Jean-Claude Van Damme Wants In On THE AVENGERS 2
Upon learning about the idea from an original Avengers cast member, veteran action star Jean-Claude Van Damme says he’d be open to starring in Joss Whedon’s sequel, naming his fave heroes.
While there wasn't enough “machismo” in The Avengers for The Expendables 2’s Dolph Lundgren, his co-star and fellow veteran action star Jean-Claude Van Damme would be game for a role in Marvel’s 2015 sequel. Revealing so via Facebook, the Belgian martial artist / actor wrote:
“It was my pleasure to meet Mr. Stan Lee back in 1994, along with Mr. Samuel & Mr. Victor Hadida! I read that Chris Hemsworth (star of "Thor" and brother of Liam Hemsworth, "The Expendables 2") would like me to costar in "The Avengers 2" movie!
Well, it would be fun to play one of these types of amazing comic book characters again. By the way, I am a big fan of Marvel's superhero Silver Surfer and also another heroic fictional character known as Doc Savage - the Man of Bronze!”
Although very little is known about The Avengers sequel, writer-director Joss Whedon has said to expect a couple new characters when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes reassemble. Even if nothing works out for Van Damme, he does indicate that he’d like to play any superhero. What do you think?
Marvel Studios already describes their highly-anticipated sequel to the No. 3 highest grossing film of all time, “Marvel's The Avengers,” as another “big cinematic event.” And expected to feature the reassembly of iconic Marvel super heroes Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow & Nick Fury taking on a new unexpected enemy, new additions to the superhero team up of a lifetime are possible.
Expecting reprisals from Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joss Whedon from a screenplay by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” sequel is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. And set for release May 1, 2015, the film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In addition to the sequel, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; and “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014.
