Justice League (Inspired by the Animated Series) Fancast

Justice League (Inspired by the Animated Series) Fancast

Adding to the current trend of JL fancasts showering the Fan Fic section, the jacobcitybros decided to put their two cents in with performers that should be considered for the big screen adaption.

With the Justice League film still on the drawing boards, we think it is imperative that the fans continue to create inspired fan-fics & fancasts; especially now with the recent news that Warner Bros. has yet to hire a scribe!

Production Crew

Director – Sam Raimi or Matthew Vaughn

Raimi or Vaughn photo Director-SamRaimiorMatthewVaughn_zps2a6b78d9.jpg

bigshow2312: We both couldn’t settle on one director, being that both are ideal & talented for the job. Not to mention they’re fan favorites and have shown that they can work with a big production.

Writers- Jonathan Nolan, David S. Goyer

 photo Writers-JonathanNolanampDavidSGoyer_zps56cc0717.jpg

bigshow2312: This was really a no-brainer, Goyer and Nolan are the masterminds behind the lauded Dark Knight Trilogy and I think these two are the perfect guys to bring a well written Justice League film to the big screen. To satisfy the fans, their challenges will be a lot more difficult to face, considering the pressure of making a reply to the superhero-group film Avengers.

Producers - Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Christopher Nolan & Emma Thomas

Nolans & Snyder photo Producers-NolansampSnyders_zps7e1ac7dd.jpg

bigshow2312: It’s apparent that both wives of these star directors has had a hand in the production of their husbands film. Now, imagine if the both couples were all head producers of the Justice League film!

Cinematographer – Roger Deakins

Deakins photo Cinematographer-RogerDeakins_zps0cb1fa28.jpg

bigshow2312: To make this an epic film, you’re going to need an experienced DP that can match or exceed the work of the Avenger’s cameraman Seamus McGarvey. His job will be rough, but I think he has the familiarity of giving the film justice.

Music – Joe Kraemer

Kraemer photo Composer-JoeKraemer_zps514b75e4.jpg

bigshow2312: Kraemer may not be as popular as the other members of our production crew, but after watching 2012’s Jack Reacher, I couldn’t help but think how his musical style is what we need for this Justice League film. Our only hope is that he can perhaps re-create the classic theme-song from the animated series.

VFX – Double Negative

 photo VFXndashDoubleNegative2_zpsc0039a60.jpg

dmb1511: Double Negative has provided the visual effects for Captain America TFA, several of the Harry Potter films and has developed some of the most gorgeous concepts of this age.

Costume Design – James Acheson & Lindy Hemming

Acheson & Hemming photo CostumeDesignndashJamesAchesonampLindyHemming_zpsa1f3b65b.jpg

bigshow2312: Another no brainer here. I don’t think it would be necessary to hire anyone else but the masterminds that gave us the dazzling outfits of the Man of Steel & the Dark Knight. It would be quite interesting to see if the two can join creative forces mirroring the attires worn from DC’s New 52 (i.e. the vanished red trunks of Superman).

Editor – Christopher Rouse

 photo EditorndashChristopherRouse_zps1df7a5e2.jpg

bigshow2312: If you have Raimi or Vaughn as the director of a big-budget superhero flick, it is certain that they won’t avoid the Kathryn Bigelow route: have over 200 hours of footage. Oscar winner Rouse was our ideal man for the job, especially for a job well done on the classic film The Bourne Ultimatum.

Cast (Heroes Founding)

Henry Cavill – Superman

Cavill photo Cavill_zps35dad840.jpg

dmb1511: Cavill shocked me because he arose out of nowhere and after seeing all of his trailers for the upcoming Superman films I am more excited than all of the Man of Steel fans and “Kryptonites” I know. I have complete faith that he will be the best Superman selected since the “S” was donned (and I’m not even a superman fan).

Christian Bale – Batman

Bale photo Bale_zps7a5944ec.jpg

bigshow2312: Hear me out: I for one don’t think it is coherent that Warner Bros would utterly end their major cash-cow based on the assumption that their more colorful fictional characters can’t exist in the Nolan Series. Did I mention that this venerated universe is also fictional? Look guys, can we trust the guy that said he wouldn’t make any more Batman films yet he produced the Man of Steel film? He also swore up-and-down that Talia al Ghul wasn’t going to appear in TDKR but look what happened; don’t get me started on John Blake. Bottom line, don’t be surprised if Bale is in fact attached to the JL film.

