Marvel Announce Plans For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Themed Phase 2 Box Set

The Phase 1 Marvel Cinematic Universe box set came with a replica of the Tesseract, and Marvel has today revealed that fans will be able to get their hands on a prop from Guardians of the Galaxy when the 13-disc Phase 2 set, which is available for pre-order, is released this holiday season!

The limited-edition, 13-disc Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two Collection is now available to pre-order from Amazon today, and Marvel have released the first details and an image of what is presumably the prop it comes bundled with (they mention on Marvel.com that it, "invites you to hold the greatest power in the cosmos in the palm of your hand" so it seems like a safe bet that it is). As well as this collectible, it will apparently come with other memorabilia and specially designed disc holders. It'll be interesting to see the finished product! Here are the discs you'll get in the set: 
  • Iron Man 3 (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy)
  • Thor: The Dark World (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy)
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy)
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy)
  • Ant-Man (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + Digital Copy)
  • Top-Secret Bonus Disc

I wasn't too impressed with half the movies of this phase. I'll probably pick up a few of them on Bluray, but I'm not spending all that money on this collection.

I wonder if they'll do a complete Marvel Cinematic Universe box set after Phase 3? How much would that cost, 400 bucks?

Phase 3 seems like it may be the PERFECT PHASE. The directing talent lined up so far seems very good. The movies we're getting are the most interesting in the history of the MCU as well.

Gonna get this one for sure, the only film I didn't like too much was Thor: The Dark World, the rest was great, especially Age of Ultron, can't wait to own it on Blu-Ray.

I don't do blu-ray but this is pretty sweet.

Working on custom covers for all my Marvel movies and shows in leiu of the shitty art work the dvds have come with. When will we get a release date for Age of Ultron? And I assume Ant-Man will be out for x-mas since it's included.

It's alright bro, I think Ant-Man will make up for the disappointment we had from AoU. I think I saw that you already saw it and enjoyed it. We think similarly when it comes to films. So I wouldn't be surprised if I have a good time with that one.

-Daredevil: 9.8/10 (I pictured that final boss fight between Matt and Wilson to go down pretty differently)
-Captain America: 8.7/10
-Guardians of the Galaxy: 8.5/10
-Age of Ultron: 7/10
-Thor: The Dark World: 6.5/10
-Iron Man 3: 6/10

That's how my ratings go for Phase 2 so far.

After ranting last night, I realize I have to see Ant-Man several more times until I'm comfortable rating it next to the rest of Phase 2 and the greater MCU. It has issues, but it's a solid action/adventure movie with comedic elements in the end.

Let's see...I can spend between $40 and $60 picking up Ultron and Ant-Man...or I can spend $250 to get most of the movies I already own, two movies I don't, and a bunch of plastic.

I would buy into these sets if they were part of a subscription service where you get the films sent to you as they release (maybe a few weeks early as a perk) and then once they are all out, you're also sent the collectors carrying case thingy. In fact, I can't believe Marvel/Disney isn't doing it this way...
