That looks good, and true to the comic, but very physically impossible.

Hmm, not sure about the rotors. I don't see mere aerodynamics holding something that huge up. Giant thrusters on the other hand, those look a little more buyable and each one probably having it's own giant sized arc reactor to power it. God, the ammount of government $ needed to use just one of those things would be astronomical. Like it would probably cost $10 million a minute to keep that thing in the air. Still, it's a pretty cool pic otherwise. But I'd seriously think about losing the rotors, Marvel.

Anyone that reads the comics knows that the helicarrier gets blown up or crashes every Tuesday, lol.

if this thing doesn't get destroyed in the movie i'm boycotting everything marvel does from now on. :)

lol, i think you're taking things a little too seriously. Thats straight out of the comics, bud :)

Still its close enough! : P

That is kind of why I don't like it. I know there is no true level of realism in a comic book movie, but this looks more out of place in the movie world they have made so far.

I prefer the comic book version because this looks a little too much like a flying submarine for my liking to be honest! However, I'm just psyched to see the Helicarrier on the big screen, so I can cope with a few minor adjustments like in the above pictures as it still looks pretty damned cool! :)

NICE!...IM LOOKING 4WARD 2 SEEING THIS COME ALIVE...

HMM THEY WERE THINKING OF USING THE HELLICARRIER IN IM2?

I WONDER IF THEY SUBSTITUTED IT FOR THE LOCATION TOWARDS THE END WHEN FURY WAS TALKING 2 STARK WITH THE SCREENS WITH MAPS AND HULK CULVER U NEWS FOOTAGE IN THE BACKGROUND

it looks like the cut off the top of a carrier and welded it on top of the hindenburg.

come on man, i'm an admitted Marvel whore, but there's plenty of DC that i like as well. I'm a comic fan, i don't limit myself to one company or another.

I'm sure there's plenty out there by Marvel that you would like if you gave it a chance. :)

This is a world where the Norse Gods exist, radiation causes men to mutate into green monsters, and a man can outfly an F22 Raptor with rockets fit snugly into his boots... yet people are having a hard time believing in a floating aircraft carrier?

that would be sweet if they had an after credits scene for Thor or Cap that shows the carries hovering into the scene.

Hey, I was just thinking...Who saw "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow"? (it didn't do that well, I believe) That actually had a heli-carrier type craft in it as well, with Angelena Jolie's character in charge of it instead of good, ol'Nick (she DID have an eye patch though, so you could see the obvious influences).
Paulley
Paulley - 10/14/2010, 1:53 PM
they had one in Doctor Who too.. UNIT used one... and Doctor Who comics was published by Marvel once and they had crossovers too

OK.let me get this straight:Did someone say they were going to build the Helicarrier ON TOP of the Convention Center for Comic-Con?REALLY? Have you SEEN the roof? I'm calling shenanigans on that rumor as a native San Diegan. I can see them dressing up the USS Midway on the bay with Shield insignias and save a whole lotta money more than I can see this.
savagevandar
savagevandar - 10/14/2010, 2:45 PM
@CorndogBurglar

I know it's straight out of the comics but the movies aren't exactly the comics now, are they? Just a little realism/plausibility can help make the fantastic go down better with general audiences. I'm not saying DON't have the helicarriers in the movie. I'm just saying why not use jet/thrust propulsion since it has already been established well in the 2 Iron Man movies.

not identical but honest to the comics

I say go with jets as well. Props could not possibly work.

Other than that I love it.

@ROBBEATZZZ

Good call on the scene. I was thinking the same thing myself. It did not seem like a proper set and I wondered why. Now I think I know.
