Update: And the Avenger's other villain is?

Who is it? Well, I don't know for sure but make the jump to see who I guessed it is...

Okay, I'll get right down to it... Who is it? Ultron? No. Kang? No. Thanos? No. The Skrulls? No. The Kree? Yes.

Now you are like what? Let me explain why I think it is the Kree.

First off let's say why I think the others I mentioned above are not the other villain's in the Avengers...

Why not Ultron?

I think most of us realize why in this: Antman isn't introduced so his origins wouldn't be done right... plus it seems that The Avengers from what is rumored is an alien invasion movie... not a robot movie.

Why not Kang?

Again, most already know this... Fury is building his Avenger's team for some reason... Kang would just show up from his futuristic world, and Fury wouldn't know he was coming...

Why not Thanos?

Surprisingly enough several have believed this, no offence to those who have, you still may be right, but Thanos just doesn't make sense to be the first villain. Way too many story lines. How would Fury know he was coming? If he had the infinity Gauntlet why would he want the Cosmic Cube/Tresseract?

Why not The Skrulls?

Two reasons: 1. It has been rumored that it is not the Skrulls, and seemingly confirmed by a fellow CBMer who I will not mention. 2. It mess up a Kree, Skrull War storyline which I think they will do in an Avenger's movie down the road.

Why The Kree?

Think about it, they could easily be confused with the Skrulls as other reports have been.

While some of these reports may be doubted they do slightly support my theory, even though they say it's the Skrulls:

This would also explain how it is Aliens yet isn't the Skrulls as a that fellow CBMer seemingly confirmed. Plus it would make perfect sense for setting up the Kree/Skrull War story line for the next film. Then it could introduce several interesting characters such as: Captain Marvel, or Ms Marvel.

This is how I think it may work. The Kree may be like in the Ultimate's version of the Skrulls, they might have slightly funded enemy technology for World War 2 and they may have even wanted the Cosmic Cube/Tresseract from the Red Skull so they could have an advantage on their enemy the Skrulls or for some other purpose. Fury might know this and know it's just a matter of time before they come back, so this may be why he's assembling the team. Loki might make a deal with the Kree, telling them the Cube is on earth and that in return for him helping them, they try to kill his brother or let him be the ruler of earth or countless other reasons.

Update:

Thanks to sharp sighted CBMer Xenix spotted that this gun:

Looks almost exactly like this gun:

Which further proves my theory as it looks like it's Noh-Var, Captain Marvel's Gun!

Many thanks to CBMer Xenix for the above!

So what do you think? Do you think I'm right? Is it the Kree? Well, say who you think it is in the comments below!

Good article with good points
I would like them to move onto other great villians they have so having the Kree/ Skrull war is not what I want. That would mean that they would either:
Sprinkle skrulls into all of the next project to make the continuity to the next Avengers movie.
Or The War would be too short and self contained into a movie that already has a Hulk fight.

To me the best case would still be the skrull. They should have already infiltrated earth like in secret invasion and Loki makes a pack with an ambassador to ressurect their world with his help. That would anwser: Why would fury form the Avengers? Where does the cube fit in? How does Loki get enough power to challenge The Avengers?

Its the skrull and Coulson is one of them.

In my editorial I said it was Thanos but I forgot all about Kree and agree with you.
We'll find out but till then Kree is my guess.
Good article!

While I agree that the Kree are just as likely to be the alien invaders as the Skrulls, I still think you can't just write off Thanos that easily.

You ask, "If he had the infinity Gauntlet why would he want the Cosmic Cube/Tresseract?"

Answer: he *doesn't* have the Infinity Gauntlet. It's on display in Odin's treasure room in Valhalla, remember?

So maybe that's the point: the Skrulls/Kree are here looking for the Cube, but Thanos has got wind of the situation on Earth and realizes that he may now have an inside track to where the Gauntlet is located.

One hell of a double-whammy. ;)

@ROBBEATZZZ IKR! I was like wow this editorial just fits in the time... :)

@Hush2010 Yeah, I understand that one but someone had an idea to have the Kree Skrull War story line and have Ultron trying to take advantage of the War... and being the big bad for The Avengers 2

@BooYah Woah, thanks dude! I wasn't sure what others like you, or others who went on record saying it was someone else would say... so thanks for your support! :) btw you did a great article too! ;)

@cherokeesam I understand what you're saying he could be introduced in this one but he's not going to be the main threat... but he very well could have a cameo! :)

its pretty obvious its some alien honestly don't care who the villain is, care more about the character interactions and banter between the team. and Oh Hulk Vs Thor. This just my dream other people probably wouldn't like but seeing Cap pick Mjolnir and throwing it the hulk or some other villain would be sweet!.

