Justice Society Returns to Smallville

The Smallville season finale will not only feature the return of Black Canary, but several of the JSA members and an old friend of Clark Kent's.

Last week we learned that Black Canary (Alaina Huffman) will return for the Smallville season finale. Today, entertainment journalist Micheal Ausiello has revealed that the heroine is not the only fan favorite character making a comeback.

The May 14th episode will mark the return of Abosolute Justice heroes Hawkman and Stargirl, respectively played by Michael Shanks and Britt Irvin.

Three Justice Society members were killed off in the Smallville: Absolute Justice special, Dr. Fate, the Star Spangled Kid and the Sandman. No word has been released yet if the other Golden Age DC heroes Ted Grant (Wildcat), Jay Garrick (the Flash) and Alan Scott (Green Lantern) referenced in the show will make appearances.

Another addition to the already full cast will be Clark's half-human/half-machine friend Cyborg (portrayed by Lee Thompson Young); who will also guest star in the episode.

Fans of the show will be relieved to know the final tidbit Ausiello revealed: though a main Smallville character will bite the dust on the show's season finale, it undoubtedly will not be Clark Kent or Lex Luthor.

That would be awesome if Alan Scott and Jay Garrick are in that episode... OOOO BABY!!! I've always wanted to see them in live action

THEMRTERRIFIC - I hope you are right. She is not contributing anything to the show. I think the Absolute Justice (though far, faaaar from perfect) was one of the best episodes of this show. Doesn't help that every other episodes has sucked balls though. I just hope they at least go out with a bang. After all the shenanigans and the obviously catered to teenage girls dialog/story arks, we fans of Superman deserve a reasonable ending to this show.

This is awesome.

Hawkman was great in Absolute Justice and although Stargirl was somewhat annoying it would be cool to see her back.

I've been waiting for Cyborg to comeback its about [frick]en time.

So I guess I see the formula for a Smallville season finale.

1. You bring back characters from the big episode of the season.
2..Some member of the Justice come back to help/do absolutely nothing.
3. Someone dies

Hopefully Flash comes back in either the form of Jay Garrick or Bart.
It would be tight if another Justice Society member came back. I always wanted to see Wildcat on screen but Flash or GL would be awesome too.

BOOOO YAAAAA! DAMN this season finale is going
to be EPIC!..since they ALWAYS end the season
with a "cliffhanger" I wonder how it will end?

I'm sure the "death" will be close to the end..
But somehow I DON't Think they will end with
another FUNERAL..cause that's how they ended
season 8.

Chloe is awesome. She is way too cool to die. I hated the early seasons Chloe and loved Lana. That switched as the show went on. Now I can't stand Lana and love Chloe. Tess or Zod dies. End of story.

WHY DO THEY END THINGS WHEN THEY GET BETTER?

I'm a big fan of SG1. I think Michael Shanks is a great actor, but what a lousy casting decision to have him play Hawkman. His character on Stargate was nothing like Hawkman, other than the fact that they were both archaeologists.

TESS DIES BUT ZOD CLONES HER BUT KRYPTONIAN AND CALLS HER URSA

I never hated Lana. I hated the things the writers did to the Lana character. Lana started out great. She was a rebel. But then she became a a muffin girl at the Talon, a witch, a vampire, Lex's bitchy wife, etc. I liked the plot twist in season 7 when she became a reckless vigilante in episodes like 'Wrath'. It reminded me of earlier episodes like 'Extinction'.

I think Chloe's character started out well, with episodes like 'Truth' and 'Scare', but has become very marginalized over the years so that now she's basically a sidekick.

Chloe is a horse witch from Hell. Absolute Justice was meh. Every bit of good was undone by another bit of Smallville silly shite, they just can't help themselves.

I think 'Persuasion' was the best episode this season.

i hadnt watched smallville in years but caught the JSA one...i couldnt believe how bad the acting had gotten..i thought over time actors became better at there skill...but with this show..i was wronge...i liked the jsa archive footage and cotumes and stuff...and hawkman was pretty cool...except his dark knight wannabe voice when in costume...but the costume was pretty cool...i will prolly catch this episode..but thats about it...the 1st few seasons were good...very good...but seeing what its become...very dissapointing

Don't judge the whole season by the JSA episode. At least don't judge the characters Clark and Chloe. They were marginalized in that episode to the point that they were like extras.

I wonder if Dinah will have any scenes with Carter. She had to have been aware of the JSA long before Clark and company found out about them.Their Black Canary has to be her mother, or at least a mentor. They mentioned all the major members during the flashbacks, but left her out.I don't know how old Dinah Jr is, but maybe Dinah Sr had gotten pregnant and had already retired.Oliver born in 1980, so it wouldn't be a stretch for her to be born in the late 70s.

Pooh: marginalized? after almost a decade of this show, how on earth could their characters not been?? i mean, the plots look weak, the actors look repetitive over and over.
i re-took the show about 2 years ago, i missed like seasons 4-7 or so, but i see that "Blur" thing as a coward and comfortable attempt by the writers or the executives to give a false perception of a dressed-up Vigilante that Clark never was in the Comic books, but, anyway...

Smallville haters need to stay the [frick] out of Smallville stories. It's bullshit, and increasingly annoying.

Anyways, hell yeah! I totally called this as the episode where the Justice Society returns! Now lets get some Jay Garrick, and Ted Grant up in this place! They would be AWESOME! :D

JLanphear - LMAO!!! I used to be a fan, but got tired of going around in circles and not making much progress. Justice was a step in the right direction, but after every step in the right direction, it seems they take five steps backwards. But I'm happy to hear that you love it. Good for you ;-)

This sounds cool all of the cool characters are returning,
It would be cool to see Jay Garrick and the current Flash work together, Wildcat would be cool as well, I hope Cloe or Tess dies both of them were cool ar first but now they are just annoying. When will Bruce Wayne show up that would be the greatest episode ever I would have a Nerdgasm.

McLovin - 4/8/2010, 12:05 PM
SUPERBATSPIDERMAN - The answer is never. They have already talked about this and stated that their contract, it specifically stipulates that they can use every DC character, except Bruce and Diana. Which SUCKS ASS!!!

@kenny38606

Even if its just one small scene, I would love Hawkman and Black Canary to have a conversation about the original Black Canary that appeared in the JSA painting. Even something as simple as "Your mother would be proud" or something like that. Just an acknowledgement is all I'm asking for.

So,...
Clark Kent/Superman
Green Arrow
Black Canary
Cyborg
Hawkman
Stargirl
and ??????

More!!! I want More!!!!!! Does anybody know why Michael Rosenbaum won't come back to Smallville, even for a guest appearance or a flashback even?? What's going on?? CBM should look into that. I haven't seen an article on this issue in a while...

Once, Alan Scott is introduced to the Justice Society episode of SMALLVILLE. Leave out John Stewart, Hal Jordan, and Kyle Raynern and introduce the Green Lantern villains "Solomon Grundy" and "Dr. Polaris".

i've watched the show since episode one and i can totally see how people can hate it. i think they could have condensed all of the story they've told so far into 5, maybe 6 REALLY good solid seasons. and i use to love chloe, but she isn't the same character she was in the first 5 seasons

I feel like someone dies in every season finale... I wish they would focus the finale with the rebirth of someone or something or the introduction of something new and then develop it more the next season. I never feel like they're attempts at closure for fans are that great.
