Disney's Russian Division Keen On Having THE AVENGERS Premiere In Moscow

Six months from it's world-wide release, it's not too shocking there's "talks" for where Joss Whedon's long-awaited film The Avengers will premiere. Check out a reported suggestion.

Speaking with RIA News, the head honcho of Walt Disney Company's headquarters based in Russia, Marina Zhigalov-Ozkan, expressed strong interest in bringing the stars of Marvel Studios' Joss Whedon-directed superhero flick The Avengers to town for next year's big premiere. Read the (Google-translated) quotes below.

"Now it is difficult to promise anything, but we hope that we can bring to Russia to visit for the first time and Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel Jackson, and director, in general, all the key people who worked on the This picture, "- said Zhigalov-Ozkan.

She added that these plans have the support of the company's headquarters, as Russia has in recent years become one of the largest markets for theatrical rental.

"The film" Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides "is a proud second place in the Russian market for the domestic box office history after" Avatar "- stated the head of" Walt Disney Company CIS. "

If things go through, I'm sure this premiere will be held to accommodate the early international release of the movie. However, for the U.S. premiere, don't be surprised if it's announced to be held at the El Capitan Theatre in California, considering that's where Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America premiered.

Marvel's The Avengers is the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner with Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston, directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel's The Avengers will be released May 4, 2012.

Ok, I'm not American, but I would think it strange not to open in New York. Its where Avengers HQ is, where Stark tower is, the leader of Avengers (Cap) home country etc. Its given really.

I love how Nick Fury and Black Widow seem to be more "key people" to the film than Cap, Thor and Loki.
What really should've been said is "we want stars here. the bigger the better. the other guys, like that director dude, yeah, they're also allowed to come if they have to"

@ NeoBaggins,

Even in the comics, she doesn't have an accent. She speaks perfect English without an accent. It was part of her spy training.

KGB Spies would NEVER have an accent it gives them away. KGB spies actually went through extensive training to speak English like any American does. So No she shouldn't have an accent.

Actually, nothing is said in that news about WORLD premiere. That lady just states that they would like to bring A-listers for 'The Avengers' premiere in Moscow and that they are currently in negotiations. And I highly doubt that a movie about American superheroes will have its world premiere anywhere outside of US.
Also, even if it turns out to be true, I don't think there is a need to revert to somewhat derogatory terms. People who live in Russia are Russians.

If it's personal experience, then I guess you were just trying to be funny asking whether the trip is safe, n'est-ce pas?
Also, I am at a loss trying to understand how pity can lead to contempt.
MY personal experience is quite different, but I am really not ready to discuss it here, especially since most of the derision towards Russians here comes from indignation at the idea of 'Avengers' having its world premiere outside of America, and not from knowledge and personal well-founded attitude.
