Thanks to the following photo from First Showing, we have our first look at the uniforms of the S.H.I.E.L.D agents set to appear in The Avengers. Taken on the floor of the event at Marvel's booth for the movie (which has been designed to appear as the deck of the Helicarrier) this shows that director Joss Whedon and Marvel Studios have gone for something failrly similar to the comics rather than using the shirts and ties look seen in Iron Man and THOR.

These guys look like glorified janitors... I expected something more form fitting and not made of cloth. Guess that's reserved for the higher up agents.

I guess since it's Paramount they just borrowed from the wardrobe department of J.J Abrams Star Trek. They look just like the Starfleet Academy uniforms.

I like them a LOT more than the regular suit and tie stuff.

I'm guessing that SHIELD Agents like Coulson will continue to wear suits but support and security personnel will wear the jumpsuits pictured above. I have no issue with it.

Just want to make sure that I'm not going crazy but at the end of the article after the list of actors and who they are portraying it has the release date as July 22. I thought it was May 4, did it change?

Looks like something for a space crew, sorta futuristic.

The movie suits probably look less cloth than these do.

Aliens are definitely the villains!

I'm starting to worry about the production values for this film. I swear they're going to try to cram the Avengers into a single-hero sized film. Someone needs to open their wallet. If I sneezed right now, the entire set in that picture would fall over like cardboard.

Top grade CGI, real locations, solid sets and wardrobe. Or GTFO. This HAS TO BE epic. Not an Iron Man movie with long cameos of other heroes.

The computers look swell but the costumes needed to be a better fit...I guess cos these are mannequins & it's not custom-fitted for em obviously...but the material too should've been slicker...but why am I complaining?? Stll looks great! Waiting to see Maria Hill, Hawkeye & Widow though!

@NeoBaggins if you're right about budget, then they got a good director though. Joss Whedon never needed Michael Bay type money before. His writing and directing style makes up for lack of budget sometimes, and actors love him.

I like the look ahead of the shirt and tie look, because they are the agents on the helicopter. It looks more military. It'd look out of place to see a bunch of guys who look like business men flying the thing. This look goes more with an Air Force look

i dislike the fabric looks like some weird i don't even know. i wanna see a bad ass leather jumpsuit with holsters and straps. like the black widows.

CarnageUSA Kenneth Branagh worked wonders with limited resources. Whoever produced THOR placed the money in strategic places then Branagh's directing put it over the top. But the Avengers shouldn't be made to work on a modest scale. I'm not sure what the budget is, but I'm getting the vibe that their trying to put watermelons in an apple sack.

Just like most of you guys breathe, the Avengers needs scope.
