IRON MAN - MARK VII ARMOR

"Below are the initial 3 sketches I did early on before we knew what the Mk 7 should be. The first was actually a revision of a design I had been thinking of initially for Iron Man 2 before ultimately choosing another project. It was a lighter, more streamlined version of what had come before, trying to integrate a flowing theme wrapping around the "RT" on the chest and mirroring that fast line through the body. This was more of the evolutionary design, and ultimately was approved pretty much immediately as a starting point for the Mk 7." - Phil Saunders

"The next design was playing around with the stance of the suit toward more of a brawler attitude, somewhat beefier and less aircraft-like." - Phil Saunders

"Lastly was a more extreme departure, trying to create a very different silhouette, sort of the Stark Industries answer to a more heavily militarized suit like War Machine, but drawing from Air Force form language instead of Army." - Phil Saunders

HELICARRIER DESIGNS

"Before working on the Mk 7 suit with the Visual Development team, I was initially brought into the Art Department to work on the Helicarrier. While ultimately the Production Designer James Chinlund's direction was pursued by Nathan Schroeder to the version you see on screen, I was tasked with providing some alternative approaches. Below is a sampling of some initial sketches pursuing a combination of naval and stealth-inspired forms. In a more radical departure from the concept of 'Heli-' carrier I was exploring some form of vertical jet engine clusters to lift the massive hull rather than the traditional ducted fans." - Phil Saunders

the first 2 iron man armors look like extermis armors while the 3rd one looks like a shrunken down hulk buster armor

I like the designs they had in the movie but for alternates I would pick the first Ironman suit and the 3rd from bottom helicarrier design.

if they made the helicarrier without the fans, wonder how much different that repair scene would've been in the movie. Would Iron Man and Cap have been repairing one of the jets? Maybe something completely different would've happened? I still like the design from the movie though. And Tony's armor that looks kind of like the Air Force version of War Machine is absolutely great! Would love to see something like that in the future.

Just watched this film again. Literally, the credits are still rolling. What a thoroughly satisfying film. The spoils of last year's cbms are the gifts that just keep giving. TDKR gets better with each viewing. And to soften the blow of TDKRs leftfield ending we have Dark Knight Returns. What a good year.
Honestly, Avengers was so satisfying that I really don't care if any of Phase is awesome or shite. I'm already pleased.

I thought that the silver parts on the Avengers suit were lame and just lazy...really off if you saw the whole thing. They were just placed on random spots.Like they wanted a new suit but didnt want to stray away from the classic look so they just colored some parts grey! LOL

I do really wish they'd go out on a riskier limb in making the movie armors different from one another. They all look crazy similar to one another except for paint apps and circle vs triangle ARC housing/ Unibeam emitters. The briefcase armor was an AMAZING design.
