@dbapz actually it doesn't suck for paramount they get a cut from the billion dollars and they've done absolutely nothing. Sure not as much as disney are making yet I doubt paramount are bothered when there still getting money from a property that isn't theres.

If they make a trilogy, I sure hope it won't become the next Pirates of the Caribbean. I mean, it is Disney. They'll [frick] it up at some point.

Awesome news! Make mine marvel! I agree with 3 movies a year and @superargo that's a great reason for marvel heroes to stare at boobs. " Just checking if Antman was in there!" Not that they ever needed a reason to stare at boobs.

Awesome. And Disney needs to up it to their original plan of making 3 to 4 superhero movies a year. Just don't release them all in the summer. One in spring, two in summer, and one in fall/winter. Probably in the week before Christmas or something would be nice. :D

Don't worry Nolanites. Everyone on this site is real sure TDKR will surpass that. Hahaha
Finally big, beautiful and colorful heroes and I couldn't be happier. I am a fan of Batman (who wouldn't be?) but people respond to color and these are the real heroes of my youth

DISNEY IS SO SO SOOOOO HAPPY THEY BOUGHT MARVEL AND LET THEM DO THEIR THING. TO AGREE TO ALLOW MARVEL FULL REIGN OF ARTISTIC FREEDOM TO ALLOW MARVEL TO DO IT THEIR VERY OWN WAY... DISNEY KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID AND THEY ARE REAPING THE REWARDS..THIS OPENS THE DOOR, THE DOOR WAS ALREADY OPEN, BUT DEFINITELY THIS OPENS IT ALL THE WAY UP.

With 3D it's literally impossible for Dark Knight rises to make as much money as Avengers.

Impossible, there are just not enough screens in America to pull it off. The math speaks for itself.

Also , Marvel/Disney. cannot "Buy back" its franchises. The contracts are not done that way.

The only way Marvel can get the characters back is if the current license lapses in production (Usually one movie every 3-4 years.

Man, do I need to give an online class here on how licensing and options work? )

@dbapz

Though you are quite correct. I believe this type of money is made for a couple of reasons.

Sequels to good movies make a ton of money and this movie can certainly be placed into that category though not fully.

Good critical acclaim will get people who have never heard of the movie (like that is possible with the marketing) to at least be interested.

Good word of mouth. This happens because the movie is just too good to wait to see, or it needs to be enjoyed in the movie theater.

And lastly, repeat viewings. This doesn't always mean good, but usually mean exciting or just plain fun to watch.

It would be my argument that this movie covers most if not all of these reasons (which includes being a good movie) and therefore is raking in the money.

The best part of it is that Disney will likely stop shitting pirates movies and giving Marvel some good space for more releases! YEAH!
