According to the New York Times, Neil Gaiman will return to Marvel to pen the final chapter of Age Of Ultron, which concludes with issue #10. The Sandman creator will also co-write Guardians Of The Galaxy #5 with Brian Bendis. But that's not all: Image comics' Angela - an angel created by Gaiman for Todd McFarlan's Spawn - is now officially a Marvel comics character! And she'll be popping up in not only Age Of Ultron but Guardians Of The Galaxy too.

From Marvel.com

June’s AGE OF ULTRON #10 will not only conclude the epic event, but include a special epilogue written by Brian Michael Bendis with art by the legendary Joe Quesada bringing Gaiman’s original creation Angela into the Marvel Universe. Sporting a new Quesada-designed look, Angela will have an immediate impact that carries over into GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #5 in July, written by Bendis and Gaiman. But how does Angela arrive in the Marvel Universe? What will be the end result of Ultron’s rule? You must read AGE OF ULTRON #10 this June to find out!

@jollem I always find that issue of spawn hilarious because todd mcfarlane basically gives the middle finger to marvel and dc over creator rights. But the issue preceding it can't be reprinted due to a legal dispute over mcfarlane not paying gaiman over using angela.

@jollem, @Spidey,

Interesting stuff. I didn't know about the Spawn no.9 dispute. McFarlane's a turd.

@Vaportrail is that from maximum carnage? Because I remember reading it and thinking nightwatch looked an awful lot like spawn haha.

An angel named Angela, not exactly the most inspired creation to begin with. Bet MARVEL tries to turn her into their version of Wonder Woman.

Also, Spawn is pretty much a rip off of Ghost Rider, Dr. Strange and Venom anyway. Most over-rated character of the 90's.

Yeah, I think we're all thinking if Gaiman is showing up at Marvel, Marvel Man can't be far behind. But Angela? That's a complete head scrathcer. Unless that's his middle finger to Todd McFarlane; giving one of his characters to the company McFarlane hates so much. Interesting turn of events.

@TheDukeOfNY And Ghost Rider is a rip off of The Spectre.

This is HUGE! I was pissed when McFarlane killed off Angela in Spawn #100. Gonna hit my comic shop today and reserve BOTH GOTG #5 and AOU #10! F*CK YEAH!!! :D

@Dmon: What? Ummm... I don't know if it's Ghost Rider or The Spectre that you've never actually seen... but they are literally nothing alike.

Spectre is a pale guy in a green, hooded cape and swim trunks and Ghost Rider is... well, really? Their powers are completely different.

The ONLY similarity is that they both tried to punish criminals, but what hero *doesn't* do that?

I wonder what this means for Angela's background. She fits really well into the Spawn world because of her history, but it'll need to be tweaked to make sense in the Marvel Universe. I'm skeptical about it, but if it means more comics from Neil Gaiman, I'm all for it.

Hmmmmm I would like to see Angela give Peter his body back. It's kind of annoying having someone else walking around in Parkers body.

The concept is the same, the only difference is that the Spectre comes from heaven, and GR comes from hell.

The Spectre is a GREAT character.

@Dmon; I was referring more to the fact that both Ghost Rider and Spawn get their "hell" powers after being tricked by a Devil/Demon, and all the spikes and "mystical" chains in their visual design.

KnobGoblin - 3/22/2013, 5:22 AM
Spawn even has his own Caretaker character in the form of Cogliostro.
