Five Things You May Have Missed In The Avengers Trailer!

There were plenty of hidden details in the trailer for The Avengers, but which were most interesting and what do they tell us about the movie? Did you spot Stark Tower? Hit the jump for that and more...

Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in "Iron Man," "The Incredible Hulk," "Iron Man 2," "Thor," and "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Marvel’s The Avengers" is the super hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.

If like me you've watched the trailer for The Avengers more times than you'd care to admit (14 times and counting...) you probably won't have missed any of these, but they're still some of the most interesting talking points! There's more than just the ones listed below too. How about Tony Stark clashing with Loki or the new look Hulk? Check out the list below and be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

5. Cap Still Uses A Gun

Many fans were not pleased to see Cap wielding a gun when the first trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger was released. In actual fact, we didn't see him use it all that much, and there were very little complaints when the movie was actually released. After all, it made sense...he was on a battlefield during World War II! Well, looks like he'll be using more than just a pistol in The Avengers, as Steve will clearly be getting to grips with some modern day weaponry. Bad ass.

4. Iron Man Uses The Same Armor?

Well, this is a little surprising. Tony Stark has gone through his fair share of armors over the course of two movies, but it looks like he's simply repaired the suit he destroyed in his battle with Whiplash in Iron Man 2 for The Avengers! Whether this is a case of Marvel Studios wanting to maintain some continuity (the character often keeps the same armor in the comics for years at a time after all) or a set up for the debut of a different suit at a later point in the movie is unknown at this point. However, there are a few minor changes, so I'm sure they won't have too much trouble selling the action figures next summer...

3. Mjolnir Has A New Handle...And Thor Has A New Look (Sometimes)

I couldn't help but notice that Thor's iconic hammer has had something of a makeover since his solo movie earlier this year. It's nothing major, but what's up with the decision to make the handle longer? While it's a fairly minor change in the grand scheme of things, it stuck out a bit for me while watching the trailer. Of course, that's not the ONLY change that the God of Thunder has undergone. Looks like he'll be spending a lot of The Avengers with no cape or chainmail sleeves. Of course, Thor's original 616 suit had no arm coverings either while the cape (which he still does seem to sport every now and then) has been removed as it was in The Ultimates. A comic which has seemingly influenced the cinematic universe a fair bit so far.

2. Loki's Weapon

So, what is that exactly? It's clearly not the Cosmic Cube and it looks a fair bit bigger than the largest Infinity Gem which was spotted on the Gauntlet in THOR. Whatever it may or may not be, we see plenty of the destruction it causes and it's clear that it packs one hell of a punch. What's most interesting about it in the trailer though is that the team obviously get their hands on it at some point, and if you think back to when we saw Loki wielding it during filming, you may be able to piece together the sequence of events which lead to his eventual capture...are the scenes at the beginning of the trailer his escape?!

1. The Avengers' Base Is Stark Tower

Avengers Mansion. The Triskelion. The Helicarrier. We all wondered which of those would be the main base for the team. Instead, it looks like we'll be getting Stark Tower as their main base of operation, as it has been for many years in the comics. Whether the heroes will actually live there and how long we'll see it featured in the actual movie is obviously unknown at this point, but it certainly appears as if there's some sort of landing pad for the Quinjet. So, does this mean that Tony Stark has moved from his destroyed home in Malibu to the Big Apple? Again, we just don't know, but I think we can all agree that this is a very eye catching and cool design...different from the comics though. How do you feel about that?

Excellent write-up!) I don't think the Stark Tower will be the base of operations though. I think that's settled with the helicarrier. But I don't think the Stark Tower will be a sub-base or something...or just where Stark resides during the movie. As I imagined, I see where we'll get our Pepper Potts cameo:)

nit picking here, but Starks home was in Maui, I think, and not Miami. In his movies, Iron Man mostly stuck to the west coast, so it will be cool to see him flying through NYC.

I may have already missed the boat on this one, but it appears that Cap has a fabric cowl he simply pops off like a hoodie when not in use. I know in some scenes he is wearing more of the 'helmet' cowl, but in a couple of the shots from the trailer, you clearly see the white wings on the cloth/fabric cowl that is dangling from him when he isn't wearing it.

@JoshW

In the trailer, you can see Loki throwing Tony out of the huge window of his Malibu mansion. Check the 1:28 mark.

It's quite possible that the Iron Man suit is a placeholder... not just the shot of him suiting up, but any shot of him. They would have been able to start work right away with the existing 3D models, giving them time to have something more polished looking for this trailer. It's not as big of a deal to switch out models after the fact and rerender those scenes with him in a different armor.

This article is kind off silly, you can't make solid answers out of cut shots in a trailer. for instance you can't say cap using guns in this movie from one shot. He probably picks it up as a last effort from a dead shield agent that got killed by an alien.

Also just cause they showed Starks old suit doenst mean it's his man avengers suit.

And just cause we saw the gauntlet for a split second in Thor doenst mean it will look the same or have the same size in future movies, hence why I think that's an infinity gem in Lokis staff.

Do you really think marvel will spill all the beans in a teaser trailer.

Iron-mans suit is actually not exactly the same as the suit in IM2. Take a closer look. And i still think that the suit from the first Iron-man movie is the best of the 3.
Malfunk1
Malfunk1 - 10/11/2011, 2:11 PM
When you take a really good look at the iron-man suits, the one in the avengers movie is the worse looking one out of the 3.
Supes17
Supes17 - 10/11/2011, 2:11 PM
I knew all of that..
I only have two concerns..
Thor's helmet? fine, that's not a big deal.
But judging by the trailer, the movie looks too actiony-popcorn flicky and not the mind blowing epic film I imagined.
Like I can already predict the entire film's story without seeing it
I hope to God that I am DEAD WRONG.

IT STILL LOOKS UN[frick]INGBELIEVABLE

iron man's armor is different it looks like there's more armor. If people think it's the same just because it's a triangle shaped arc-reactor, he only changed it to fix the poisoning what do people expect a different shape every movie?