@ROBBERATZZZ done :)

@Hellsing those things would be pretty sweet but doubt that Cap will pick up the Mjolnir ever... but it would be really cool!

Okay My Problems with this theory that drives me nuts.

Why would they Alter the story for Kree when they can just use the F*cking Skrulls as used in the Source?

The Skrulls created a Cosmic Cube....

The Skrulls Invasion is also a Major Story line within the last decade as well as Ultimates Volume 1 which is technically a Skrull invasion. So 2 Skrull invasion in a single Decade.

Not to mention the Skrull would make for a more sensible invasion since they can shape shift.

The Kree don't really need to be Mo-Caped.

They need to introduce an Alien Villain not an Anti-Villain. The Kree are the source of several Heroes in the MU. The Skrulls have always been more Villainous and this film needs a hard villain army besides just Loki. Hulk will play the Anti-Villain role in this film for a short period. If they do a Kree/Skrull War the Kree will be the better of the 2, similar to the comics.....

I really don't see the Logic in going with the Kree. It would be for the F*ck of it. Not because of Source Material or any kind story Relevance.

Lastly the Skrull De-bunk was never a Buy for me and the only reason the CBM community accepted it is cause they are a bunch of blinded Purist.

superotherside - 8/16/2011, 2:05 PM
@TheMessenger07 Okay my friend what do you expect me to say? We don't make news we only report or voice our opinion what they may have done...

Not everyone want's it to be like the Ultimates so it would be perfectly logical if they did someone slightly different but did the story similar still...

The Kree still might be Motion Captured as they do look a lot different than humans (in some versions) and they have different suits and stuff... I don't know why they might motion capture them... who knows?

If you don't think it is the Kree that's your opinion... I can't help you see the logic of it...

Just bashing CBM members doesn't make this article wrong... or the CBMer wrong...

So please if you do comment again on this article please try to make a nice comment that states your opinion but doesn't bash people or anything... Thank you, have a good day :)

It's the Kree.

They want the tesseract so they can save their planet, so we can see in the end they're not that bad. But the Skrulls are.

Fogs

And what would you think of these ends:

END #1
In the end when the Kree are defeated one of them (maybe Mar-Vell?) probably say something like "we're at war for hundreds of years with another race and our planet is almost doomed"...

...and the Skrull armada arrives.

END #2
After the Kree are defeated we see Odin's vault being invaded by a shadowy figure, asgardian guards killed, and we see Thanos putting the Infinity Gauntlet.

@Aklash both sound awesome dude! :) but I doubt the Skrull Armada would arrive just then... maybe at the end credits it shows someone like Fury has been replaced by a Skrull...

@ThaMessenger07 Well thanks for a decent comment... and thanks for saying it was a nice article...

...those guns bear very little resemblance. I still think this film will incorporate both the Kree and the Skrulls. The Skrulls will be the initial belligerents, then the Kree will make their presence known to the heroes as allies.

Possibly not the Skrulls because they are, despite recent history, the foes of the FF and Marvel/Disney may not have the movie rights to them right now.

@JoshJones Well realistically speaking this:

doesn't look much like this:

so yeah it's kinda the same thing it's called an adaption... they adapt it to look more realistic or cooler... sides I just thought it was interesting I'm not saying that that is his gun, I'm just saying it might be...

@mstaley3000 yeah even though fox owns only the rights to the super skrull I was thinking that they still might use the kree as it introduces the Skrulls but doesn't make them their enemy in the first movie, as they aren't technically Avenger's villains... where as if they did an adaption of the Kree Skrull War, it would be more Avengerish adaption because they actually were their villains in that...

@Jefferys I know right! I hope that Marvel just get's the rights to the FF... there was a rumor about it so I hope it's true...

@Hellsing yeah but many don't know that...

@aztecRaingod, um there's more than just the fact that they are "futuristic" to suggest they could be the same. How about the fact both weapons are large, gold and single handed? How many weapons are there in the present Marvel universe that meet that description? I think @superotherside makes a very fair point to add this to his article, after all he's only pointing out their similarities.
