Despite being rumored only as "prototype" for the Scarlet Witch role in Marvel's The Avengers 2, Irish actress Saoirse Ronan responded enthusiastically to the possibility back in May. But while speaking with IFTN more recently, The Host star was again pressed about the rumors, now saying, “That’s not happening, no! I think that was just one of those little rumors floating about.”
This isn't all that surprising as the trade Variety reported nonchalantly last month, on June 20th, that Marvel and writer-director Joss Whedon were meeting with actresses that following week to fill the Wanda Maximoff role. But we're likely to get an announcement during Comic-Con next week!
So far starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, with Kick-Ass actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson in early talks to join, Marvel's The Avengers untitled sequel is written and directed by Joss Whedon, and is scheduled to shoot in the U.K. in February next year for a May 1, 2015, release date.
