Mark Ruffalo Talks THE AVENGERS 2; Debunks Rumours Of Cast Members Not Returning

Last week, we told you about a report that indicated that the cast of The Avengers 2 were clashing with Marvel Studios about the paltry sum (by Hollywood's standards that is) they were being offered to reprise their roles in Joss Whedon's 2015 sequel. There was even talk of Chris Hemsworth threatening to not return for Thor: The Dark World! Well, in an interview with Moviefone, Mark Ruffalo had this to say about those rumours. "I haven't caught wind of any of that. I was surprised to hear it, because I don't even think anyone's really started negotiating yet. As far as I know [everyone is back]. But sometimes actors are the last people to know what's going on." As for whether he will return as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Ruffalo said he will, and assured worried fans that they shouldn't panic. Asked if he would still return if the other roles WERE recast, he added: "I think so. I'd be really sad if they did. I can't imagine that. That would be bad. "That would not be good," as Joss Whedon would say. I don't foresee not coming back as The Hulk." How do you guys feel about this news? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Well..either way, the cast has fan support. This is the sort of thing that really ought to go on behind closed doors anyway, but one would assume Marvel will take the fans into account a little bit. And I don't mean just comic fans, but clearly the movie fans are into this cast as well.

Despite playing Sampson in the Incredible Hulk, I think a lot of people will have a hard time seeing Phil Dunphy in the role if he gets hulked up.

Incredible Hulk 3 = Hulk vs. A-Bomb and Red Hulk

And have She-Hulk and Sampson appear to help out I guess...

@ckal

They could tweak the story around with Gamma World! Have the Leader conduct experiments on many criminals and have them go up against Banner and Samson. Or introduce absorbing man and have him team up with Leader or something like that...idk either...lol

I don't really know if I'd take Ruffalo's comments as a definite final answer on this matter. He's only talking about his own perspective, and really comes off as trying to stay out of it, at least towards the media. Which is smart, and surely what his agent prefers.

It makes utter sense for the rest of the cast to have some kind of backend deal for Avengers 2, and I really hope they get it.

@im53

But when Hemsworth made a ton more for Snow White than he will probably make for Avengers 2, that probably doesn't get him excited about the project.

All of them are working actors, so I'm not sure what the point of that list was. It's not about if they need the work or not, it's about being paid what's honestly fair.

@TheBlackWolverine

Ty Burrell's Samson could/should return on Agents of SHIELD. Considering MODERN FAMILY is also an ABC show, and films in the same city, getting him to guest on the show would be not very difficult, I would guess.

For that matter, they could follow up on Sterns / The Leader on SHIELD as well.

Specualtion and rumours. Always speculation and rumours. If the actors have fun doing it the 1st time then they'll be back for 2nd time.

It's political also , you piss off too many folks in hollywood by not doing their projects and they can make it difficult for you to work at all , ask michael keaton , he is a quality actor who disappeared after not continuing to be batman . You do 1 movie for the masses and then you can do a bunch of your own little films . Actors can either open or shut doors for themselves by playing along or being difficult .

Ruffalo's comments shouldn't be taken to mean that there aren't heated negotiations. Even if he knew, he wouldn't talk about it. OF course there's nothing saying that the original rumor wasn't just a rumor to begin with. So that.

@ Supercat and Nomis - Ah the memories. I'd die laughing if they used backwoods Hulk in a future movie. And believe it or not I actually enjoyed the Daredevil and Thor appearances in those TV movies.

@IM53,

I'm sure that plays into it...but when you're making $250,000 on a project, and you see someone else making $70 million from it...you probably feel that, while you aren't the big name or what's drawing the audience like that $70 million guy, you ought to get more than what you are.

Fun and great projects are good, but there's also ego and pride. Look at the voice cast of the Simpsons, or the cast of Friends. When they all band together to try and get a more fair wage for the entire group, it's not only very cool, but also says a lot about the group as a whole.

So, it's nice if Chris Evans has a good time playing Captain America, and wants to do a project for the fun of it (though he doesn't seem that keen on big budget projects), but...you don't get paid scale for big budget projects. That's what you do to work with a low budget director whose work you enjoy. That's what you do for a passion piece that probably won't make all that much more than its cost. Getting paid scale for the sequel to one of the biggest blockbusters of all time is completely ridiculous.

If there is ngotiations going on itll be the agents trying to get more money, the actors probably dont know what is going on, thats what agents are for.

Eh...agents actually have to keep their clients in the loop. Otherwise, that's a bad agent.

I don't think another hulk movie is necessary. His story was perfectly told in the incredible hulk movie. In the end Bruce used the hulk for good but still remained in hiding. That's the point. Bruce will always be a fugitive to some extent.

Feige is a hack because he is underhanded. He talks sh*t about a lot of actors who found Marvel's way of business to be displeasing. And he ends up being the one to publicly insult whoever disagrees with Marvel's methods.

I don't know if what you say is true, but even if it is...that just makes him a jerk and unprofessional. Calling him a "hack" is a comment on the quality of work he turns out, not the type of person he is.

@Josh - The title to this, specifically "Debunked" is not accurate. I am trying to find where he acknowledged these were false rumors. All he said was that he didn't know of anything as fact. Mind posting some other links where he actually confirms all these rumors of money issues and actors not returning are absolutely false please? Until I hear it from Feigi and Whedon, I won't believe it like some gullible minds. I can see how people want to believe this is true. But, movie studios have too long of a history of screwing actors and franchises all in the name of Greed. Thanks!

@DCMulti: So you require every rumour that isn't true to be personally debunked by the head guys? Not going to happen. Some of you are taking 'entitled' to a whole new level.

How's about you switch that around and don't believe ANY rumours unless confirmed. Far more realistic that way and you don't get yourself all wrapped up in falsehoods and misinformation...
