Hugh Jackman ("The Wolverine") has appeared in every X-Men film, so the very thought of him not appearing in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse seems inconceivable. But, Jackman, along with many other original X-Men cast members, haven't been confirmed for the follow up to X-Men: Days of Future Past. We do know a couple of familiar characters, Jean Grey and Cyclops, will be recast with younger actors as some of the film will take place in the '80s. MTV's Josh Horowitz was just as curious as we are on the matter of Jackman's involvement, so he asked the Australian actor about it on his Happy Sad Confused podcast.
“I have been speaking to the guys, and I’m not at liberty to tell exactly what’s going on,” he said, “which is largely framing my answer here.”
“But there’s still a lot unknown about that, actually,” he told Horowitz. “There are some very exciting things about integrating the whole X-Men world, including the Wolverine movie. There’s some really cool things going on.”
Jackman comes off a bit coy when it comes to X-Men: Apocalypse, but I, and everyone else, would be shocked if he isn't in it when the film opens May 27, 2016. As for his next Wolverine solo film, which is set to open March 3, 2017, the actor has been “working on it really hard” with screenwriter David James Kelly. Hope so!
