With the
Justice League film still on the drawing boards, we think it is imperative that the fans continue to create inspired fan-fics & fancasts; especially now with the recent news that Warner Bros. has yet to hire a scribe!
Production Crew
Director – Sam Raimi or Matthew Vaughn
bigshow2312: We both couldn’t settle on one director, being that both are ideal & talented for the job. Not to mention they’re fan favorites and have shown that they can work with a big production.
Writers- Jonathan Nolan, David S. Goyer
bigshow2312: This was really a no-brainer, Goyer and Nolan are the masterminds behind the lauded
Dark Knight Trilogy and I think these two are the perfect guys to bring a well written
Justice League film to the big screen. To satisfy the fans, their challenges will be a lot more difficult to face, considering the pressure of making a reply to the superhero-group film
Avengers.
Producers - Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Christopher Nolan & Emma Thomas
bigshow2312: It’s apparent that both wives of these star directors has had a hand in the production of their husbands film. Now, imagine if the both couples were all head producers of the
Justice League film!
Cinematographer – Roger Deakins
bigshow2312: To make this an epic film, you’re going to need an experienced DP that can match or exceed the work of the
Avenger’s cameraman Seamus McGarvey. His job will be rough, but I think he has the familiarity of giving the film justice.
Music – Joe Kraemer
bigshow2312: Kraemer may not be as popular as the other members of our production crew, but after watching 2012’s
Jack Reacher, I couldn’t help but think how his musical style is what we need for this
Justice League film. Our only hope is that he can perhaps re-create the classic theme-song from the animated series.
VFX – Double Negative
dmb1511: Double Negative has provided the visual effects for
Captain America TFA, several of the
Harry Potter films and has developed some of the most gorgeous concepts of this age.
Costume Design – James Acheson & Lindy Hemming
bigshow2312: Another no brainer here. I don’t think it would be necessary to hire anyone else but the masterminds that gave us the dazzling outfits of the
Man of Steel & the
Dark Knight. It would be quite interesting to see if the two can join creative forces mirroring the attires worn from DC’s New 52 (i.e. the vanished red trunks of
Superman).
Editor – Christopher Rouse
bigshow2312: If you have Raimi or Vaughn as the director of a big-budget superhero flick, it is certain that they won’t avoid the Kathryn Bigelow route: have over 200 hours of footage. Oscar winner Rouse was our ideal man for the job, especially for a job well done on the classic film
The Bourne Ultimatum.
Cast (Heroes Founding)
Henry Cavill – Superman
dmb1511: Cavill shocked me because he arose out of nowhere and after seeing all of his trailers for the upcoming Superman films I am more excited than all of the Man of Steel fans and “Kryptonites” I know. I have complete faith that he will be the best Superman selected since the “S” was donned (and I’m not even a superman fan).
Christian Bale – Batman
bigshow2312: Hear me out: I for one don’t think it is coherent that Warner Bros would utterly end their major cash-cow based on the assumption that their more colorful fictional characters can’t exist in the
Nolan Series. Did I mention that this venerated universe is also fictional? Look guys, can we trust the guy that said he wouldn’t make any more Batman films yet he produced the
Man of Steel film? He also swore up-and-down that Talia al Ghul wasn’t going to appear in
TDKR but look what happened; don’t get me started on John Blake. Bottom line, don’t be surprised if Bale is in fact attached to the
JL film.
Gina Carano – Wonder Woman
dmb1511: Haywire was pretty much Gina Carano’s audition tape for
Wonder-Woman. I can’t be the only person who was impressed with it. Some may raise the argument that she needs to deliver more emotion (bigshow), but I don’t think the Warrior Princess of Themyscira needs to be extremely emotional. Carano’s fighting is fluid, it looks real and she sounds a lot like Susan Eisenberg. Perfect!
Omari Hardwick – Green Lantern (John Stewart)
dmb1511: We selected Hardwick after seeing his appearance in
For Colored Girls. Though most of his rolls are small he is our John Stewart. I saw Stewart’s anger, aggression & mannerisms in his scene of the movie and we knew Hardwick would be our level headed hero.
Michelle Rodriguez – Hawkgirl
bigshow2312: A really tough decision here, but we knew that we needed an actress that had action experience and would really look amazing wielding a mace.
Djimon Hounsou - Martian Manhunter
dmb1511: Hounsou is an otherworldly actor that is every bit as powerful as the character he will play. Judging from his
Blood Diamond performance, exhibiting emotion wouldn't be a problem for the guy.
Matthew Lewis – The Flash (Wally West)
bigshow2312: I can see how this choice could confuse some of you, but I think the shy and clumsy image of the British actor is long gone. Like Emma Watson, I believe he’s trying to shake his child star image. In addition, I hope that he can take this role seriously considering his good looks & comical attributes.
