Alec Baldwin Turned Down A Marvel Movie Villain Role
The star of NBC's 30 Rock fails to elaborate on the role or the movie, but Alec Baldwin reveals that he turned down the opportunity to play a Marvel movie villain this summer. Check it out after the jump!
With Marvel Comics dishing out box office hits more than ever lately, Hollywood heavyweights are being sought out for roles in the ever-expanding franchise adaptations. Exemplifying that with a missed opportunity, Alec Baldwin was a guest on the Howard Stern Show last week when he was asked why no one has offered him a villain role in a superhero movie. "I have, but I won't mention which one," Baldwin revealed. "I don't want to undo somebody because they hired someone else to do it. But they asked me to play a villain in one of these Marvel Comics movies," he reiterated. As to why he turned down the role, the 55-year-old actor said, "I wasn't available, they wanted me to work a certain time. And because of my wife's pregnancy, I had to turn down two films this summer that I wanted to do." Even after Howard Stern pressed him for details, Alec Balwin said he would only disclose the role off-camera. Oh well! However, considering that his wife is supposedly six months pregnant right now, that leaves The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Guardians of the Galaxy as possible Marvel movies that Alec Baldwin would have played a villain in. What do you think?
