"The glamour is interesting, but I wanted to see where our money is going," he said, noting that the county contributes $160,000 a year to the Greater Cleveland Film Commission. "I don't think anyone can argue now that the money was well spent. There was an explosion of economic activity brought to the area by this film."
FitzGerald said the scenes being shot inside the 99-year-old courthouse are the interior version of the scenes that tie into what was shot last week on Public Square where hundreds of extras ran in terror from Tower City. The scene is a ball with many people in formal wear, he said. There is an altar that looks Egyptian where a fight between (evil Norse god Loki) and one of the heroes will occur, he said.
The film will be shot until 5 a.m. Tuesday when the crew will pack up and drive to New York City for a quick shooting of a few scenes .Then director-writer Joss Whedon takes the hundreds of hours of film back to his studio to edit into the movie that will be released on May 4, 2012.
All over town tonight, tractor trailers were loading up film gear and heading east.
The crew rents the furniture and the expensive office equipment like faxes and copy machines, but the leftover little stuff like pens, paper and other desk accessories are more trouble than they are worth to ship back to Los Angeles.
A staffer said they routinely, and quietly, donate the items whenever a film wraps. It usually goes to a local school district.
On Walnut Avenue at East Ninth Street another destruction scene was filmed. Which included a huge chunk of building, outside a fictitious Bed, Bath and Beyond, to crush a bus and taxi.
Also Marvel Studios will leave a bunch of office supplies that will be donated to an organization.