Cast (Villains)
Christoph Waltz – Lex Luthor
bigshow2312: You can’t have the
Legion of Doom without the CEO Lex Luthor. However, audiences are tired of the cartoonish incarnations of the character and needs an actor that can bring Luthor justice; Waltz was our final choice. The German actor is a master at the art, earning himself tons of awards and tons of offers. Let this be a film he won’t refuse, for Waltz would totally look bad-ass in bald!
Robert Maillet - Solomon Grundy
dmb1511: Maillet weighing in at 350 pounds at 6’11 can be seen in both
The Immortals and
Sherlock Homes. I selected him not only because of his size and outstanding presence, but because we knew he wouldn’t have a problem in playing an unmovable henchman.
Milla Jovovich – Cheetah
bigshow2312: Not only does a thespian need the acting chops for this role, but also the physical aspect. Jovovich is the all-American action superstar and would be the ultimate actress for the role.
Mark Strong – Sinestro
dmb1511: I will never say it enough. Mark Strong was the most under-utilized part of the
Green Lantern film. He was my favorite character in
Sherlock Holmes for he installed a sense of fear into that film. It would be a disappointment if he wasn’t casted in the
JL film. Mark Strong is Sinestro.
Karel Roden – Captain Cold
dmb1511: Captain Cold’s character is the most original ice powered villain DC has. He has to be ruthless in order to hold his own alongside the villain line up. Roden was awesome in
Hellboy, and could really make for a powerful villain.
Jimmy Jean-Louis – Black Manta
bigshow2312: Haitian model and actor Jimmy Jean-Louis has an amazing voice and quiet an impressive global appeal (you have to hear it to believe it). I trust this guy’s voice will send shrills down your spine, once he crowns himself.
Philip Seymour Hoffman – Gorilla Grodd
dmb1511: Hoffman is Grodd. This character needs to equal that of Luthor’s, but the struggle of power between the two will ultimately lead to their downfall and they will blind each other to a higher power.
Cast (Supporting)
Jai Courtney – Aquaman
dmb1511: When I first saw
Spartacus, I selected him to play
The King of the Seven Seas. Since
Spartacus, Courtney has been given more prominent roles including his part in the underrated
Jack Reacher (can’t wait to see what he’ll do in
Die Hard 5). He has done nothing but impress me.
Bryce Dallas Howard – Mera
dmb1511: Bryce Dallas Howard isn’t very distinguished, but her best feature is her voice (as seen by her displayed works).
Amy Adams – Lois Lane
bigshow2312: Adams the incumbent, wasn’t our initial choice mainly because of her age. I do believe she was chosen for her acting abilities and range rather than her age. Let’s all hope she’ll bring something more to the big screen than just the damsel-in-distress.
Uma Thurman - Hippolyta
dmb1511: Hippolyta’s character needs to be the old-timer that can hang with the young heroes as well as clearing the head of the young Amazonian. Uma Thurman is nothing short of awesome and would have been a fantastic Amazonian princess herself years ago had Warner Bros made the move.
Glorious Gordon Godfrey – Michael C Hall
dmb1511: Hall-Glorious Gordon Godfrey’s motives are not well known to many, but I selected Michael C. Hall to portray him because of evil visage and acting abilities. Godfrey’s roll is to herald Darkseid by causing trouble for the league legally (an easter-egg to a sequel if you will).
James Van der Beek - Steven Trevor
bigshow2312: Most known for playing the central character in the hit TV series
Dawson’s Creek, Van der Beek would have no problem playing the suave playboy and lover of Diana. Quite honestly, Van der Beek is the perfect choice.
Linda Park – Jamie Chung
bigshow2312: Chung is becoming fairly popular and isn’t too bad of an actress. I think her beauty and slight coyness works for this character, what do you think?
Alfred Pennyworth – Michael Cain
dmb1511: Alfred will be in the
JL film to provide moral support for
The Dark Knight. I like Michael Cain because he added more to the character than just a butler. As much as I like Michael Gough as Alfred he was just the butler. Cain contrasts him by denying Wayne service (because he’s aging) and taking time to himself (adding humor to each film).
Marianne Jean-Baptiste – Amanda Waller
bigshow2312: This is an apparent recast, not to imply that Angela Bassett is a bad actress but she was definitely a miscast. Baptiste has a certain quality and warmth that Bassett frankly doesn’t possess (still an A-list thespian). Luckily, this is a minor recast- nothing serious.
Black History Facts
Frederick Jones held over 60 patents, with most of them pertaining to refrigeration. His portable air conditioner was used in World War II to preserve medicine and blood serum.
George Carruthers invented the far ultraviolet electrographic camera, used in the 1972 Apollo 16 mission. This invention revealed new features in Earth's far-outer atmosphere and deep-space objects from the perspective of the lunar surface. Carruthers was inducted into the National Inventor's Hall of Fame in 2003.
Garrett Augustus Morgan invented, among many other things, a three-way automatic stop sign, which he sold to General Electric. It was used in the U.S. until the three-light traffic sign was developed.
