Well at least it's not Zak Penn writing, I don't know who Whedon is though, wasn't he supposed to make Wonder Woman?

Well, this is brilliant! I've been worried about The Avengers ever since Zak Penn was announced as writing the script! (the guy wrote shit like Fantastic Four...what were Marvel ever thinking!?!) At least now we know the story will be good...just look at Whedon's work on Astonishing X-Men!

@Josh- I agree. Astonishing X-Men was great! Penn has had some hits and misses...mostly misses, so this is good news to me!

@ tea

the difference being the fact that Whedon actually has experience with making movies and films already. Millar did not.

i think this is an awesome thing!!!!

Well it had better be a group effort with marvel because giving 1 guy to much power could wreck this thing .

tea: That's a good point when it comes to directing this movie but his work on Astonishing X-Men definitely means something if he's going to rewrite the script! :)

ecksmanfan: Too right! Penn is a hack! The Incredible Hulk is probably the only decent thing he's done and that was far from perfect! Whedon is the best guy for this job...as for directing? I'm still not completely sure!

Ah, Tea you're always soooo negative! LOL

I'm not 100% sold on Whedon, but he brings a lot more to the table than Letterier. With Marvel and Favreau guiding him we will have a good blend of action and drama.

if hes involved in the script, i have more confidence that he will do a good job.

to whedon's credit, the buffy movie was changed by the rubuens, hence the shift for the tv show (thats how it was originally intended), likewise with alien ressurection that was completely rewritten after his initial draft was put forward.

he also wrote toy story, and serenity, as well as numerous enesamble group tv shows like angel, firefly and buffy.

personally i think its a bold move by marvel, but one that could pay off amazingly, just look at how they're choices have gone thus far.

I thought he was doing the terminator franchise too. He beeter just re tweak the script. Don't rewrite the entire thing.

@Josh- Yeah, still riding the fence on whether or not I want him to direct. It gives me a bit more confidence that he has some say in the script, as the vision and final product will be more in synch. I need to stop riding the fence like this though, the splinters are killing my ass.

WHEDON's X-MEN wasn't that great but it was okay and DOLLHOUSE is SH1TE!!

Only thing going for him is ANGEL, BUFFY and FIREFLY, but DOLLHOUSE is total SH1T!!! : P

Wont be no way near as bad as this SPIDEY REBOOT though so theres hope for this lol!

Though i'm a betting man he'll love this pick for WASP!!

@ tea

You name all the scripts of Whedon's that were torn apart. You left out Toy Story and Speed, 2 movies with great scripts. He was nominated for an Oscar for Toy Story, and re-wrote 95% of the dialogue in Speed.
