With the cameras reportedly set to roll on the location tomorrow, production prep for Marvel Studios' The Avengers, transforming East Ninth Street into New York City's famed 42nd Street, is shaping up nicely. With the majority of the images courtesy of local tweeter, MaggieDiane, check them out below. And also take a gander at the captions for preparation specs.

In relating Avengers news, yesterday, I posted conceptual art for the film's SHIELD helicarrier and quinjet. At the request of the artist, who says his concepts aren't close the final product, I had to remove them from the site.

Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. With director Joss Whedon at it's helm, and an ensemble cast including Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Clark Gregg (Agt. Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), with Tom Hiddleston (Loki Laufeyson), and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig), the film releases worldwide May 4, 2012!

@BooYah Indeed, after contacting him, he told me that the studio decided not to go with his designs, which is why they were in his portfolio. However, if you look at the concept poster from SDCC, you can see the helicarrier design is really the same as his concepts.

I live in Cleveland and visited the set yesterday. They were moving crushed cars around and drilling those wood pieces on the wreckage you can see in the last pic. If someone knows when they will be filming exactly reply to me and I'll try and go down their and take some pics for you guys.

@DCMarvelFreshman - Poor guy, hope they at least pick one of his designs, I enjoyed them especially the Quinjet - Which I thought was brilliant.

Could the Hulk caused all of this mess or is it something bigger? Cause I really want to know, around about, now!

@Jefferys When he worked on the film, there wasn't even a script yet, so he doesn't feel that bad. But regarding these set pics, they're gonna be filming Monday, so we could find out more about the scene, then.

HULK is capable of this type of destruction, but it randomly spotted- like something is shooting some time of projectile.

@BooYah Hes telling truth, the final product can be seen in the SDCC poster. While they look similar to his designs, they are slightly different. The reason he doesn't want other sites posting his stuff because he doesn't want early designs passing for the final product; and evidently being sued. Though it is strange, because "concept" art is rarely the final product lol

@BooYah No problem, thanks for commenting. Another trailer is being shown at D23 expo, and some are suggesting it'll be released online officially. Heres hoping we get a good look at the outside of the helicarrier.

@StreetProdigy, I was up there today and they told us that filming on this street will start Monday. I have a friend who works in one of the banks right there and got a memo from the building owner saying not to call 911 if you hear or see explosions over the next few days...

@DCMarvelFreshman - When is the Disney Expo thingy and is anyone going to it so they can 'watch' the trailer and comment on it.

Man I hate living on an island with only water surrounding me. I get nothing good over here. I mean, even the Irish get something!

@TK421 Thanks, I was just at the Indians game and on my way back to the car I saw some of the wreckage at the lot they are keeping it at :P, thankfully I should be free monday so I'll head down there and get some pics and videos. btw did you hear about the explosions they are doing in Parma at the Chevy Powertrain building?
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 8/13/2011, 8:05 PM
@BooYah Oh yeah, I completely erased that "fireball" thing from my mind. Maybe that's what's happening. I would expect more car damage if it were HULK. The side of buildings are torn down and singed. Guess we'll see.

Pretty damn sure that's deliberate.

TK421 - Now that's a plan. How much do you want for that eye patch?

I'll give you $200 for it and since Australian is worth more at the moment you'd be a bit extra
