I have waited for this movie from the day I first saw Iron Man and I am still excited to watch the movie for the 2nd time. For any fanboy, The Avengers is a dream come true. We all know it all started in 2008's Iron Man's post credit scene where Nick Fury popped up and talked about The Avengers Initiative, all fans (including me) got crazy after seeing that scene. And like most of the fans, I also went on to see all previous Marvel movies leading to The Avengers again before the release.
So now to talk about the movie. For after so many months of speculations for the identity of aliens that Loki has a deal with, we come to know about them in just less than 5 minutes after the movie started and it didn't take much time for Nick Fury to get the team ready either. Some other reviews said the movie had too many comedic moments, I do agree it had comedy but you wont feel that they are just throwing stuffs at you to make you laugh. The only joke I didn't like that much was when Tony makes a comment that he caught a SHIELD Agent playing video games and not doing his job and after few minutes we see that agent trying to sneak up and play the game (tetris?). Tom Hiddleston's Loki was more violent this time around. And while I did like the more villainy approach, I will have to say the killing of the certain character has made me sad and angry. Atleast he got good punishment from Hulk.
You really don't need to watch previous MCU Movies before watching The Avengers not like we fellow CBM geeks didn't watch them. Josh Whedon really handled the movie very well. The performance from all actors were great to say the least. Cobie Smulders was cute and cunning in her role as Agent Hill. Scarlet Johansson was witty and skilled spy as Agent Romanoff and the movie also explored a bit from her past. While, Jeremy Renner played for the bad side for most of the time, he was never the less a great addition to the team as professional assassin Hawkeye. Samuel L. Jackson wanted to get the job done as the Director Of SHIELD, Nick Fury. By the way, Cris Evans was commanding the team to do their jobs in the climax as the Super Soldier, Captain America, guess that's the sign of him being the leader in future movies. Chris Hemsworth was great while trying to save his brother from darkness as the Mighty Thor.
The movie had so many great moments that its hard for me to choose the best but I will try to name a few that made me fanboy-ish happy. So, while I think Mark Ruffalo got the least screen time but its also true Hulk was really the show stealer. The crowd went crazy, shouting and clapping whenever Hulk appeared. The best Hulk moment was when the alien war was already started and Banner came to the scene, Cap wanted him to get angry and Banner replied that he is always angry and immediately becoming the Incredible Hulk, punching and stopping the leviathan. Robert Downey Jr. again nails his role as Tony Stark, a scene I really liked of him was when Loki threw him from the Stark Tower and he turned into the Invincible Iron Man while he was still falling. You guys have to see it to believe it. And who can forget the quarrel they all had in the Hellicarrier. I am really excited to see the movie again.
Overall, I have to say the movie was a nice blend of action, comedy, emotion with the addition of little Epicness. I cant be sure how many times I am gonna watch this movie till I get satisfied so just be sure you do the same. The Avengers might very well be the best movie of the year while I'm sure its arguably the best comic book movie. For those wondering, 3D was nice but it caused a little headache a few times.
