Do WB need to reboot their Green Lantern cinematic franchise? Vote in our poll and discuss.

We've been hearing great things about the happenings on set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Signs point to WB trying to establish Justice League as a rival and possible superior comic book brand to Marvel's Avengers juggernaut. No firm plans have been announced for the Green Lantern/Hal Jordan character, with Geoff Johns sharing that all possibilities remain open. What should WB do with this core Justice League character?

Today Geoff Johns answered questions regarding the past and future of the Green Lantern character and franchise on screen, commenting "There's always talk of everything, I can't talk about anything else."

Since then conjecture has exploded online about what DC and WB should do with the comic's onscreen counterpart.  Some fans would like to see Green Lantern rebooted completely.  Some would like to see the character recast and seamlessly integrated into the Justice League film with no reference to the earlier film, ala Marvel's use of Ruffalo/Hulk in Avengers.  A small contingent would even like to see Ryan Reynolds return to the role, albeit under the guidance and tighter reigns of a more assured director like Zach Sneider.

Personally, I think WB's course in addressing the failures of the first film while sating the demands of its core audience should be as straight forward as this:

Just give the fans what they want, WB!  Recast Reynolds, or bring in a competent and charismatic actor to take his place.  My suggestion would be either Bradley Cooper or Jon Hamm.  Flesh out the Earth contingent with other Lanterns such as Jon Stewart, Guy Gardner, and Kyle Rayner (who most fans agree is the best Lantern anyway) and most of all, emphasize the "Corps" aspect of the Green Lantern Corps.

I'm a Marvel fan and I think I identify most wth Green Lantern because it is the most Marvel-esque of all DC characters.  In fact, it's Star Wars-esque is what it is.  Use that strength and fly with it!

A reboot isn't necessary, in fact if you did reboot it we would lose Mark Strong as Sinestro, who gave the best performance in the first film and was its most compelling subplot.  Pay off the end stinger and bring Strong back.  Make his fall from grace and eventual schism, edification of the Yellow Corps and proliferation of the various Corps' and eventual corruption of the Guardians of the Universe, the centrepiece of your next film.

Then once Nekron has been vanquished, drop a tidbit about Darkseid into your after-credits stinger and unify the Justice League and the Green Lanterns in the same way Marvel tie their various chess pieces together with maguffins ranging from SHIELD, to Loki, to the Infinity Stones.

It seems so simple but there's no doubt it will take some hard work, patience, and some briliant writing to do it.

Reboot! Don't have to remake the origin, just let Hal be a GL and Sinestro be a YL and keep Mark Strong as Sinestro! If Ryan Reynolds is up for it, keep him as Hal Jordan as well. Those two were definitely the high lights of the movie, IMO of course.

soft reboot, mark strong was great as sinestro & i did like most of the stuff set in space.

too much focus on earth was a major flaw with the movie.

I say reboot the series. But I want the different GL to already exist in the universe. I would like to hear that the reason Hal, Guy, John & Kyle didn't come to save Earth from Zod was because they were in a different part of the galaxy. Maybe fighting Manhunters that were on their way to Earth.

I would like to see when WB makes a new GL movie it also has Saint Walker in the movie too. Plus no more Earth based constructs. I want to see Hal using his GL ring to make a T-Rex using a Mech or other crazy things like that. No more Hot Wheel cars. Because if a GL ring can make whatever you can think up it doesn't need to make sense to work. Look at Bullet Hell shooters for other weird and crazy ideas. In those games you can fight an octopus that shoots lasers & rockets out of its tentacles so I want to see stuff like that.

Reboot Green Lantern HARD. That being said, keep it Hal Jordan. He's the best and most interesting Green Lantern. Not to mention he's already established to the general audience. Also, Reynolds wasn't bad in the role. If you've seen Buried, then you would know that Reynolds is far from a bad actor. He just makes bad films. Green Lantern being among them.

Everything about that damned film must be forgotten and reset.

If we have a soft reboot......very difficult for Parallax to be included..

Maybe a Re-Imagining of Green Lantern similar to The Incredible Hulk.

If Atrocitus doesn't appear in a future GL movie, [frick] everything ever. Hell I'd like him to get a solo movie.

You need a full reboot, there is virtually no continuity established between Man of Steel and Green Lantern. The difference between The Incredible Hulk and Green Lantern is that they mentioned that Hulk was in New York in The Avengers and destroyed parts of it and Tony Stark showed up in the end credits scene. We need to stop trying to make this happen, it makes no sense and it never will.

My idea for a reboot would be to have Hal Jordan already be a Green Lantern but he was on Oa during the events of Man of Steel, don't dwell on that too much because its not a big deal. They should just follow the secret origins story line completely with Atrocitus and everything. I'm really hoping for the feel of the Nova Corps from GOTG except on a larger scale and better....as it is in the comics. I liked the tone of Green Lantern, and as much as I want Mark Strong back as Sinestro...the movie was awful.

I think the only things done well in the first one was acting. I thought Reynolds was great, Mark Strong was a great Sinestro and Blake Lively was a fine Carol Farris. The 2nd was Sinestro. He was very well done and was set up perfectly for a 2nd.

But total reboot. Hal Jordan, Manhunters as the first villain. Atrocitus and Black Hand in #2 and Sinestro corps in 3rd
