Kevin Feige Elaborates On "The Long Road" To THE AVENGERS And More!

Discussing in detail how Marvel's shared cinematic universe was born, Marvel Studios head honcho and The Avengers producer teases future installments. Check it out!

From the latest issue of Aussie magazine FilmInk, Marvel Studios' president of production, Kevin Feige, surely elaborated on what's been a long road to a shared cinematic universe, and the most-anticipated assembly that will heavily showcase that, The Avengers. Essentially confirming that there'd be "hints" in this film, that could pave the way for a roster alteration in the sequel, read on below.

"We had to have confidence in the direction in which we were heading," Feige explains. "When Marvel Studios regained all the rights to all these characters, we had the ingredients for The Avengers. It was midway through Iron Man that we introduced the organisation of S.H.I.E.L.D. to help the story. I thought that it would be fun to put a teaser with Nick Fury at the end to let fans know that this was possible."

"Spider-Man. The Fantastic Four, the first Hulk - all these had taken place in their own seperate universes. We have a lot of characters, but it's not too much," Feige assures. "It's the exact right amount to tell the original story of the formation of The Avengers. While there are certainly going to be hints to what may come in the future, this is the core team"

So while Feige confirmed earlier this year that a roster-change for The Avengers sequel is guaranteed, it seems we can expect some hints as to who those Avengers may be early on. Who, that's plausible, would like to see join the team?

Marvel's The Avengers is the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner with Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston, directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel's The Avengers will be released May 4, 2012.

Hmmm...The one constant thing about the Avengers is that the lineup is constantly changing. Could we be seeing some characters that have returned to the good graces of Marvel Studios? You know,an end-of-credits poker game with Ben Grimm dealing cards would probably be a good start...

I freaking love the 2nd trailer to TIH. What's the music at the end montage ?
Shaman
Shaman - 12/23/2011, 8:50 AM
Supes17- True it might not have been the best part of it, but it's oceans away from being a Superman 4 or a Batman and Robin. And no matter how you look at it, it's still better than Spider-man 3. But yeah, i get what you're saying.
Supes17
Supes17 - 12/23/2011, 8:52 AM
I'd love to see Ultron. Have Stark create something so powerful out of pride. Then have Ultron come back to haunt him. I'd be an awesome way to end the trilogy. If they decide to make it a trilogy

Supes17 - 12/23/2011, 8:54 AM
@Shaman: I'm not saying it was THAT bad lmao.
It's just that it's very lackluster when you compare it with Marvel's other films.
But I give them props, they managed to get most of their heroes on the big screen with box office success and positive reviews

Supes17 & Shaman: I agree. I have a hard time listening to people say what a terrible mess Marvel films are when the biggest complaint from anybody is ONE film out of five was not fantastic like the rest of them. There is nothing wrong with IM2, it just isn't as good as the other four.
Hawksblueyes
Hawksblueyes - 12/23/2011, 9:10 AM
Iron Maan 1 and 2 : People complained that the armor looked like plastic or rubber.

The final look in the film looked great.

Thor: Same complaint as above.

The final look in the film looked great.

Captain America TFA: People said the screenshots of Cap made his outfit look rediculous.

The final look in the film looked great

AND NOW

The most common complaint I've heard about the trailer and screenshots is that Whedon screewed up and should have kept Caps FA costume (the same one nobody liked to begin with)because the new one looks silly.

I have no doubt that the final version on screen will prove to be fantastic once again.

My personal opinion
1.Iron Man
2.Thor
3. The Incredible Hulk
4.Captain America

5.Iron Man 2

3&4 can be switched around from time to time

@SCURVYDOG619 I like that idea! In the comics, Ben DID have late night poker games with random Marvel characters every so often..in Marvel-Two-In-One 51, 'hi-jinks' ensue when a secret poker game with him, The Beast, Jarvis, Ms. Marvel and Nick Fury goes wrong...

Awesome Teabag support, Trudy!

Supes17- After now having rewatched all of them, i actually feel Thor dethroned Ironman, at least on my shelf it did. There was so much stuff to grasp in Thor that i didn't appreciate the film to it's full potential in theaters. Thor is so much better the second and third time around ;)

Ironman 1 is still awesome but it could have used a tad more character interaction. After the 30th time, it looks a bit more like Tony, alone in his sandbox with his awesome toys. Cool, but not as much of a full feast as i find Thor to be now.

Thor would be number 1 for me if it wasn't for the lame Earth scenes. I remember thinking"Come on! Get back to Asgard!" lol. That and the short battle with the Destroyer. But I understand that would be pushing the budget.
Those were my only complaints. No movie's perfect, Thor is still an amazing film. I also liked the film's score
dmm5
dmm5 - 12/23/2011, 9:51 AM
Black Widow & Hawkeye out!

Ant-Man & Wasp in!
Shaman
Shaman - 12/23/2011, 9:58 AM
Supes17- Yes the filmscore is epic! I'd even say it's on the same level as John Williams' Superman score and Zimmer's Dark Knight score!

As for the Earth scenes, those are some aspects that are definitely way better after a few rewatches. At first glance, they seem bothersome because it's simply not what you want to see. But after reviewing it more than once, you really get the bigger picture and those scenes become instrumental to his character and are a lot better executed than what we cared to acknowledge before. It's just a perfect Bluray to watch on a home theater system ;)
