It was rumored way back when that Renner would don the bow and arrow as Hawkeye for The Avengers. Then it was debunked. But it seems that The Hurt Locker star is back(or is it for the first time?) in talks and will most likely be cast in the part..
According to the Hollywood Reporter.....
Jeremy Renner is in final negotiations to join "The Avengers," Marvel Studios' big-screen take on its superhero team that's being directed by Joss Whedon.
Renner's involvement was initially rumored last fall, although the actor, who was in the middle of the awards derby with his war thriller "The Hurt Locker," was at the time more taken with Paul Thomas Anderson's untitled drama and was being heavily courted by Universal for "Battleship."
Renner never joined "Battleship," and while he still has definite interest in Anderson's film, that project is still cobbling financing and has seen its start pushed back several times.
Again, no confirmation from Marvel as of yet, but Heatvision tend to be pretty reliable. I for one hope this is legit because ever since he was rumored, I thought he would be great in the part. Heat Vision is also reporting that Marvel Studios is doing their best to control costs for the highly ambitious
Avengers, and the key actors are taking serious salary cuts to make it work. I'm not sure what that means for a return of Edward Norton as Bruce Banner for the movie, but one things for sure, with many actors involved in multi picture deals, there is no limit to the spin off potential.
