Aaron Taylor Johnson On Playing Quicksilver In AVENGERS 2: "We'll See"

The Kick-Ass actor has already confirmed that he's met with Joss Whedon, and now he says he's "flattered to have been offered to be one of The Avengers", but it doesn't sound like it's a done deal just yet. He also discusses the character and his relationship with his sister, Wanda.

Aaron Taylor Johnson has begun to open up a bit about his potential casting as Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver in Marvel's The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, but in this interview with Bleeding Cool the young actor gets pretty in-depth about it. He's already revealed that he's met with Marvel and director Joss Whedon, but now he confirms that he has indeed been offered the role and discusses the character and his place in the team. It sounds like Johnson is waiting to see how much meat Whedon will put on Quicksilver's bones before committing to play him.

"Firstly, I’m flattered to have been offered to be one of The Avengers. Honestly, I think it’s one of the best [frick]ing compliments you can have, to be part of that gang, for sure. For me, it’s always about character, so if you haven’t got the basis of something to grab hold of in the personality, you’re lost. It doesn’t matter if he’s got a [frick]ing great power it’s always about what’s going through that guy’s mind. That character, him and his sister have been abandoned by his mother and father, they’re from Eastern Europe and they look out for each other, they’ve struggled through life. There’s already so much there, and then there’s thousands of comic books to go dive into to get that character, and that’s what you work on really. That piece is such an ensemble that you have to find how that character can really stand out, not only amongst movie stars but iconic superheroes. He’s such a small piece that you don’t just jump onto a job like that and put the suit on, you really need to have some backstory and a mindset for that character, so we’ll keep working on it and we’ll see."

SW and QS were a pretty romantic, sweet couple then you realise they're brother and sister and you're like ... EWWW.
BUT I like that they did explore this in the Ultimate Version, I mean the two of them have always been very close siblings and it does happen in real life.

Now, all we need is Saoirse Ronan to get onboard officially so we can have two people playing siblings who actually look like they could be related!

I dont like it. Hiring an actor from a superhero spoof as an actual superhero. (i know kick ass is a real comic, but its basically a spoof of the genre, using the genre itself as a vehicle.) Like hiring Cary Elwes from men in tights to do a ridley scott robin hood movie. Or bill pullman from spaceballs to be luke skywalker in ep VII. too weird. It's just asking for too many one-liners hinting at the other movie, like him using the phrase "kick-ass" in avengers, or referencing quicksilver in a kick-ass movie just to get a couple dry chuckles in the theater. stupid.

"How will your friends have time for me, when they're so busy fighting you?"

What if Ultron pulled that line from Loki and actually did it right? LOL! Mess with the Iron Man suit...

So long as it's not the depraved and disgusting ultimate version. I do NOT want to see incest portrayed in a comic-related movie.

Lol, Aaron's all like, "Yeah it's all about getting a feel for the character y'know, understanding his mind and emotions."

Luke Evans, "Yeah, he's a bit of a spazz."

The incest thing is already engraved in the minds and hearts of whoever read Ultimates. Which is why I don't want Wanda and Pietro in this. It makes the movie off-putting in some way.

Shame. [frick] Jeph Loeb for this bullshit.

There is no way Disney will allow that incest story to make it screen. I think we don't have to worry about that, I hope. I'm more curious about Scarlet Witch's powers. Will it be magic or mathematics? Aaron probably wants to make sure he doesn't get the Hawkeye treatment.

I just hope that Cap, Thor and Hulk don't get the shaft since Whedon has to service Iron Man (of course), Ultron, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and increase the role of Hawkeye and Black Widow.
