Jim Starlin Clarifies His Thanos In AVENGERS 2 Comments

Thanos creator Jim Starlin revealed a while back that the Mad Titan -- who was glimpsed in The Avengers after credits scene -- would pop up The Avengers 2, but now he's backtracked a little. Read on for details.

Last year at a convention a fan asked Thanos creator Jim Starlin about the character's involvement in Avengers 2 to which the writer replied: "Thanos would appear in both Guardians & Avengers 2". Well it turns out that may not have been the truth, as Starlin today clarified his comments.

“Setting the record straight: It keeps getting reported that I claimed that Thanos will be in both the upcoming Guardians of the Universe [sic] and Avengers II movies. Sort of true but not really. All I said, in some interview way back when, was that I had heard (as in convention scuttlebutt) that the Titan would be in both movies. I have absolutely nothing to do with Marvel films and not all that much with Marvel Comics. So I am no reliable source to quote on anything to do with what’s happening in any future Marvel film.”

I knew it! I've been saying all along that he WON'T be the main villain of AVengers 2!

I assumed he'd be held back for Avengers 3.

I was hoping he'd be in the 2nd and Ultron would be in the third. If this is true, my theory is blown out.

this doesn't confirm that thanos wont be in the movie, he's just saying denying the claim that he's alleged to have made, setting the record straight so to speak. Thanos will be in The Avengers 2 in some capacity and form, dont see the point in churning out another 5 or 6 movies before they use him properly. It would have been like introducing loki in thor then not using him as an avengers villian until the avengers 2, which would have been redundant.

Change the title around. He didn't say that Thanos wasn't in GOTG or Avengers 2. He said he had no control over either. Plus he didn't even say he didn't think he would be in there.

Change the title to this: Thanos Creator, Jim Starlin, Dishes On If He Is Involved In Guardians Of The Galaxy Or Avengers 2

Teaser: Does Jim Starlin have any rights to Thanos possibly keeping him from being in any MCU movies? Is he involved with the MCU in any way? Make the jump to find out!

Other wise it's an ok article. Might want to add a synopsis to both GOTG and Avengers 2 (your own) below though. It can be short but more than 2 lines.

At any rate, I doubt Thanos will be in Avengers 2 as the main villain. Perhaps behind the scenes but not the main villain. I'm thinking Masters of Evil for Avengers 2. In GOTG he's a must though!

Thanos will be in the Avengers 2 as will the Other and Loki, but I'm honestly more interested in seeing Adam Warlock when Marvel likely introduces him in Phase 3.

Everybody calm down. Thanos will be in Avengers 2. Why would he not be? He was in the freaking post credit sequence at the end of Avengers 1. Basically Jim Starlin is saying he is not in the loop at the Marvel cinematic universe. So he has no clue what they are going to do.

I think Thanos makes a brief appearance but I think we will get more human villains for the sequel. Masters of Evil maybe. Joss wants to make this baby more intimate. Brining in a 12 foot cosmic killer will not do that. I expect some allussion to Thanos behind the curtains.

He doesn't need 2 be in part 2.They just need 2 have him pulling the strings once again in the after credit scene.I personally want him 4 part 3.They need more heroes plain and simple.

I don't think Thanos is the villain in Avengers 2 OR 3. I think Phase 2 and 3 are going to build up to a crossover involving all the Marvel (Studios) characters that will be separate from Avengers. If the other studios are able to get together (doubt it) you might see FF, X Men and Spidey involved too, but that's a lot of assumption. I think at the very least you'll see a Thanos centered movie in or as a result of phase 3.

I watched that scene one more time, still hard to believe that we actually saw THANOS on the silver screen last year. That clip makes me smile every time I watch it. Just awesome.
