Earlier today, several potential spoilers for Marvel & Joss Whedon's crossover actioner The Avengers emerged online, posted by a user from the notably unreliable Internet Movie Database. Now the same source has added more, possibly revealing the initial purpose for the 'Avenger Initiative.' Spoiler Alert!
The Skrulls have been here [to earth] before. They just thought the cube [was] no longer on Earth.
Once S.H.I.E.L.D found the cube Fury knew it was only a matter of time before they would come back.
The Skrulls homeworld had been destroyed, just like in the comics...
There are some great fights with lots of spaceships. The script definitely is EPIC.
So could that memorable "talk about the Avenger Initiative" in the post-credits scene of 2008's
Iron Man, be in regard to extraterrestrial activity? Could the actual finding of the Cube in
Thor's post-credits scene put the Skrulls on alert? Of course, but what do you think? For some reason, I can picture Nick Fury explaining the history of SHIELD's first encounter with the Skrulls, and how they're the reason for his missing eye. Anyhow, take these with a grain of salt!
Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston & Stellan Skarsgård, the film releases May 4, 2012!