Gina Carano – Wonder Woman

 photo Carano_zps092a0f39.jpg

dmb1511: Haywire was pretty much Gina Carano’s audition tape for Wonder-Woman. I can’t be the only person who was impressed with it. Some may raise the argument that she needs to deliver more emotion (bigshow), but I don’t think the Warrior Princess of Themyscira needs to be extremely emotional. Carano’s fighting is fluid, it looks real and she sounds a lot like Susan Eisenberg. Perfect!

Omari Hardwick – Green Lantern (John Stewart)

 photo Hardwick_zpsa38d546a.jpg

dmb1511: We selected Hardwick after seeing his appearance in For Colored Girls. Though most of his rolls are small he is our John Stewart. I saw Stewart’s anger, aggression & mannerisms in his scene of the movie and we knew Hardwick would be our level headed hero.

Michelle Rodriguez – Hawkgirl

Rodriguez photo Rodriguez_zps0656865e.jpg

bigshow2312: A really tough decision here, but we knew that we needed an actress that had action experience and would really look amazing wielding a mace.

Djimon Hounsou - Martian Manhunter

Hounsou photo Hounsou_zpsb0859342.jpg

dmb1511: Hounsou is an otherworldly actor that is every bit as powerful as the character he will play. Judging from his Blood Diamond performance, exhibiting emotion wouldn't be a problem for the guy.

Matthew Lewis – The Flash (Wally West)

Lewis photo Lewis_zps5596fa2d.jpg

bigshow2312: I can see how this choice could confuse some of you, but I think the shy and clumsy image of the British actor is long gone. Like Emma Watson, I believe he’s trying to shake his child star image. In addition, I hope that he can take this role seriously considering his good looks & comical attributes.

Cast (Villains)

Christoph Waltz – Lex Luthor

Waltz photo Waltz_zps74e27b8d.jpg

bigshow2312: You can’t have the Legion of Doom without the CEO Lex Luthor. However, audiences are tired of the cartoonish incarnations of the character and needs an actor that can bring Luthor justice; Waltz was our final choice. The German actor is a master at the art, earning himself tons of awards and tons of offers. Let this be a film he won’t refuse, for Waltz would totally look bad-ass in bald!

Robert Maillet - Solomon Grundy

Maillet photo RobertMaillet_zps168f99c2.jpg

dmb1511: Maillet weighing in at 350 pounds at 6’11 can be seen in both The Immortals and Sherlock Homes. I selected him not only because of his size and outstanding presence, but because we knew he wouldn’t have a problem in playing an unmovable henchman.

Milla Jovovich – Cheetah

Jovovich photo Jovovich_zps289baf26.jpg

bigshow2312: Not only does a thespian need the acting chops for this role, but also the physical aspect. Jovovich is the all-American action superstar and would be the ultimate actress for the role.

Mark Strong – Sinestro

Strong photo Strong_zps86e5146d.jpg

dmb1511: I will never say it enough. Mark Strong was the most under-utilized part of the Green Lantern film. He was my favorite character in Sherlock Holmes for he installed a sense of fear into that film. It would be a disappointment if he wasn’t casted in the JL film. Mark Strong is Sinestro.

Karel Roden – Captain Cold

Roden photo Roden_zpsf130c279.jpg

dmb1511: Captain Cold’s character is the most original ice powered villain DC has. He has to be ruthless in order to hold his own alongside the villain line up. Roden was awesome in Hellboy, and could really make for a powerful villain.

Jimmy Jean-Louis – Black Manta

Louis photo Louis_zpse1abab45.jpg

bigshow2312: Haitian model and actor Jimmy Jean-Louis has an amazing voice and quiet an impressive global appeal (you have to hear it to believe it). I trust this guy’s voice will send shrills down your spine, once he crowns himself.

Philip Seymour Hoffman – Gorilla Grodd

 photo Hoffman_zps7af08663.jpg

dmb1511: Hoffman is Grodd. This character needs to equal that of Luthor’s, but the struggle of power between the two will ultimately lead to their downfall and they will blind each other to a higher power.

Cast (Supporting)

Jai Courtney – Aquaman

Courtney photo Courtney_zps5bf7712a.jpg

dmb1511: When I first saw Spartacus, I selected him to play The King of the Seven Seas. Since Spartacus, Courtney has been given more prominent roles including his part in the underrated Jack Reacher (can’t wait to see what he’ll do in Die Hard 5). He has done nothing but impress me.

