mentally....

PTSD does not disappear after one blows up stuff.....lol!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posttraumatic_stress_disorder

Maybe His continuing PTSD can be explained In AoU as he creates Iron Bots to serve and protect.....

They really should've explained it better...IMO.

Anyway everyone gonna have a different interpretation....

The movie should have been another 30 to 45 min. It was cheesy, great action, and almost no depth i loved it.
