When we caught a glimpse of Jeremy Renner in THOR, it was pretty difficult to make out what he was wearing, although it most definitely wasn't any sort of superhero costume. When the first promotional pictures appeared of The Avengers assembled recently, they made it clear that the look Marvel Studios were going for was one inspired by the hit series from Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch, The Ultimates. Of course, that's a comic book which already divides fans, so it was met with something of a mixed reaction. Today however, we got our first live action glimpse of Renner suited up as Hawkeye (the full gallery of images can be found by clicking HERE) and his suit was finally revealed in full. While I love the classic purple look he sports in the comic books, I personally don't think they could have gone for anything better, but what did you guys think? Well, you quite clearly agree with me...

It's alright. It's pretty boring. But that fits what he's going to be in the movie. It wouldn't make sense to have a special agent run around in an extravagant costume.
BatSlam

this suit is great, could you imagine an original Hawkeye suit translation? I can't see it looking good in my head. This was the best option. Hawkeye was a bad ass in ultimates.

I just wish there were some sleeves on it. With both him and Thor sleeveless it looks like they're going for a tacky grunge look or something. At least for Thor.

So the people who don't like the way Hawkeye looks because its "boring" or "not enough purple" like Cap's look because its exactly like the comics and colorful right? Nope they don't like Cap's because its too much like the comics. There really are some idiots on here.

Love the suit but seriously he needs sleeves because why would someone with no powers run around like this?? And he looks to much like green arrow from smallville

Wouldn't a lack of sleeves add a better range of motion For all your arching and hammering needs? Like Lt. Dangle's short shorts on Reno 911. ahaha

To the 369 people who don't like it...

Realize that comic and film are two very different mediums and what may play well in a comic book doesn't necessarily always translate well onto the big screen. For examples see Joel Schumacher's filmography.

It would look cheesy with a mask and purple tights, but it works in the comics because it fits within that medium. Less is always more on film, usually. But I think if Loki wears his helmet then I think Thor should too.

Also, does anyone else think Thor kind of looks like Dog the Bounty Hunter with his longer hair? Just a little?
Mechagino
Mechagino - 9/4/2011, 11:27 AM
I still disagree.

Yes, I know things won't translate well on film but he's suppose to be a superhero right? Throwing on some leather is NOT a costume.
ScionStorm
ScionStorm - 9/4/2011, 11:28 AM
What was wrong with the othet Ultimate Hawkeye look? At least that one was purple. They had to go with the costume that looks the least like a Hawkeye costume.

And I agree with Tea's daughter. Captain America's suit alone cancels out any arguments about how it couldnt translate to live action. Hawkeye at least needs a mask.

@partyhard- special agents are the only agents that make sense to have costumes.

Butterface is a word that doesn't only apply to women. Case in point -- Jeremy Renner. It's as if someone went Frankenstein on Bill Murray by putting his head on someone ...a bit more fit.

Aside from Bill, Jeremy also reminds me of a certain someone who carries a musket, wears a buffalo trimmed hunter's cap, and mumbles the catch phrase, "Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting wabbits".

Jeremy Renner = Live-action Elmer Fudd, ftw!
cashsteele
cashsteele - 9/4/2011, 11:57 AM
Maybe if he gets his own movie that goes over his origin or if they have a team up movie with Black Widow they would might go with a more toned down purple like Tea said or like a Ronin type suit probably not but who knows but this MCU is more toned with the Ultimate version ...

The REAL question is this: are we gonna see him fire trick arrows or are they gonna be bog-standard sharp tipped arrows?

SO which is better Green Arrow from Smallville or this one? I think hands down its this one. I know that they are not are only choices but I can live with the Hawkeye with a mask

@WallyWestNAM - You're wasting your time trying to explain to the fanboys who live by spandex. Most of them never read the Ultimates because it was not a spandex comic, they never grasped the idea of these guys not being traditional superhero but instead agents of shield. They only think of costumed flamboyance and secret identities both of which serve absolutely no purpose in these line of films.

This is the simplest question, if Black Widow doesn't wear a mask, Nick Fury doesn't wear a mask and Agent Coulson doesn't wear a mask then why is Hawkeye in any need of one? SHIELD Agents don't need masks.