Bryce Dallas Howard – Mera

Howard photo Howard_zps72c919e6.jpg

dmb1511: Bryce Dallas Howard isn’t very distinguished, but her best feature is her voice (as seen by her displayed works).

Amy Adams – Lois Lane

 photo Adams_zps12b9d914.jpg

bigshow2312: Adams the incumbent, wasn’t our initial choice mainly because of her age. I do believe she was chosen for her acting abilities and range rather than her age. Let’s all hope she’ll bring something more to the big screen than just the damsel-in-distress.

Uma Thurman - Hippolyta

Thurman photo Thurman_zps79661ee5.jpg

dmb1511: Hippolyta’s character needs to be the old-timer that can hang with the young heroes as well as clearing the head of the young Amazonian. Uma Thurman is nothing short of awesome and would have been a fantastic Amazonian princess herself years ago had Warner Bros made the move.

Glorious Gordon Godfrey – Michael C Hall

Hall photo Hall_zps41902bb5.jpg

dmb1511: Hall-Glorious Gordon Godfrey’s motives are not well known to many, but I selected Michael C. Hall to portray him because of evil visage and acting abilities. Godfrey’s roll is to herald Darkseid by causing trouble for the league legally (an easter-egg to a sequel if you will).

James Van der Beek - Steven Trevor

Van Der Beek photo VanderBeek_zps891a6a48.jpg

bigshow2312: Most known for playing the central character in the hit TV series Dawson’s Creek, Van der Beek would have no problem playing the suave playboy and lover of Diana. Quite honestly, Van der Beek is the perfect choice.

Linda Park – Jamie Chung

 photo Chung_zpsfbe20d05.jpg

bigshow2312: Chung is becoming fairly popular and isn’t too bad of an actress. I think her beauty and slight coyness works for this character, what do you think?

Alfred Pennyworth – Michael Cain

 photo Caine_zpsd6362a0f.jpg

dmb1511: Alfred will be in the JL film to provide moral support for The Dark Knight. I like Michael Cain because he added more to the character than just a butler. As much as I like Michael Gough as Alfred he was just the butler. Cain contrasts him by denying Wayne service (because he’s aging) and taking time to himself (adding humor to each film).

Marianne Jean-Baptiste – Amanda Waller

Baptiste photo Baptiste_zpsa57ca651.jpg

bigshow2312: This is an apparent recast, not to imply that Angela Bassett is a bad actress but she was definitely a miscast. Baptiste has a certain quality and warmth that Bassett frankly doesn’t possess (still an A-list thespian). Luckily, this is a minor recast- nothing serious.

Black History Facts

Frederick Jones held over 60 patents, with most of them pertaining to refrigeration. His portable air conditioner was used in World War II to preserve medicine and blood serum.

George Carruthers invented the far ultraviolet electrographic camera, used in the 1972 Apollo 16 mission. This invention revealed new features in Earth's far-outer atmosphere and deep-space objects from the perspective of the lunar surface. Carruthers was inducted into the National Inventor's Hall of Fame in 2003.

Garrett Augustus Morgan invented, among many other things, a three-way automatic stop sign, which he sold to General Electric. It was used in the U.S. until the three-light traffic sign was developed.

Btw BALE be cool in a JL movie, but don't want NOLAN anywhere near it after that crap he pulled of the 10 minutes at the end of RISES.... brings a bad taste in my mouth still, not even watched it back on DVD/Blu-ray yet, that's a record for me. I enjoyed Rises till the last 10 mins... still always have BEGINS and TDK - Awesome movies to the core!

I would literally shit myself if Bale comes back, in a good way. I completely agree with you that theres no reason that Bales Batman cant fit in with the JL. I never liked the idea of Batman in the comics being so perfect as a man, I thought it subtracted from the idea that he is just a man. He's highly intelligent and highly trained, and his experiance would bring something to the team. I think it would even add to Batmans effect on the world of superheroes for them to continue past TDKR. His example of herosim could maybe inspire those like Flash later on to use his poweres like he did. Since were not getting a Justice League film for awhile now, they could squeeze in 2 or so films explaining Bales return.

I'm actually writing a script/outline for a two-part sequel to TDKR that explains Bales return, and so far I dont think it feels forced or desperate at all, it feels natural. Its not impossible.

I dont think there was a single choice I didnt like here. Love Carano as WW, Omari Hardwick as GL is genius. Lewis for Flash is the only one I was worried about, for obvious reasons, but he has potential.

Awesome cast in my opinion.

