Stan Lee Dishes On Cameo In The Avengers And Praises Director Joss Whedon!

Ultimately praising the superhero flick's director, Stan "the man" Lee also reveals a tidbit regarding his cameo in The Avengers & why he thinks you may not recognize him.

As shown in several set photos from last weekend's final days of filming in New York, Stan Lee filmed his much-expected cameo for Marvel Studios' The Avengers. And on that same day, "the man" attended the annual Dragon*Con, where he ultimately praised director Joss Whedon and vaguely discussed the cameo.

Oh, He's wonderful, I was watching him direct. He knows just what to do, he knows just how to do it. He doesn't get flustered. Hes good with the actors, hes good with the technicians; hes just a good guy. I was very impressed with him; I've always been, but seeing him in action that way. It's one of the reasons that the movie is gonna do so well.

There was only one thing - when I was doing my cameo for The Avengers, after the third take, he asked could I take off my glasses because somehow the flash of the floodlights were hitting the lens and there was a glare. So I did my cameo without wearing my glasses - so the chances are you won't even recognize me. That was the only decision he made that I felt should'n't have made (laughs) He should've fixed the lights.

I can't talk about [the cameo], but I can tell you it is a very funny cameo - probably the funniest line that I've had to say yet. And I say it to Captain America. You may notice with my cameos, they don't like me to do my cameo with the stars, because the star doesn't need that much competition (laughing). But this time Captain America was fierce and went along with it.

Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. With director Joss Whedon at it's helm, and an ensemble cast including Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Clark Gregg (Agt. Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), with Tom Hiddleston (Loki Laufeyson), and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig), the film releases worldwide May 4, 2012!

@Coloso: No, just a little Annoyed.

Come on... Make Stan a Skrull! Or else we have a bigger continuity problem then new hulk and rhode combined.

@Mechagino... Really you're upset with Stan's cameos? Get a life. They are just quick little tongue-in-cheek nods to the greatest comic book character creator in comic book movies. He doesn't have to be a Skrull and it doesn't have mess up the continuity. He's not playing the same character everytime. They are two-second fun little nothings. Hell, some of the movies arent even in the same universe or by the same studio, there is no way to or need to connect them all or have them make sense. Just enjoy them while the Man is still here and appreciate all that's he's done.

P.S. And really, still upset about Ruffalo & Cheadle? That is quite literally OLD news. Get over it. It's called "Show BUSINESS", not "Whiny Fanboy Demands". Sometimes stuff doesn't work out. Maybe one day you'll get a girlfriend and she'll break your heart and then maybe you'll do some growing up to see you can't always get what you want and to move forward & be happy with what you do have.

@Curmudgeon- That wouldn't make any sense since Stan Lee was in Captain America TFA himself.

Stan IS "The Man!" I just thought it was strange that he did a cameo in Captain America since he didn't actually create him. Otherwise, I look forward to all of them.

@Curmudgeon- that would be pretty awesome. My bet is also him being one of the guys cap knew from WW2, whether it's the kid from the canal or one of the guys he rescued in norway. this could be his best cameo yet!

Joss and Stan talking, must be comic book golden. I'd love to think that Stan Lee's comeos in the MCU actually intertwine, making Stan Lee as if he never dies!
