The AVENGERS: AOU 'Spider-Man' Stinger Was Fake... Just In Case You Needed That Clarified

During the press panel for Avengers: Age Of Ultron, director Joss Whedon was asked about that post-credits scene featuring Spidey that was supposedly leaked, and confirmed that -- impressive though it may have been -- it was indeed a fan-made fake. Click on to watch the vid...

No, Spidey won't be showing up at the end of Avengers: Age Of Ultron to crack wise at a window cleaner. I'd actually seen the film by the time that video wound up online and even though we'd been told there wasn't going to be a post-credits scene, I stayed behind... just in case! But honestly, that video featuring the Webhead was so convincing that I thought there was a slim possibility it might have been something they were only going to screen with the movie when it went on general release.

Well, it wasn't! Our pals over at Flick And The City took the opportunity to quiz Joss Whedon about it, and the director confirmed that he wasn't telling fibs when he said we wouldn't be getting an after-credits stinger. Oh ye of little faith! There's also video footage of the entire UK press conference.

Marvel Studios presents Avengers: Age of Ultron, the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Cobie Smulders, Don Cheadle, Paul Bettany, James Spader, and Samuel L. Jackson and hits cinemas on May 1st, 2015.

Defiitely a no-brainer. But it was a damn good fan-made clip.

@RorMachine

Can you confirm if the description posted this morning about he mid-credits scene is true? I read it (I'm weak), and just wanna know if it's real.

MercwithMouth, yeah it's real. And I found it underwhelming TBH. I think SPOILER looks ridiculous in these movies.

I can't believe this news. I'm just in total shock.

Not really

It was so obviously fan made...the CGI on Spider-Man moving positions on the wall was terrible. I am genuinely concerned by the gullibility of Comic fans these days. No ability to think objectively about things any more and constantly taking things at face value.

How many people will still wait til the end of the credits because Marvel/DC have said so many things "aren't true" when they really are?

@RorMachine

Really? Ridiculous? Is it the coloring? Or the similarities in the face to the actor?

I know it's hard to answer without spoiling it, but do your best.

It's a good thing I'm too much of an idiot to realize that mud face is a racist term. Otherwise I'd be offended!

"I'm not to thrilled about the mid-credits scene either. It screams Joss's mediocre writing."

.... Huh?

As disappointing as it may be as a [mid-credits] scene itself, I don't know how that piece of dialogue comes down to that.

Yes I understand it has no context. Joss is either following up on Avengers or casually preparing.

I have to agree with @RrMachine. SPOILER does look bad in these movies. Marvel really needs to work on SPOILER before SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER.

Ahhh up to you. I do wish we got something more though, in which case I'd call him/the scene lazy out of disappointment.

You could tell it was fake by the fact that Disney didn't have it taken down minutes after it was put on Youtube.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Admit it, more than half of you that say now that it was obvious assumed it was real. I was one of them. I was very hopeful! That would have been cool!