I swear I almost hope that Cavill sucks ass as Superman just so people would stop putting him in these fancasts! I almost always stop reading as soon as I see him and Bale. Bale is done! Deal with it, and he wasn't a great Batman anyway! Cavill LOOKS the part just fine, but no one knows if he will be a good Superman yet! Honestly, I have yet to see a movie where he appears to even be a good actor!
Superman-Henry Cavill
Batman-Christian Bale
Flash-John Wesley Shipp
Green Arrow-Steve Amell
Joker-Jack Nicholson
Martian Manhunter-David Ogden Stiers
Green Lantern-Ryan Reynolds
Wonder Woman-Adrianne Palicki
Lex Luthor-Kevin Spacey
See THAT original fancast? It's all mine! There is none other like it! All MY choices, and no one else's hahaha Maybe I should make a fancast too!

First of all, please ignore nerdman81's comment. He's an asshole who's always full of negativity and enjoy's insulting fellow CBMers.

Anyway, I applaud you guys for the amount of effort you put into this, but there are a few that I disagree with. Christian Bale is done with Batman and I don't see Michelle Rodriguez as Hawkgirl. But still great job overall and keep up the good work ;)

I don't really see how this is different than any fan cast not inspired by the animated series tbh. Bale and Cavill, while I hate them being in fan casts anyways, don't even look like the characters from the series. Carano seems too buff for the Wonder Woman of the show too. Is Michelle Rodriguez even of the right ethnicity?

@DaRaginScotsman I'm not full of negativity, I just call things the way a lot of you are too chicken shit to call them! In this case, it was just a case of unoriginality that runs rampant in fancasts. When you use other people's ideas, and pass them off as your own, it is just lazy, and no effort is needed. That's all I was getting at.

I don't enjoy insulting fellow CBMers at all! Far from it, but when you have people that try to pass off hackneyed, copied ideas, and say "oh this is MINE" I'm not afraid to call someone out. Am I saying this fancast is bad? No! I wouldn't know because I stopped reading after the FIRST TWO PICKS were guys ALREADY playing or have played these characters. It's laziness!

Just because you will give a pass to anything, and everything that's put in front of you, is YOUR problem. The point of these threads is to not only air your rabid praise on everything that comes along, but to also air your grievances. You act as though I'm the only one who speaks his mind around here.

I will however, give you something that will certainly make your heart all aflutter! Since you are so ready and willing to gobble up everything put before you, I present thee with a bowl of dicks! Munch away douche nozzle!

Justice League (2015) FANCAST!!!
CaptainDC
CaptainDC - 2/15/2013, 7:09 AM
This Is an awesome fan cast, mostly everything is spot on. My only complaints are The Flash should be casted as someone a little bigger with some more star power. With this casting you can easily see The Flash being a second-tier character, and he doesn't deserve that. For the justice league to be successful every character needs to have power and equal greatness on the screen. That's what made The Avengers so great, and would make the Justice league great as well. May I suggest Bradley cooper for the roll? He has the attitude, swagger, and power to make the Flash a great character.

My only other compliant comes in on your green lantern choice. Although I understand you did your castings based off of the animated show, I don't think this actor and John Stewart share that quality that I described before. Put Hal Jordan in there with Ryan Reynolds and you got exactly what the Justice League needs to be a great movie.

Overall, this is a fantastic fan cast, and if taken the two suggestions I provided, Warner Brothers should really take a look at this and make it happen

Nolan and Bale are done with Batman and Man of Steel is not looking up to par...
bigshow2312
bigshow2312 - 2/17/2013, 8:57 PM
Thanks guys for the comments!

Batman: I understand a few of you might not agree on the Batman pick. I don't know how else to explain myself on that. I truly believe that Nolan isn't done with the character just yet. Please scroll back up and re-read my thoughts. I don't understand some of the comments made that Nolan and Bale are done, even with the confusing last 10 minutes of TDKR.

Flash: The argument that star power is needed is invalid; doesn't always work. Nobody knew who Hemmsworth and Gregg were; all really considered unknown actors until the Avengers initiative. On the other hand, WB were relying on the star-power of Ryan Reynolds on the GL film, and look where that got them. You just need talented and dedicated actors to make a superhero film work.

Lex Luthor: He's old but you have to admit that this was an inspired choice

Hawkgirl: A lot of ppl weren't expecting this pick but I believe it would work out fine. As far as race swapping the character, I think its completely stupid to question the choice based on race rather than acting abilities. BTW the woman who voices the character is of Hispanic (Brown) heritage.
