WARNING!! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK! THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED...

I guess I should start off by informing readers that the reason why I am reviewing a film from 1984 in the middle of 2012 is because I saw it (Supergirl, of course) on clearance at a bookstore and bought it because I liked Superman: The Movie (yes, "The Movie" is technically in the title. Although it's optional, I'm going to keep "The Movie" because that's what it says on the posters, trailer, blu-ray, DVD, ETC.) and had never seen it before. Was it worth the money? Lets find out.

The plot of the film involves magic, sorcery, magic wands, a made-up villain, Supergirl chasing horses, Supergirl being able to "morph," and a lot of WTF moments. Where they able to make it work? Considering I listed WTF moments, NO. The film starts off on... New Krypton? Well, I had to Wiki it and it was Argo City, the only city able to survive Kryptons death (go to Wikipedia for more info). They really should have explained that. In the city, we are introduced to Zultar and Kara Zor-El, soon to be Supergirl. Kara Zor-El is the cousin of Kal-El. How she knows his Earth name (Clark Kent), his superhero name (Superman), where he works (Daily Planet), who Lois Lane is, his appearance, and everything else remains a mystery considering Earth is on the other side of space. Zultar, a scientist, has stolen (with intentions of giving it back) a magical orb, which is an important powerful treasure. If their technology is supposed to be years ahead of ours, wouldn't alarms be going off or something? The orb is accidentally set off to Earth where it conveniently lands in the United States. Kara idioticly gets on a ship and goes after it. When she comes to Earth, she has all the powers Superman does. But the film seems to give her random powers as it goes on. Like the ability to change her appearance by morphing. She first does this to go to boarding school. If she knows nothing about the school or even that it is a school than WHY WOULD SHE DO THIS!! The villain. This movie is all about magic wands and sorcery. This leads us to our villain. Selena. She ends up finding the orb before Supergirl, using it to put a guy under a trance so she can force him to date her. Man, she is desperate. And why would they name her Selena when one of DC Comics' most iconic villains is Selena Kyle (Catwoman). And why didn't they just use some villain from the comics like Morgan LeFay? Although its not enough to ruin a movie, I have a minor pet peeve of making villains up for superhero films when there's villains in the comics. So pretty much Supergirl saves the guy, gets the orb and goes back to Argo. End of story. Man I hate this movie.

Overall, I will have to rate this movie 7% out of a possible 100. It's that bad. This movie was TERRIBLE. Unless you are a fan off "bad" movies, you probably don't want watch this movie. However, we all have our opinions. If you are actually a fan of this movie, it'll be interesting reading about it in the comments. But no hostile comments, please. I wouldn't judge you for your opinions.

Welcome to the history of the CBM. I saw this when we didn't have the luxery of home viewing on this planet. On the big screen, where it was meant to be seen. And it still sucked (and not in a good way).
