Viola Davis Talks SUICIDE SQUAD; Reveals How Many DC Movies She's Signed On For

WB/DC made a great decision casting two-time Oscar nominee Viola Davis as 'Amanda Waller' in Suicide Squad. Now she's opened up about her experience working with director David Ayer - and revealed just how many DCEU movies she's signed on for...

Suicide Squad has finally wrapped, and star Viola Davis has returned to filming the second season of her hit drama, How To Get Away With Murder. While talking to Deadline about her Emmy-nominated role on the ABC show, she briefly touched on her experience working on the DCEU project - praising the movie's style, tone, characters and, in particular, director David Ayer.

"I’ve been working on the film since April 1st. It sounds like a lot, but I haven’t been working every day. I haven’t done a lot of comic book movies, actually I’ve done none! DC Comics have a tendency to have darker characters. You know, Batman is a darker character, Harley Quinn, the Joker, and what David Ayer has managed to do is humanize them. I think that you see it in the trailer too–just something different about it that makes you lean in."

"What he’s explored is the pathology behind all of these characters, so you just get that extra spin that gives you the flavor and a look which is very different. And at the same time you get all the stuff that you’ve gotten before, which is the action, the special effects, the great makeup. I’m blown away by the movie. Once I saw the trailer, I was like, “Oh, my God. He really is a magician.” So, it’s been a real pleasure working on it with David Ayer."

Additionally in another interview, Davis revealed to the New York Times just how many DCEU films she's signed on for. "This is my first big superhero movie. I signed on for three, so it needed to be a great experience," she admitted. We already know Suicide Squad is one of those movies, but what could the others be? My money is on the two Justice League films - although there is a chance she makes a surprise cameo in one of DC's solo flicks. What do you think?

Suicide Squad hits theatres August 5, 2016.

Looking forward to this! I think Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is going to steal the show

She gotta have at least one action scene in the movie or in another one. Not a big action sequence but more like just shooting multiple targets down.

Harley, Deadshot, and Boomerang vs WW, Batman, and Superman.

There's a rumor that Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) has been cast(or is being considered) for Wonder Woman, and with Patty Jenkins just starting to follow him on Twitter, eyebrows are being raised.

Another rumor suggests that Charlize Theron will be reuniting with Jenkins on Wonder Woman.

SS sequel or Batman movie would be cool for her.

She could have connection to Lex and his Red Capes.

So far the only actress that has nailed a female comics "superhero" character in a movie is ---------------->

So I'm hoping Margot is the second.

i think i'm more interested to see this movie than BvS.
BvS could have decent third act or a terrible one if the Doomsday rumours are true.
Why Doomsday ? Let's hope Zod will become Bizarro.

In case of SS i don't know what to expect which is fine.

One of the best castings ever.
She was born to play this role, and she's going to be a powerhouse. Probably the most intimidating character.

So excited! I hope she appears in most of the DCEU movies!

Theron as Hippolyta or Artemis would be cool as hell. But whi do you figure Edgerton could play?

All I care about is Letos performance and that he isn't Jason Todd or killed off

she will prob be in the Batman movie as well. SS, JL and BM.

Yeah she'll probably be in the two JL movies. But i'm more interested in how many more films is Margot Robbie signed on for if any. She's my number 1 choice for Captain Marvel. Here's hoping Marvel and Margot can come to a deal if possible.

PS: Can't wait for SS, it's going to be amazing. I get the feeling it'll be a mix of Guardians of the Galaxy and the Dark Knight trilogy.

Why the fvck would you want that?

Wonder Woman and Superman are powerhouses, they should be fighting powerhouse villains

"just something different about it that makes you lean in."

Had the exact opposite effect on me. This movie look like a film for people that like to wear Tap Out shirts and listen to Disturbed. Both not good things.

Amanda Waller is not gonna be the DCEU's Nick Fury. It wouldn't make sense.
InvisibleSanji
InvisibleSanji - 8/27/2015, 7:27 AM
@VisualMaximus like a DC Nick Fury but meaner. She has no problem using and discarding the people she works with, including the good guys. Sam Jackson is like family to the Avengers.

Amanda Waller is black. The real Nick Fury is a white dude.

You know it is not always about Marvel right?

Also Amanda Waller is nothing like Nick Cage......I assume you mean the that is portrayed by Sam Jackson.

Good lord @VisualMaximus

Of course WB/DC loves Batman!!!!!! Why would they not use their most popular character?

Just like Fox beats Wolverine to death and Marvel uses Iron Man as well!
