The Cast Of THE AVENGERS On Going Back To Solo Adventures After Their Team Up Movie

The "core four" members of the team share their thoughts on returning to their solo movies, and what excuses there might be for the other Avengers not coming to their aid. "Trust that there is a plan" says RDJ..

As we know, The Avengers will now "disassemble" and return to the solo movie franchises that led up to Joss Whedon's superhero ensemble. We have Captain America 2, Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 already in the pipeline, and most likely another Hulk movie at some point too. We also know that these movies will be very much individual stories and will probably not feature cameos from any other characters. So how are we supposed to buy Cap not buzzing Iron Man for some extra firepower when his back is to the wall? Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. share their thoughts on how that might work out..

Q: Now that the Avengers have assembled, can we go back to individual stories like Iron Man 3, Thor 2?

Evans: If they can bring us together they can break us down. The real obstacle was making this happen. Going back to the individual stories — a piece of cake.

Downey: We've got it all figured out. Trust that there is a plan. And that it all makes sense.

Q: What excuse would you have not to come to your fellow Avenger's side?
Evans: There could be dozens of reasons of why you couldn't be around.

Hemsworth: Doctors, dental appointments. Family issues.

Evans: Vacations.

Ruffalo: Fighting your own battles somewhere.

Hemsworth: Lucky that's not my responsibility. But I'm sure they will come up with some sort of clever way to have this all happen.

Ruffalo's suggestion makes the most sense - surely it can be assumed that if one Avengers has some personal battles to fight, the others will too. Then again maybe a mention or a plot device linking them all would work too. What do you guys think? Would it bother you if this wasn't addressed, or is it really even an issue for you?

Thor handles the Asgard stuff. Captain America is assigned to take down Hydra and/or AIM. Iron Man deals with the Ten Rings.

Have all their solo movies conflicts (end fights) happen at literally the same time. Excuse DONE!

Maybe thanos will appear in all the solo movies and then the avengers have to come together again to fight him.

Please make this happen

Ruffalo comes off in these interviews as always straight to the point. While the other guys are joking through the interviews, it seems (in type) that he's tired of the same question over and over.

Unless Odin GIVES or loses the Infinity Guantlet to Thanos, I don't see the whole stealing the artifacts as being as fresh the second time around. That is if he has it at all.

To the guy saying no one wants to see DC characters on screen you are sadely mistaken. If DC knew how to get quality films for their other characters then people would love to see them more. Most people want to see a Justice League movie because that's the superhero team that most people grew up with. Wonder Woman more than anyone seriously is in great need of a movie.

I like this approach having them go their seperate ways and have there own battles. Think of it this way, if these heroes by themselves fight things realistically within their own capabilities then when i truly global threat occurs it will make sense for them to assemble. I'd rather cap fight modern hydra without help then him fight i dont know the wrecking crew where he'd be completely overwhemled. There i'd think hang on why is he able to hold his own but he needed help against loki. Dont get me wrong i'd love to see Cap meet up with Tony to teach him some fighting skills or Banner pass through Stark industries but i can live with this. We've seen these heroes in their own films not need help. They had to assemble for the threat of the Avengers film, they dont for their on rouges. Really looking forward to the next phase in MCU hopefully a Hulk film is in the line up somewhere, Mark was sick.

I would have Joss not only handle any Avengers movie but I would have him do any film or at least rewrites for any film with main female characters.

awww no im not talking about this site. the general public would like a Wonder Woman movie and The Flash movie. these two characters are popular to the general public from old tv shows, to costume, etc. Wonder Woman movie and The Flash are not just solely for the comic book fanboys.

your views are the same views that people said before the success of Blade, Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk these characters was not popular to the general public and look what happen they are success.

They really need to at least include Black Widow and Hawkeye in the other Avengers single movies even though apparently Black Widow isn't in Iron Man 3, at least Hawkeye should have a cameo. They could also easily have cameos in Captain America 2.

For those of you not indulging in Cinco de Drinko, go see The Avengers... parents take your sons, girlfriends take your boyfriends, wives take your husbands... it was good to be 12 again! It is simply put, the best comic book movie ever made... And before anyone cries foul, The Dark Knight stopped being a comic book movie and became an epic film. On par with The Godfather and the Empire Strikes Back.

ckal@ You are seriously disjointed with the general audience. Most people freaking love both Flash and Wonder Woman. On her name alone Wonder Woman can leap the gender hurtle if a movie can ever just get made. People have become familiar with and interested in characters like the Flash.

Do you always call your friends whenever something happens on the job that's rough? No, you handled it and then maybe mention it over a beer. I have no issue with a lack of explanation re: cameos as long as it fits in well with the established continuity.

Also, just putting this out there for Marvel. Another Hulk would be awesome, and I would seriously look at General Ross/ Red Hulk as your villain. The man is obsessed and would flip over the fact the Hulk is an Avenger and a hero.

Anyways, that was my 2 cents.

You find the right script, actors and marketing campaign and the general public will give anything a look. Green Lantern suffered from a poor script and with that came the backlash. If you make a well scripted, well balanced Flash movie with a good marketing campaign then it suceeds. If they just go "HEY LOOK FLASH" and then deliver terrible lines, terrible acting and just lots of CGI and it's NOT directed by Michael Bay (he can get away with it since his fanbase expects nothing more than BOOM BOOM POW apparently) then it's doomed.

Make a good superhero movie, general public will go. Make a bad one, they will maybe go opening weekend but you'll lose everyone who was waiting on the reviews. Lantern lost nearly everyone who was waiting on reviews and word of mouth.

and other people are talking ultron for avengers2 and rulk for hulk2, but i think its pretty obvious thanos will be the villain in avengers2 and the leader will be the villain in hulk2 (maybe leader creates rulk? seems too close to the abomination...) the real question is who are the villains for thor2, cap2, and iron man3?????? im guessing enchantress for thor2, baron zemo (winter soldier would be epic!) for cap2, and of course (finally) the mandarin for iron man3 (lets even throw that alcoholism drama in there!)

i dont think a shield movie is ready to stand on its own feet yet.... fury, widow, and hawkeye against......?

but honestly the movie im dyin to see (if marvel can ever get the rights to xmen back) is HULK VS WOLVERINE!

I think that each solo movies like what they did to IM2, should introduce another character into The Avengers initiative bringing other party into the list of Avengers that might come along handy in the missions and operation. I would like to see Incredible Hulk movie with the introduction on She Hulk, IM3 with Namor or Spiderwoman introduced, Captain America introduce Black panther, In Thor having the Brunnhilde introduce and so forth and so on.

@Makiveli21

I have to disagree with you a bit here. I think Thanos is being set up as the villain for Thor 2. Every interview I've seen with Kevin Fiege and Chris Hemsworth they say that Thor 2 will have less to do with Earth and more to do with the nine realms and the cosmos at large. Also, provided that Edgar Wright can get Ant-Man off the ground, then it would be lunacy not to introduce Ultron as the villain in Avenger 2 because that brings in The Vision if the movies follow the Marvel Comics origin of The Vision.
