Marvel casting news is a hot topic this past week or so. We've had Tommy Lee Jones and Dominic Cooper confirmed for roles in The First Avenger: Captain America. Also, over the weekend two separate stories help to give credence to each other that we might see Carol Danvers/Ms. Marvel in The Avengers played by either Alice Eve or Malin Akerman. AvengerNews is reporting we may have more Marvel casting news this week involving Josh Holloway (Lost):

Apparently there’s been talk between Marvel and his [Josh Holloway] group to play a “lead” role in an upcoming Marvel film. We mention a “lead” role because these bigger actors often won’t sign “retainers”, meaning everything should be 100% locked (character, film, etc) for Josh once he’s signed the dotted line.


At this point the role or movie are not known but AvengerNews has assembled this short list based on "the subtle hints we've received."



Hank Pym (The Avengers or the planned Ant-Man solo movie)



Clint Barton/Hawkeye (possible S.H.I.E.L.D. member in The Avengers and the planned S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off movie)




Timothy “Dum Dum” Dugan (high ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. member in The Avengers and lead role in the planned S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off movie)

Holloway is one of my favourite actors so this is fantastic news! Excellent find DOGS! :) Personally, I've always hoped that he'd play Corsair but Hawkeye would be awesome! (even though Jeremy Renner is still my #1 choice!)

Two Gun Kid is good character that would make a fine movie. I agree. And Holloway would rock that out six ways till Sunday... that's true too.

But personally I would like to see Holloway aim much much higher. A more high profile role to showcase his talent

I could definitely see Holloway as Hawkeye or some version of Pym. Don't see him as Dum Dum though.

@Lee- I'd have to say Two Gun Kid is not some character we are going to see any time soon and certainly not Holloway.

Holloway said on one of the Season 1 extras that he was doing a scene without the accent and JJ encouraged him to use it. The accent is not a problem.

I'm still Team Jeremy Renner for Hawkeye but I think Josh could be a very good Clint too. Whatever the role is I really hope this happens, I'd be really happy to have Josh as part of the Marvel universe.

What the hell? Why would you waste a talented actor and personality like Holloway on a minor roll? Plus it says it would be a lead role. I am all for Hawkeye or Pym.

I guess he could be cast as a villain, but I would rather see him on the good side of things.

between now to 2012 they got 4 movies coming out. I think we're focusing a little too much on the Avengers casting. What about Cap and Ant-man movie roles?
