According to "mclay18" over on the SuperHeroHype Forums, it looks as if Captain America: The First Avenger composer Alan Silvestri has also been hired by Marvel Studios to work on the score for The Avengers. Unfortunately, I don't have access to either FSM Online or Sandra Silvestri's Facebook page (I'm working on it!) so you'll have to take this news with a pinch of salt for time being.

I think a lot of you can rest easily. The latest issue of FSM Online (which is reliable) says that Alan Silvestri (Captain America) will score The Avengers. I don't have a subscription to FSM Online, but I think Silvestri's wife also leaked the news too on her FB page.

If true, I'm pleased with this news. While it may not seem like a good idea to hire a composer who has previously worked on one of The Avengers' characters solo films, his score for Captain America: The First Avenger was fantastic in my opinion and I'm very excited to see what he might bring to the table for the 2012 superhero team-up. Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.

STARRING:

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Ramanoff/Black Widow
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Tom Hiddleston as Loki

RELEASE DATE: May 4th, 2012. (US)

AHH. WHAT A GREAT MUSICIAN HE IS! HE HAVE MADE ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC SCORES EVER MADE (BACK TO THE FUTURE)! GOOD. I WOULD PREFER DANNY ELFMAN OR JOHN WILLIAMS BUT I WONT MIND HIM.

That'd be pretty cool, not my first choice but he'd be great. The Captain America score's excellent.

I'm sure he can handle it.

No!!!! Get Michael Giacchino!! Silvestri's score was way too blunt in Captain America. Also he can't help it but all of his scores sound like the one he did for Back to the future.

If this is true I'm a happy man.

BUT... listening to both TFA and Thor scores, Thor is better. I'll remember the music from the part Asgard appears for the rest of my life.

I think Silvestri's best score is Beowulf.

but i agree with aklash... i enjoyed thor's better, but i think silvestri's work will compliment Avengers perfectly.

Hans Zimmer, Craig Armstrong or this guy. Those are my three choices that would make me happy.

Cap had the best score of any Marvel movie imo. Iron Man had the best sound track for AC DC alone.
Ha1frican
Ha1frican - 10/17/2011, 1:00 PM
it would be cool if there was a snippet of each score when introducing each character. Like ACDC when Tony first appears, then when Cap comes in hav th score from the rebirth scene... stuff like that and then have its own score throughout the rest

Ok.. Am I really the only one that wasn't impressed with the CA:TFA score?? It wasn't horrible, but I hope The Avengers score is MUCH MUCH better..

HelaGood - You know what I'd love? In the action scenes, to hear Thor's theme when he's [frick]ing things up with a storm, tornado, lightning and shit. And Ironman theme (heavy guitars) when he comes up flying and so on... That would give each one personality and would give me several boners.

Yes! I couldn't be happier. Silvestri's CA:TFA score is my favorite Marvel movie scores. He actually gave Cap a theme that was thrilling and fitting to the character. I really can't wait to hear his score for The Avengers.

to be honest i wanted Ramin Djawadi to do the score he did a great job doing Iron Man score.

Only thing better might have been John Williams. Wonder if he is related to Marc Silvestri.

Feck you guys who don't like a good "rock song" in an action trailer. Would Toby Keith be better?
ballstothewall
ballstothewall - 10/17/2011, 1:39 PM
I Wish AC/DC one of my favourite band of all time , composes (provides) the music for this epic mess, like in Iron Man 2.
SpiderFan35
SpiderFan35 - 10/17/2011, 1:51 PM
A good rock song can work well, maybe not that particular one but there are a few good ones out there.

I liked his score for Captain America, I lalso ike Christopher Drake's work on some of the animated movies.

@Bodwulf:
Those words of wisdom he gave to Spider-Man gave me chills.

And before anyone decides to do a poll on who they would like to see do the music score for the Avengers, ive already done it. Lol.

Steve Jablonsky was my first choice, but if this turns out to be true, that would cool to have Silvestri.
